Does Autodesk 360 cloud storage work in any way shape or form similar to a Vault whereby users can check out, lock, and then check in designs? Can Vault be used in conjunction with Autodesk 360, or does Autodesk 360 eliminate or replace the need for Vault?
What's the best way for individuals working at multiple sites to work without overwriting each others' data or having save collisions?
I am new to using Tool Palettes. I have created a folder on my C: drive which contains all my tool palettes. Right now, I get the symbol of a circle with a line drawn through it and cannot use my tool palettes.
In the Options tab, I noticed that there are the "Tool Palettes File Locations" and also "Authoring Palette File Locations". What is the difference between the two? Do I need to do something to both so I can use my tool palettes without difficulty?
I was looking to insert a steel shape into an assembly, and can't seem to find the Content Center Files? I am using IV2011, any tips on where to located these files?....VAR used all default install locations
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a unique challenge. I use my personal laptop for my CAD work at work. We are now setup with Vault 2012 and Inventor 2012 and we are setup to pull our Templates, standard files and content center parts from the vault.
I have become so busy that I would like to do some of my work at home on evenings and weekends. Other than the obvious problems of having no life and working for nothing, I am having the problem of not being able to access templates or CC parts at home. I can store the CC and templates on my C drive but am not sure where to set Inventor to point to the files on my drive or if there is an easy to do so depending on where I am.
I am trying to extract part locations from an assembly file. I've been successful UNTIL I come to a part/subAssembly where the workAxes is orientated differently then the overall assembly axis. Is it possible to compare the local axis to the global axis? If the answer is 'yes', can sample code be posted (i.e. dim sameOrientation as bool; sameOrientation = ... )?
Also, once I know that "sameOrientation = false," how would one convert local coordinates to global coordinates?
I'm designing a part that in Autodesk Inventor 2013 that is constructed from several layers laminated together. I have 4 layers:
F (front)
M1 (middle, variation one)
M2 (middle, variation two)
B (back)
The final solid will lhave 17 layers laid out like this:
F | M1 | M2 | M1 | M2 | M1 | M2 ... | B
I currently have a part file containing
F | M1 | M2
What's the best way to create this solid if I want to a) keep all instances of M1 and M2 in sync, and b) make it easy to work on all 4 layers. Do I have to export F, M1, M2, and B as individual parts and import them into an assembly or can I keep them in one part file? I really like the ability to be able to work on all the solids at the same time because they're visually dependant on each other.
We have a client that wants to recieve AutoCAD documents for the construction documents that our office has prepared. In the past, on other projects with this client, they have altered our AutoCAD drawing files and reissued them out to bid. This is becoming a legal matter, but I am asking, is there a way that the AutoCAD drawing file can be saved that will 'lock' the file so that it can not be altered?

I need to be able to set my zero with move origin and the export the points.
I add 3 folder locations to the Support File Search Path. At random, all 3 of these locations disappear. I haven't tracked when this happens and what maybe happened previously, but I know I'm not the only one within my office that this has happened to. The paths are on a file server for our blocks.
Not sure how relevant this is, but I have a HP Z420 Workstation, W7-64-bit, Autodesk Building Design Suite Ultimate, using AutoCAD MEP 2013.
Why is it when I move the X4 files (brushes, picture tubes, etc) to another location and even enter that information in the program that the program moves everything BACK into My Documents folder when I restart the program the next time?
The My Documents folder is for MY DOCUMENTS, not brushes, picture tubes, scripts, maps, gradients and all this other crap.
Why I can't stop this program from inserting folders in My Documents and filling it up with crap. I don't want it there.
Except for the minor/temporary glitch back in 2009, we have had very good luck with Riverbed/Steelhead devices for accelerating DWG file access over a MPLS WAN connection.
When accessing Sheetset (DST) files on a remote server across the WAN, a DBL file appears alongside the DST and from that point on, the remote user has excluside R/W access to the DST file which prevents any other user from accessing the sheet set concurrently.
On the LAN that is local to the server, this problem never exists until the DST file is accessed in any of several remote locations.
I have installed new Camera Profiles, beta 1 and beta 2.
Now I need the file location to delete the beta 1 versions.
I have Corel VideoStudio X6 and am experiencing a relink problem. I moved all my media (pics and vid) from c:HomeMediaFiles to d:MediaFiles. I open VS and relink to the new location.
I noticed it didn't relink properly, I have videos with the same name in different directories. In the end it linked to the incorrect video.So, here's my question:
Is there a master file the VideoStudio application uses to reference video locations? I would assume it’s the library and I was hoping I could possibly open the file (with notepad or something) 'find and replace' c:HomeMediaFiles to d:MediaFiles and avoid the relinking through the interface.
I reloaded my library so I still have everything with the old references after I tried to relink through the UI. Good thing I backup regularly.
I am trying to make a script file to open a drawing and run a lisp routine. They both work independently just fine, the script file will open the all of the files fine... and the lisp is in the startup suite and works in all the files. But when I tell the script file to open the first drawing then run the lisp it hangs trying to open the next file after running the lisp. I have Filedia set to 0, but the message I get when it goes to open the next is "No canvas exists. click New Canvas." (And on top of that... Filedia even set back to 1 still does not display the Dialog box anymore, I have to shut down AutoCAD 2012 and start again then it works.) I Have tried several ways, Opening one at a time then run lisp, and open all files first and then try to run lisp (that closes the file after running) and try and run it again in the next... It will only run the lisp one time and then locks up from there.

View 0 Replies View RelatedWe are currently using Inventor 2013 without Vault and I discovered that multiple users can open the same IPT file at the same time with no warning message or read only access like we get in Autocad. We have 6 designers all using the same Project that is a single user project. We normally don't have more than no person working on the same part or assembly, but it did happen. Two designers opened the same file to make separate changes not knowing that the other was in the file. Not until one of them went to save the file did he know someone else was also in the file. When he went to save the file he then got a warning - "A later version of this file has been saved by (user). Saving the file would overwrite changes, which is not allowed. If you wish to preserve your changes, use the Save Copy As command." In Autocad if you try to open a file that someone else has open you get the warning right away and are forced to open it read only or not at all. Is there a way to set Inventor to do the same thing? Other than using Vault and having to checkin/checkout every file. Our six designers work on an average of 50+ parts per week and many times have multiple files open at the same time to use as reference. Also the shop floor opens our files to use for programming and asking them to checkin/checkout files would not be received well. The shop floor has "read only" rights as determined by our network. Does our network settings determine if more than one person can open the same file?

Lets say you design a car and having the frame and the body you have different guys that come in and do electrical, fuel system, so on... They need to work with the frame and the body doing their parts, since thats the reference for them.
But only one guy can check it out. We try the approach that one system is an entire independent assembly inserted into the top assembly but its not perfect.
How can I load multiple dimension styles into an Inventor drawing file without loading them into a template file?

So, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.
Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.
What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?
So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?
I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.
Our company does not have the funds to upgrade so we are stuck with CD12. I am using using a windows 7 /64 bit machine. I created this xml template for the writers to place place their graphics in our author software.
I have 4 layers on my file - grid.guide,desktop and template. The template has the instructions and size dimensions. I have them put all graphics on the high lited desktop layer then when this is complete turn off the template layer. One can print this file with just the graphics showing with no problem.
However if I export this a PNG file both the template and desktop layers show up even though I turned off all layers. I just want the desktop layer with the graphics to show up. I have been using Adobe Illustrator for several years and this doesn't present a problem when saving the graphic as a PNG file.
How can in retain my original jpg file sizes when processing multiple file in 11 using expert mode.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOne of the few things I miss about Aperture is the ability to create a number of backup vaults containing all the information needed to recover a database of photos. By that I mean the photos and the metadata needed to create the 'edited' photos. I'm wondering if it's possible to do that with LR4.
At the moment I'm backing-up my photos and catalog to a bootable drive and also backing up the catalog once a week. If I were also to backup my Lightroom folder and the associated photos to a drive (e.g. automically syning to a memory stick) would that provide all the info needed to create the edited files and metadata?
Any way of locking all the audio tracks at once. I am using Smoke 2013 on Mac with Smoke Classic Keys Set up, I can lock all the video tracks at once by shift-clicking on the Lock icon of any video track, the same doesn't seem to apply to audio track...
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to lock the CFX output to the broadcast monitor so that I can see the changes I make on the image in the broadcast monitor while working in the 1-up view? This way the CFX schematic can fill my 23 inch computer screen. So far i have only been able to do that with the 2-up, etc views. As soon as I switch to the 1-up view or swipe to the left while in 2-up view (which switches it back to the 1-up) the broadcast monitor shows whatever I am working on be it schematic or other.
When I am in the 2-up view and I lock the right part of the 2 up view to the broadcast monitor I usually maximize the left view to fill the screen. It however does not fully fill the screen and keeps the right view scaled to a very small size on the right.
