AutoCAD Inventor :: Breaking Dim Extension Lines As They Cross Over Other Dim Extension Lines
Nov 29, 2011I'm using Inventor 2011 and I can't figure out how to set my dimension settings so it breaks the dimension extension lines automatically when crossing over other dimension extension lines. I saw that others say it just happens, but it is not "just happening" for me. how to set my dimensions so when dimension lines cross each other one of them automatically breaks?

May 6, 2013I want to use diameter extension lines to span the diameter of the circle by forcing the dimension line to be on. When I do that, the arrows are on the outside of the diameter and I want them on the inside so I use the flip arrow command. What happens is the extension line opposite of the dimension text is sticking outside the circle and I want to get rid of it because it just looks bad. I dont see a way of turning off this little extension line. Every thing I turn off doesnt seem to do anything.

Feb 12, 2013We are currently in the transition to Annotative Annotation (Dims, Text, etc.).
One obstacle that i have not been able to overcome are graphical elements where I need their thickness to adjust to the viewport scale. Graphic elements like (MatchLines, Property Lines, Limit of Work and Set Backs) these all have thickness to display prominently in our drawings.
Currently we are making duplicate copies of these lines and adjusting thier thickness but this defeats the purpose of having annotative lables etc.
I would like an annotative line with a thickness.
Ex. a 12" thick line thru a vport with 1/8" scale will print at 1/8" but the same line thru a vport at 1/16" will print at 1/16".
We would like the the line to maintain it's printed thickness (1/8") no matter the vport scale.
I have tried using the Line Width Display but that just makes a mess...obstructs the dwg when zoomed out, rounds the end of dashes etc.
AutoCAD LT :: Polar Tracking Extension Lines Not Working
Dec 9, 2005Having problem of polar tracking extension lines working in one direction, but not perpendicular to that orientation? For example, when drawing a simple rectangle after drawing (2) sides, If I go to snap to my initial starting point to show a vertical extension line to intersect with my third line I am drawing, the vertical extension will not show up, even though the horizontal extension line is visible, and even though it snaps to the my starting point to where I wish have the polar tracking show the vertical extension.

Jul 31, 2013When placing a dimension with the text outside of the extension lines, it defaults to placing the text either above right or below left of the arrows. If you try to grip/drag the text to another location (i.e. below right or above left) it won't allow it. I don't know if it is following some standard, but in the example shown, I had to explode the dimension to position the text in the preferred location.

Aug 10, 2012I have programs that at some point or another create dimensions for what was drawn. When you have a vertical dimension that doesn't fit between the extension lines, it will either go up and to the right or down and to the left.
I can change it manually by selecting the dimension and then right click and pick Dim Text position > Move with leader.
What I want to know is, is there a way to set the vertical dimension where you want it programatically? I would like to put the vertical dimension down and to the right of the arrows if possible.
AutoCad :: Extension Lines For Radius Dimension Need To Start At The Center
May 17, 2007Having used another CAD program for several years, I was used to the idea that all radius dimensions, like of a given arc, would easily start at the center of the arc, thereby denoting the position of the arc's center.
I'm slightly bugged with some CAD users, even books on the subject by autocad users, that give an arc's dimension from the outside of the arc, yet fail to show the location of the arc's center when it may not be self explanatory. Not good dimensioning practice from what little I've been schooled...
So, in AutoCAD 2007, how do I get an arc's radius dimension line to start at the center and point out to the edge. I can do all kinds of things to the position of the text, etc, but can't figure how to get it to start at the center. (The dimension line needs to start at the center.)
AutoCad :: Dimension Extension Lines Stay The Same Length When Moved
Nov 18, 2012Some times when I re open a drawing I have been working on, I start to dimension and I notice that the dimension extension lines stay the same length when I move the dimension in and out from the object being dimensioned.
Not sure why this happens, I do all my dimensions in model space, in fact I do just about everything in model and then just set it up in paper space to print.
I never change anything when I start a new drawing in my template, so not sure why it happens.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Suppress Extension Lines For Radial Dimensions But Not For Linear
Sep 16, 2011I am using AutoCAD 2011. When I create a radius dimension on the inside of an arc, and I place the dimension beyond the center point of the arc, AutoCAD automatically draws an extension to the arc and points my radius dimension leader to the outside of this extension, rather than to the inside of the original arc.
I don't really like this. I prefer for my demension leader to point to the inside of the original arc. I can get exactly what I want by going into "Properties" for the radius dimension and turning the "Ext Line" property off.
Rather than having to do this every time, I'd like to create a dimension style that would give me this functionality all of the time. When I try to modify my dimension style, I see that there are just two parameters for Suppress Ext Line 1 and Suppress Ext Line 2. These seem to apply to both linear dimensions and radial dimensions. Is there anything I can do to suppress the extension line for radial dimensions only and not linear dimensions?

Sep 19, 2012I am running Autocad arch 2011 (as Autocad 2011) and a co worker is using Autocad electrical 2012 and when he works in a drawing of mine the every annotative scale that is used in the file is attached to every annotative object. Which means I have to go through every object and delete scales that should be be there....all my annotative objects appear in every view port because every annotative object has every scale..

Feb 7, 2013I have a co-worker who needs to create a block where the attributes scale with the anno scale, but the block container does not. He's creating a tree block and wants the canopy and trunk attributes to scale without scaling the tree symbol.
Making an attribute annotative and applying the scales to the attributes doesn't seem to work if the block itself isn't annotative.
Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?

The samples provided in the SDK detailed how to load /unload extension from a menu item from Illustrator, and how to add / remove EventListeners to make the magic happen.
to sum up, this is something like that:
1- click on the menu item
2- load extension
3- add listeners
4- do your stuff......
5- remove listeners
6- unload extension
Basically my plugin is a module/service which is in charge of dealing with / modifying artwork tree. It has no User Interface.
My extension will have a user of this service.
What I would like to do is to load my extension as soon as my plugin is loaded, and unload the extension when the plugin will be unloaded.
Or notify when extension is loaded or unloaded.
Is that possible and hw could I achieve that?
AutoCad :: Nest Annotative / Dynamic Block Inside Non-annotative Block?
Sep 23, 2011I have attached the block for reference. Now that I have found the error of my way with the annotative cutline. I have a slab-on-grade block that needs to have annotative hatches; I also need the cutline to be annotative and dynamic so that as the drawing scale changes the scale of the cutline will be match and I can adjust the length of the extension lines. I have made the cutline a nested annotative and dynamic block within the slab-on-grade block. When I insert the block into my drawing the cutline is annotative and the dynamic grips show up but they do not work.

Oct 29, 2012My company is in the process of updating the entire block library to be annotative or dynamic (depending on the usage) and it's been wonderful for new projects.
The problem comes in when we have to update an existing dwg. When we try to "blockreplace" the new annotative tags for the old non-annotative tags. These tags have attributes, but we have literally not changed anything about the blocks except the "annotativedwg" property within the root block file. When we run block replace, the old blocks disappear completely! they're not at a teeny scale or a gigantic scale, they're not on an "off" or "frozen" layer, they just fully go away even if you say "don't purge the old block that is being replaced".
I usually don't have a problem "doing my job" and just going through and replacing them individually on the smaller sized projects, but most of our projects have upwards of 700 - 1000 tags per dwg. Slightly tedious as you can imagine, especially since I am addicted to finding newer faster better ways to draw.

We do have Arcview, which will open the IMG file (ERDAS Imagine raster format?), but it will only save this as standard raster formats (jpg, tiff). I am doubtfull that one can use these formats as a DEM in Map.

On debugging looks as if autocad load first dll-A and than load dll-B.
Can it be that the (dll-A) is loaded twice?

But sometimes, when I check the property of the dim, It shows using "MyADim$0" and the annotative is not open.

Aug 29, 2011How to use annotative blocks; I searched the forums and used google a lot but I still don't get it. The problem is me, that is for shure! I have been using regular blocks for ages, and since a year or so I use dynamic block also.
It won't get through to me how the annotative option should work, I try, click and see but none of the results are what I am after.
This is my situation; I clean up a drawing (a building like a house), this I use as an xref. Once it is Xreffed to a new *.dwg I set dimscale to 50. For Nearly all of mij viewports are set to 1:50. All the blocks I insert are scaled up * dimscale.
Like a block that is 3mmx3mm is inserted as 150x150. Now, in some occasions, I have 2 viewports with a different scale. One is 1:50, the other is 1:100. I want the block to look the same in the 1:100 VP as it does in the 1:50VP. But it ain't happening.
If I insert the block when dimscale is 1, then the annotation works, but is it worthless in modelspace for the blocks are a factor 50 too small.

I keep getting this error in Map: Import GE Image unknown command.
Demandload is set to 3. I have loaded the Google Earth.cuix. I have added it the support file search path.
We have it loaded on many machines that are 64 bit and have no problems. Is there something I have to do with the 32 bit machine?

Feb 6, 2013I have created an annotative block. This block is displayed in a few different viewports at different scales. After I create the block I go and check the viewports and it is displaying well. The linework (polylines and a circle) is annotative as is the text in the block.
However, if I then change the scale/annotative scale of a viewport, the block doesn't seem to update properly. The text within the block updates to the new size although the linework within the block doesn't seem to scale and resets back to the model space size.
I've tried regenning etc with no luck. Is there a command I need to use after changing a viewport scale to force annotative blocks to update?
