AutoCAD 2010 :: Select Line / Group Of Lines Or Objects
Feb 21, 2013I am running AutoCAD 2010 full version. Every time I select a line or a group of lines or objects. My program freezes up for a couple of seconds each time, to scan the drawing. So a task that should take 10-15 minute is turning into 25-30 minutes nightmare. Every selection I make there will appear a progress bar and the words "Scanning the drawings..." in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Is there some setting somewhere i can turn this scanning feature off? Is this issue linked to the layer states?

Jul 27, 2012Why my AutoCad 2009 will not let me select new layers to a specific group layer filter. It was working just fine and yesterday all of sudden it will not let me add new layers to a specific filter. Is there a button or command that maybe would have changed that function. Everything else seems to be working on the Layer Manager.

It causes a problem when i need to select group of item which are on top of the hatch with the selection box. I did not have this problem in previous version. i also find it very strange that in different drawing in the same autocad version that problem do not exist. is there any variable to be set to solve that issue?

Sep 17, 2013In AutoCAD LT 2013, The typed copy is centered with the line and follows at the end of the line. When the leader runs left, the typed copy runs to the left like it should until a left click or Enter is clicked. The Click sends the leader line to the left thru the typed copy and a bit below center. Sometimes the copy is above the line. Justification will change this until Enter is clicked or a left click is clicked and the copy returns to the line thru it layout.

I can select an individual layer by holding CTRL and clicking on an area of the image (which is on a layer) in my document. This will direct me exactly to the layer by highlighting it (under layers). This makes it easy to find an area of the art/and the layer it's on.
I am wondering if there is a similar way to select an image that is inside of a Group? (in CS3)
When using the CTRL and click on image command, it goes directly to the Group folder the image is in (instead of the exact layer it's on). I would like to have a command that will go directly to the layer in a group.
I do know about right clicking on an image area and getting a list of the layers. I do not want this.

Sep 12, 2012I'm new to Maya, so this is likely something I'm just missing or that I've done without realizing it, however...
I've created a scene with a few polygonal objects. As an example, imagine a house with plants around it and a cloud above. The plants are spaced evenly along a curve, and the cloud is also made using a Paint Effect with a Modifier around it to control it's shape using slight forces, etc.
However, when it's done and I select the entire group of objects to drag to a different position, weird things happen. The plants seem to move much more quickly in that direction, so that soon they're no longer positioned where they should be at the base of the house, and the clouds move in the opposite direction from where I'm dragging (i.e. down not up). What I'll call the 'normal' polygonal objects (e.g. the house, car, etc.) all move fine, but I cannot figure out how to fix the other items so everything maintains its relative position, or lock the whole scene together to move as a group.
I've tried to combine them, and even 'parent' everything to the house, but I suspect I've changed something like a control handle position or rotated something that now moves opposite the normal xyz directions.

I know this can be done using InDesign by linking an Illustrator file and making subsequent updates to that Illustrator file. But I do not want to use InDesign, I want to use Illustrator. What I want is much like creating Symbols in Flash, updating one will cascade throughout the file.

I was able to do this one but it seems I can"t find the proper way to do this..First drawing a line a certain distance..ortho on,click the first point anywhere,move curser to the left and click again. that gives me a line at 180 degrees at what ever length..Line command again starting at the second point of the first line..after clicking that point,I type in @2.38<150 that gives me a line2.38 long at 150 degrees..now how do i make a third line relative to the second line so that the angle is 75 degrees and a certain length..the picture shows what I am trying to draw..using the polar cordinates you get an angle based off the UCS( which is set at world) when you try to draw the third line ..that makes the angle between line 2 an 3 not the angle that I want..To make the drawing,I rotated the ucs -30 degrees..But there has to be a better way than that..

However everytime after saving, and opening the file again, the curve breaks into many line segments, which is not what I want! I want the curved line that I draw to remain as a curved line even after saving and opening. How do I do that? I am using autocad2010.
I use the ARC command to draw a couple of lines, they look okay here. But after I saved it, and re-open it again, what previously appeared as curved lines changed in their appearance to polyline segments.

Illustrator :: Applying Live Rotate / Multiple Copy Effect On A Group Of Paths?
Oct 16, 2012I'm intermediate (at best) with Illustrator. I'm using CS6 on a 2009 iMac. How to make Illustrator ignore stroke weight/cap/join settings when I'm applying a live rotate/multiple copy effect on a group of paths? Currently, Illustrator sets the rotation point to the outermost part of my stroke (figuring in the strokes atrributes), but I only want it to calculate the from the path's structure: the coordinates of my designated anchor point.
Here's the top/right group of paths with a rotate/ 3 copies effect of 90 degrees. Looks problem-free at this view.
Here's that top/right group of paths with the addition of a reflect/ 1 copy effect of X-axis. Still no apparent problems.
But here's a close up of the misalignment of corner points. As shown, the Transform effect is based off the strokes attributes (the tip of its corner), not the actual location of the corner point.
It does not apply different cap/corner styles or stroke alignments; that only slightly nudges the pivot point to the center.
Plus, this one point stroke is somewhat arbitrary. I only set it so in order to see my dynamic effects.
Tweaking the vertical/horizontal moves effects of the rotated/copied elements won't support because this art will later undergo lots of alteration, mostly changes in stroke weight (maybe even variable stroke width).
I need the skeleton of my structure to snap together precisely.
Any solution, no matter how roundabout, would save this project!
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Material Volume Table Stationing Doesn't Match Sample Line Group

I have a corridor with an associated sample line group, and I have produced some material volume tables to give me quantities for my corridor structures and cut/fill volumes. When I look at the material volume tables they are at a seemingly arbitrary stationing. The sample line group which the material volume tables are (supposedly) based on are on alignment L1000 and they run from station 1133+73 to station 1154+00 every 10 meters. The material volume tables show volumes broken down by stations starting at station 3719+58.66 and runs through to station 3786+08.92. It is sampling at a seemingly arbitrary frequency, there is absolutely no alignment in my drawing that has stations remotely resembling those numbers, and there is definitely no sample line group it could be using that samples an alignment or stationing anything like that shown in the materials volume tables. Feb 20, 2012I was trying to recover a temporary file but as i know now, it's impossible. I entered a few commands relating to grips and something else wich i don't remember, and now I'm unable to lock/unlock viewports and when I select objects to copy and then press _CO or copy button or copy with base point, it deselects the objects and asks me to select them again.
