My XP machine is maxed out with 2 gig of chip memory (AMD dual core). Please, no laughing. It does run Photoshop CS 4 at an acceptable speed with 500 meg. PSD pictures. Apparently, there is a way to set up the system drive to dual boot to Windows 7 or XP with a "virtual hard drive" set up. How much less memory does Windows 7 use as compared with XP Home? With the early order half price for 7 Professional, it might be a way to give Photoshop some more memory (5%, 10%, 15%,?%) without having to get a new mother board and new memory chips at a far lower price. I am using Photoshop in a non-work environment. My full time job, hasn't given me a pay raise, in the last 8 years, that matched the increase in health insurance cost, I am willing to accept less than optimal performance boost at an affordable price. And, as I'm paying off a month old Epson 3800, every little bit of savings helps. I am aware that I might/will have to reinstall Photoshop under this set-up.

if you have a large image open (15MB jpg from a digital camera) every time your do something to the image the memory usage for PS jumps by a couple of 100MB. Before long PS it using its max allocated memory (in this case 1GB) and from then on everything you do in photoshop crawls. Worse still, if you close the image (but leave PS open) the memory usage stays where it was and PS still crawls. The only "fix" is to restart PS.I've tried testing this on multiple machines and multiple images but the same thing keeps happening. Is there anyway to get PS to release the memory it's no longer using other than restarting it? Even if I clear the undo history it doesn't release it. This happens even if I just rotate the image a few times.

X5 remaining in memory after being closed by pressing the x in the top right-hand corner of the application window?
Opening and closing Draw was giving me several instances running in memory. I had to kill them all using Task manger. It doesn't always happen so I haven't been able to pin down a reason. I'm using version 15.02.661.

I am using corel x3 a long time but never, never had this kind of problem. When i work in corel enviorenment after i have finished my work i go to save my work. But then is the problem It Saves the file with Large Memory on it. let's say if the file normally would be 200 K, now it saves with 3 MB. And if i import some other files in my work then the saved file will be even bigger. If i Delete the files that were imported The Saved File will be Again the same SIZE ! Even if a take one part of the file, let's say if i import only one small text and put it in another file and save it like that, the saved file will be 2 MB. I had a lots of problems, i had saved files on this way with 23-24 MB and when i open them it takes like forever. When you look that file in corel it has nohing in it, absolutely nothing that should be 24 MB. But all of my important work is in that files how to make all things back to normal again,

I do have problem with my newly installed CorelDraw X5. Before X5 we used Corel 12 in our company.
I have project file (150 MB) with lots of text, bitmaps, vectors - about 100 pages. File opens but I can't save it. I always get OUT OF MEMORY error. I even tried to divide this file into 2 smaller parts but still doesn't work.
What I noticed - Corel X5 after clean start (without opened project) takes about 80MB of RAM in task manager. When I open project usage changes from 80MB to 1,2GB. While saving it takes 1,6GB of RAM and it crashes.
To compare - Corel 12 and after opening same project file Corel 12 takes much less of memory - about 770MB and it works without problem.Â
Where from comes this memory usage difference?
My PC:
Windows 7 - 32bit
4GB of RAM
Intel Core2Duo 2 x 3.0GHz
700GB free space on drive C:

This just started happening after I downloaded DWG TruViewer. I am working on LT 2008 using Fusionware on a MacPro. I needed the viewer to convert newer drawings from an architect. Now, when I double click on a drawing in Explorer a separate AutoCad window opens for each drawing I need open. I prefer to just go up to Window>and click on the one I need at that time, especially if I have several to switch between because it is easier to see the file name I want.
SDI is set to 0
Taskbar is set to 0
Relaunched the program
I can't open files using File>Open because the program crashed each time and Autodesk is not issuing anymore fixes for 2008.  (Yes, we should upgrade but there is no money budgeted)
Right-click on any .dwg file and go to Properties>General>Change> and select the AutoCad LT launcher as the preferred program
Since I am in Window 7 instead of XP the File Types tab has been removed from Folder Options  so I can't fix it that way.
So, why did this change? FYI that stupid TruViewer made lots of unnecessay changes to my AutoCad and Explorer programs that I am still trying to sort out like changing the file icon and hiding the file extensions. Are they trying to make it hard to find files or what?
And next, how can I reset the default so that double clicking on a .dwg in Explorer opens in already open AutoCad window?

I am using Win 7-32 bit version, with 4GB RAM, Auto CAD 2010.When I try to switch from " Model " to " Layout" , the command line shows" Regenerating", several times.Â
Sometimes AutoCad will ends in " No response" and be forced off.Additionally, when I put 5-6 drawings in one file and edit it, my Auto CAD appears to be stupid, the cross can not catch the objective point, then no response, then forced off.

C3D 2013 crashed on me earlier today with the above error. I've submitted several Reports after the crashes. I've tried rebooting, repairing, re-installing, uninstalling and reinstalling with reboots in between. I have a presentation tomorrow and I need to fix my C3D drawings. When trying to start C3D, as soon as the splash screen is gone, I get the "FATAL ERROR: Out of memory - shutting down" AutoCAD Error Aborting error.Â
C3D 2012 still works and AutoCAD 2013 works, but of course I can't edit my C3D objects.

When you plot to pdf in Civil 3D, my problem is that I need to go through all the different folders to the folder that I wish the PDF to be saved, and when I PDF the next drawing, I need to go through all the folders again to find the same location folder in which to save the PDF.Â
There is surely a memory path that saves to last saved location, rather than having to go through the different folders and sub-folders each and every time.
Before my upgrade to 2013 from 2012, it would save in the last saved location, now it defaults back 'my documents' on my C'Â drive.

We have not upgraded our computers in 5 years. We did upgrade the OS to Windows 7, 64 Bit and are running C3D 2012. We are currently using Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz with 4 GB ram. I am recommending upgrading the ram to 8GB.
We have a test computer with 8 GB of ram that I ran some timed tests to determine how much of a performance increase we will get. I timed opening C3D, opening drawings, rebuilding surfaces, rebuilding corridors, editing corridors with grips and switching layouts. Based on those tests I have seen almost no improvement that I can show with timed tests.
Memory usage was 70%-75% while running the tests when with 4 GB of ram and 45%-50% with 8 GB ram. The drawings I opened were from one of our largest project. The surface drawing is 50 MB with about 15 MB of xrefs.
Am I testing the wrong functions? Are our projects too small to take advantage of the additional ram? Why are most system recommendations I see in the DGs for 12 GB of ram or more?

I am doing some 3D renderings. I created a new material and gave it an image to use. I now made a change to that material getting rid of the image file, but no matter what, this texture is stuck in AutoCAD's memory or something. Am I missing something or will I have to delete this material and start over from scratch?

Unfortunately we had upgraded LT 2008 to LT2011. A lot of problems arose:
- LT freezes after starting wich we could only solve by upgrading .net framework to v4. Without v3.5 LT runs butÂ
we are not able to use the ribbons, only LT classic. Is this solvable?
- When using LT, after 5 to 10min the systems runs out of memory and shuts LT down. We are under a workstation
with VIsta 64 bits with 8Gb RAM, QuadCore Intel 2,4Ghz, and 512Mb graphics.

I've recieved a drawing from a customer and i'm unable to load it. When I open it, it asks to be recovered because of a damaged file. I hit the recover button and starts to load the file but after a while comes up with an error saying "FATAL ERROR: Out of memory - shutting down." Is the file just corrupted? My memory isn't even being used. Specs are i7-2600 3.40 ghz, 16gb ram and sli nvidia 570 gtx cards.Â
I've also tried the recover command, but it did the same thing.
There was a second drawing they sent me too, but it comes up with a fatal error 0x0050. I've attached both drawings.

I have an iassembly factory that has both both iassemblies generated and checked into the vault. Both com up fine when toggling between both of them on the factory file.
My drawing BOM was looking fine until I added a couple of items to the factory assembly file (items are in all iassemblies). Now I get this "Member Count Error" showing up in certain line items.Â
I rebuild both iassemblies I can't get the BOM to generate properly. If I toggle to the one iassembly in the factory file the opposite one shows this error message in the BOM.

I have a issu when i use BindXRef. I have 4 XREF in my dwg. so i use à Do / While for each XREF i have found. It work fine but whrn the Xref is big File, i have the issue "Out Of memory".
So the question : How i can Force the GC to clear all memory not used. My Think is to force the GC to Clear the memory before to use BindXRef() with only one XRef before to BindXRef with another.
Here my code :
Dim LockDoc As DocumentLock = doc.LockDocument Dim MemNumBoucle As Integer = -1 Dim CollXRef As New ObjectIdCollection Do CollXRef.Clear() Dim xg As XrefGraph = db.GetHostDwgXrefGraph(True) Dim root As GraphNode = xg.RootNode Using tr As Transaction = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction For o = 0 To root.NumOut - 1 Step 1 Dim child As [Code]......
In this example i cant BindXREf ('R+1') alone. I need to BindXRef('ARCHI') beforeÂ

I haven't done this in several years, and my notes are apparently incomplete. Enclosed is an image of the type of ordinate dimensioning that I want, and also my faulty notes. Maybe someone here can add the missing pieces. When I follow my notes, for some reason the UCS is displayed, whereas in the past it wasn't. I am using Version 2000 if it matters.
Notes: Tools/New UCS/Origin this yields small selection square select top right hand corner, for the zero point, then from the Tool Bar: Dimension/Ordinate, to mark the corner with zeroes.Image00256.jpg

I'm currently using Inventor Professional 2012, and have been experiencing problems with virtual memory usage. In past versions of Inventor, the small bar graph counter at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen (Virtual memory counter? Not sure what to call it...) would "re-fresh" after closing a model, drawing, etc. (i.e. Once closing the file, the counter would change from yellow to green, bringing the virtual memory usage back to zero). However, this isn't happening with 2012, and I'm not sure if the problem is the way Inventor was installed onto my workstation, or if it's a problem with the hardware. A temporary solution has been to shut down Inventor when the bar graph gets too far into the yellow range (or red), and then starting up Inventor again.
Specs for my workstation are as follows: Windows 7 (32-bit), processor is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3503 @ 2.4GHz 2.39GHz, 3GB RAM.
