Jul 22, 2013I have noticed that as I increase my tolerance value in CONTACTS in the simulation settings my results will dramatically change.
My initial settings are 0.004" with SEPARATION as default. After completing the automatic constraints, I will manually bond all the necessary components such as nuts to bolts and welds to the plates.
Then if I change 0.004" to 0.5" and leave it as SEPARATION, to pick up clearance holes, etc., the result will resemble the way the assembly should behave.
But if I change the separation to 1.0" (and nothing else) then the simulation will run with results that are not correct, giving large deformations and very high stresses.

and it says I don't have enough memory! How can this be? Its not that complicated of an assembly. I have done bigger. I excluded all the part I'm not using and they are all basic plate and tube parts. There are less than 20 parts in the assembly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: BOM - Memory Count Error
Nov 12, 2012I have an iassembly factory that has both both iassemblies generated and checked into the vault.Both com up fine when toggling between both of them on the factory file.
My drawing BOM was looking fine until I added a couple of items to the factory assembly file (items are in all iassemblies). Now I get this "Member Count Error" showing up in certain line items.
I rebuild both iassemblies I can't get the BOM to generate properly. If I toggle to the one iassembly in the factory file the opposite one shows this error message in the BOM.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: Saving Files With Big Memory Instead Of Small Memory?
May 6, 2011I am using corel x3 a long time but never, never had this kind of problem. When i work in corel enviorenment after i have finished my work i go to save my work. But then is the problem It Saves the file with Large Memory on it. let's say if the file normally would be 200 K, now it saves with 3 MB. And if i import some other files in my work then the saved file will be even bigger. If i Delete the files that were imported The Saved File will be Again the same SIZE ! Even if a take one part of the file, let's say if i import only one small text and put it in another file and save it like that, the saved file will be 2 MB. I had a lots of problems, i had saved files on this way with 23-24 MB and when i open them it takes like forever. When you look that file in corel it has nohing in it, absolutely nothing that should be 24 MB. But all of my important work is in that files how to make all things back to normal again,

Nov 4, 2011I do have problem with my newly installed CorelDraw X5. Before X5 we used Corel 12 in our company.
I have project file (150 MB) with lots of text, bitmaps, vectors - about 100 pages. File opens but I can't save it. I always get OUT OF MEMORY error. I even tried to divide this file into 2 smaller parts but still doesn't work.
What I noticed - Corel X5 after clean start (without opened project) takes about 80MB of RAM in task manager. When I open project usage changes from 80MB to 1,2GB. While saving it takes 1,6GB of RAM and it crashes.
To compare - Corel 12 and after opening same project file Corel 12 takes much less of memory - about 770MB and it works without problem.
Where from comes this memory usage difference?
My PC:
Windows 7 - 32bit
4GB of RAM
Intel Core2Duo 2 x 3.0GHz

AutoCAD Inventor :: Virtual Memory Counter Won't Refresh
Jan 3, 2012I'm currently using Inventor Professional 2012, and have been experiencing problems with virtual memory usage. In past versions of Inventor, the small bar graph counter at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen (Virtual memory counter? Not sure what to call it...) would "re-fresh" after closing a model, drawing, etc. (i.e. Once closing the file, the counter would change from yellow to green, bringing the virtual memory usage back to zero). However, this isn't happening with 2012, and I'm not sure if the problem is the way Inventor was installed onto my workstation, or if it's a problem with the hardware. A temporary solution has been to shut down Inventor when the bar graph gets too far into the yellow range (or red), and then starting up Inventor again.
Specs for my workstation are as follows: Windows 7 (32-bit), processor is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3503 @ 2.4GHz 2.39GHz, 3GB RAM.

Dec 13, 2012We recently moved from Inventor 2010 to 2013. Since then we have been having alot of lag problems. One major problem we have found that is giving us lag is our RAM usage. Inventor continually steals more and more ram until its starts to lag out. When I open a large assembly inventor goes from useing 1.2 GB to 4 GB of ram. When I close the assembly the RAM usage stays at 4 GB. If I open another assembly it just builds onto that and can go up to 6 GB before it starts lagging badly. Closing inventor dumps the physical memory.
System:
windows enterprise (no service pack) 7-64 bit
intel(r) Xeon(r) CPU (2 processors)
9 GB RAM
Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 graphics card
AutoCAD Inventor :: Running Out Of Memory Constantly On Working With Images
Jun 5, 2012The company I work for has requested what PC specifications Autodesk recommends for use with inventor. We are currently using 2011 but would like to have the recommendation for the latest release. We are having major issues with crashes, and running out of memory constantly on working with images as well as routing tubes in assemblies. Any recommendations for PC specifications I should report?

May 24, 2013I am having an issue with 2014 not releasing memory when assemblies are closed.
After a dozen saves the saving process is noticeably slower and a task will appear on the application bar (image 1). During the save all 4 cores will be at 100% (image 2). Eventually IV will have eaten 8 of my 12 gigs of ram and windows will inform me to "save open files and close application" due to insufficient ram. At this point I save (albeit slowly), close all open assemblies, and the allocated ram decreases by ~5%. Then restart IV to begin digging the hole again.
Edit: The assembly is large but not giant; 300 unique parts, 2000 components.
My coworker does not appear to have this issue. We are using identical application options and I do not have 'Quick File Open' enabled (App Options/File).
Running Win 7 (x64) and Build 170, Release: 2014RTM.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Curved Surface - How To Increase Volume Of Surface At Certain Points Only
Apr 10, 2013how I can add more volume to curved object surface? Say for example I have a plastic cup.You can think of this as cylinder object ,which was the shelled out using the shell tool and then had its base sealed.
Now at certain parts, I would like to increase the thickness and then blend it the rest of the surface(may be chamfer its edges) .
At certain parts on curved surface I would like to add an extra mm, I think if the surface was flat I would just sketch the shape, then extrude it by few mm and smooth the edges by doing a chamfer
But how can this be done on surface that is curved? Or multi curved for edges?

AutoCad :: How To Increase Polyline Length
Nov 12, 2010In the past, if I needed to increase a polyline's length I would grap a grip and give it a pull, watching the dynamic input (I think) box for the length that the polyline was changing to. One day, I "noticed" that if I grabbed the grip, extended it past the original location, and then typed in what I wanted to add to the length of the polyline and hit "Enter", it would extend the line that amount. In new drawings that I have started since then, I cannot do this. Now, if I draw a 4" polyline, then grab the right hand grip, extend it a bit past the original point and type in 1, it shortens the line to 1" as opposed to extending it to a new length of 5". What switch I have thrown or may throw to retrieve this capability?

Oct 3, 2013I'm really enjoying the new command auto-complete suggestions list in ACAD2012, it allows me to discover new ProSteel commands which are otherwise undocumented.
I've just started going though the list (typing "PS_" and allowing it to suggest all commands beginning with "PS_" - which are ProSteel commands), and have realised that the task would be a lot easier if it were possible to increase the height of the suggestions list (say from 7 to 15 or more).
See screenshot attached. Any way to achieve this - maybe with a registry edit or something?

AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Increase The Drawing Limits
Sep 2, 2013I am attempting to create a cm scale drawing in AutoCAD of an rc airplane with a 200 cm wingspan. Problem is, the drawing only goes out to about 125 cm to the right, an I cannot pan or zoom out any further. I can't seem to find an option anywhere to change this. An Internet search has indicated I should use the limits command from the command prompt to increase the drawing limits, but this has had no effect.
How do I go about increasing the drawing limits?
