I'll describe what I'm trying to do because it seems like it should be very easy...
I have a 1/4" thick panel, 24"x12". I'm trying to apply text to the front of this solid, then engrave the letters through the 1/4" panel. If I right-click to customize the ribbon, I can select the text button, but it is grayed out. This seems like such a simple task, I'm wondering why I'm struggling with it.
I'm trying to create some 3D text where the front (facing towards the user) side of the text has a gradient applied to it. I've tried applying the gradient before extruding it but as soon as you make it 3D the gradient dissapears. And there doesn't seem any options to apply a gradient in the inflation material layer. I'm sure this is possible though
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a template part to line the inside of a wall with wall boards. All the boards are drawn as an array of seperate solid bodies which are to be made into components once the windows and appertures have been extruded out.
The problem is when the wall changes to a shorter length and then back again. the solids are re-created and the extrusion e.g. Window1 does not have the new solids in it's effected solids list, so I get an error.
Is there a way to set the extrusions "effected solids" (Not sure if that's the correct term) to all the solids all the time through iLogic or the API?
How would you keep solid image still in front of an animation scene. Let's say I make animated rain and I want to put a picture in front of the animation. I tried this, but my image kept moving when I wanted it to be still.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to split a single solid body into 2 solid bodies. The problem is that the body I'm trying to split consists of two separate pieces. I can split a body when it is a single piece no problem, but I'm having the problem when the two pieces are not joined at all.
When I try and split it on the origin plane it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Could not build this Split"
When I try and split it on a work plane lying on one of the pieces it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs."
Or, another variation on this erorr:
"Creating parting line failed. Split feature could not create two bodies. Change the Split Tool so that split feature can create two bodies."
I am making a design on inventor 2013 for a colleague who does not know how to use the inventor.
I want to make the solid and then set something up that allows the user to change a few of the parameters of the solid in a very user friendly way (i.e. a box that says "cylinder radius" and has an input box so the user can enter a value).
I want to export the length of each polyline individuality & simultaneously in different -2 columns/row. How to prepare the Bar bending schedule. I am appending the drawing .
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was asked to assist with plotting some coordinated on a drawing, the catch is i need to re orientate the UCS with Y+ at the top of the screen, X+ to the right, Y- to the bottom and X- to the left..
I managed to get this part right, that was the easy part.....
However when i went to put any Dimension or even Text on the drawing it was Backwards and Upside Down.

I have been capturing data for measured building surveys with a Leica total station (TS06). When I upload the data into autocad i can see the node points (+) and text in the top view. When switch to look at the points from the front view (to produce an elevation), the text and points appear as a flat line, although the insertion point of the node/text is still correct. I need to find a way of rotating the text and points so they are visible in this view. I will then flatten the points and cut them to the top view to produce a 2d elevation.

Most engravings into solids are done in real life with a V shaped engraving bit along a text outline. Having come from a very dated Inventor 7, I was hoping my new Inventor Professional 2012 edition would be able to tackle this with ease. I thought the embossing of text would provide what was needed, but the emboss feature only seems to engrave the solid of the text and not an outline of text. With no luck there, I decided to import an AutoCAD text outline onto the surface of my model and try to sweep the tool shape over the path. I’ve been successful only with text that is composed of straight lines. Any text shape with an arc or line segments is frustrating me like crazy.
I’ve attached a file showing my successful engraving over some letters of the text. This is my desired output.When trying to sweep the tool path along the “R” in the model, an error comes up saying: The attempted operation resulted in the creation of a self-intersecting surface. Try with different inputs.
When trying to sweep the tool path along the “C” in the model, it actually displays a preview of the end result; however, a different error comes up saying: The attempted operation had problems trimming and discarding faces. Try with different inputs.
I have managed to find the Top view, Right view and Front view through the Tools>customisation option, but cannot find Left, top or rear view.Where are they?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIve been using inventor for around 2 months now and its all been going good... ive recently done a rather complex assembly that id rather not redo... unfortunately... i ungrounded the base part fiddling with it trying to find a working constraint set for my needs (evenly spaces cylinders on a base plate and a centered on a mounting plate... i ended up using holes and the cylinders screw holes to align them but still this was AFTER i messed it up)
So now because of that the default view is skewed by roughly 45 degrees or so... now i have set the front view manually to reset the ground plane.... but if i stick this in a dwg as front its as if i did nothing... and yes i have triple check to make sure ive set the front view.
Along the bottom of the screen we want to add one of the text components - which will have a rectangle background and text saying call now and a phone number - then we want to add an image of a phone but we can't get the phone image in front of the text background - it is hiding behind the bar.... it's a bit like you see on the shopping channels with a phone number at the bottom of the screen - but we also want the image of the phone - how can you change the order of how these tracks are laid on top of each other?

For each image, there is specific text that goes with the image (just a simple quote). If it's possible to use Gimp to add text to the side of an image and not actually on the image?
Here's a link to the front page of the site that I'm attempting to add the text to. Currently, the photos are there and you will see the blank space next to the images. I regularly generate models which have a front end (body) of a known shape but differing in size, to a back end (shank) again of a known shape but differing size.
So, is it possible to take pre-drawn blanks of both front end (body) and back end (shank) to join them up to create a new model/part? I'm assuming it's combine bodies but I'm not sure how it works!!

I have found where / how to apply a background mask to text (listed in the properties box when I highlight text). The list of fill colors does not include white. I was hoping to create a background mask that did not add a shaded box to a black and white print but simply blocked out the contents behind the text.

I'm trying to wrap an image around a curved object. This is a front elevation of a sign I am attempting to render and the sign wraps around a pole. What I am attempting to do is not just "squeeze" the copy but actually attempt to show what the image will look like if you are looking directly at it which means that the closest portion of the image will look normal but as you look further out towards the edges then the graphic and copy would appear to merge and disappear backwards. I hope I am explaining this well. I am trying to wrap my brain around this concept. I know you can do this in photoshop with stretching but cannot fathom how I can attempt this in CorelDraw or Illustrator.

There is a command in ACAD to apply properties of one object to others (brush icon in toolbar). I tries to use this command but it seams that it doesn't work for hatch.
What is easiest way to apply a hatch pattern from an object to the other one?

Basically I have a 2D image (a discus of sorts) that has geometrical shapes "cut out of it" (Imagine a circle with a triangle "missing" inside) and I'd like to create a evenly high discus with a triangle hole in it).. Let's say a coin that misses a triangle in it's mid.
Clearly I could draw a circle (surface) extrude it, then create a triangle (surface) and extrude that one and subtract one from the other, but since the image I have is a bit more complex I just wanted to know if there is a quicker/easier way.
Also I have a text in my discus, and drawing a text surface in AutoCAD is not really easy.
I would like to create an dynamic block to a level symbol, with a parameter that aligns the length of the line under the text with the text end.
I attached an jpg image with an example.
I thing the key element is to create an point that is attached to the end of the text and apply an stretch to it, but I didn't succeed.
In Autocad Arch 2013, is there some parameter or option that will turn off the default behavior of dropping out part of the hatch or color, around a peice of text? In other words I don't what the white space that forms around a text object when I apply a hatch or color region.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an elevation which requires stone panels to be installed. The elevation was created in a single part using the multi-body method. Photographs were taken of the stone slab and modified, it was turned into a BMP with a low res. of about 75. (Tried to keep everything small). As I begin to apply the texture of the stone with the decal method (due to proper positioning and scale size) Inventor starts to run very slow and pauses (Not Responding). The more decals I apply the more it stop working. I don't understand why this process is utilizing 7 GB of ram.
