View 3 RepliesI am trying to add a normal, regular, editable text box to a Room Tag. Our office is involved in a competition and we want to show the Room Name and Area (which I understand how to do and have done that) and also the required square footage that was given to us in the competition project description. Here is an example:
STUDENT SERVICES
1252 SF
REQ: 1160 SF < This is what I need to know how to do.
Once the Room Tag is placed, I want to manually be able to change that number as it pertains to each program. Is this at all possible?
I have a project in wich rooms functionality is compromised. I don't know why the room tool doesn't recognise a simple room delimited by walls whose property divides rooms is set to yes. If I place a rectangle of rooms delimiters the room tool works properly instead. If I start a new project the tool works properly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm use to working with autocad layers. In AutoCAD if I'm drawing electrical plan and floor plan, HVAC...ect I just freeze in viewport the things I don't want to see for that particurler sheet.
In Revit I duplicated my floor plan to create my electrical plan. I can add my recepticals and switchs but it won't let me add light fixture. Do I add the light fixture to ceiling plan then some how move them to my electrical plan?
I have got a split level building with hanging light fixtures in a double height room. The cable is connected to the double height ceiling, but the fixture itself hangs right down to below the split level used in another part of the building. I have set the light fixtures level to higher level, reduced the hanging distance right down, tried change the host, but they still hang below the split level line.
The fixture is the Rectangular Hanging Light Fixture from [URL] ... And the drawing is in millimetres.
I am trying to create a light fixture with a head that can rotate in two axis so that the light can aim up or down and left or right.
I have been unable to create a light fixture that can rotate up and down as shown in the Revit help files.
Here is a resume of my two attempts at creating this and the reasons why they failed:
Embedded family solution: The embedded family will not rotate vertically even as a face based fixture hosted on a line reference. If you rotate the line reference in the horizontal axis, the hosted embedded fixture ignores the rotation and does not follow.
Unique family solution: The light source will not move even if it is locked to a reference line, it evokes an error.
I want get the rooms dimenstions, for calculating the width of the corridors.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Revit Architecture 2012 and I am trying to create a Room Tag. I have attached the file below. I want the tag to read the room name and the room dimensions. Then I would like an option to turn "Unfinished" on and off. I can get this to work as long as it is a type parameter. When I load it into the project it works well and everything is there. But if I change it to an instance parameter (which is what I want) then when I load it into the project the option to turn the "Unfinished" on and off has disappeared.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAn architect sent me his revit file, it contains the full model and all the floor plan views and drawing sheets. He has floor plan views set up for each floor and some enlarged views as well. On each floor plan view each room has a tag that contains room name and room number and every door has a tag that contains the door number.
When I create a new file and link in his file so I can then start working, doing what we need to do, adding devices, etc. The problem is, the architect's room tags and door tags dont link in, and if they do I cant see them. I've gone through every possible combination in the visibility/graphics options to no avail.
Room and door info linking in should be a basic function of revit; how could autodesk expect mech, elec, plumbing engineers to create drawings that have zero room and door info?
If it matters, I'm working in Revit 2010.
I have been dealing with a tolerance issue when trying to create room area calculations in Revit. There seems to be a tolerance that is set to somewhere under 9" if two walls are to close together it will ignore the area.
Although if you are using the area calculation this tolerance is set much finer. and it seems to work just fine. I have already tried to create a multicategory schedule but cant combine rooms and areas. I have attached an image .
I am having a problem with dimensions and making them opaque. I want to use "Bring to Front" to solve it, but Revit does not give me this option.
To detail out my problem: I have a dim style style setup to make dimesion text mask out objects behind it. The problem we are having is that if I draw one dimension, then draw a second dimenion that is over top of the first dim's text the second's extension line is not hidden behind the text. If I delete the first text and redraw it, it will then hide the second dim's extension line. The proper solution is to use "Bring to Front" to fix it. But Revit is not giving me this option. I am using 2011 right now. Has this been fixed in newer versions of Revit, or did the programmers never figure we would need to do that?
I am working with room tags that has multiple yes/no features. my problem is its hard aligning text because they wont snap to centers or refernece lines. How are people working with this. It causes for sometimes the leader line when used to not want to be straight or leaves some funky angle when change scale
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a rectangle (looks like a label border) showing up in my room tag. It's a simple tag taken from the OOTB room tag family. I'v re-edited the family, checked the parameters and values. All label borders are off, but this one looks like its either part of a separate, invisible label or a separate rectangle that I can't find to delete.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a third floor view that continues to show the 2nd floor room fill colors, despite the fact that underlay is off. Floor 3 is visible and present (though) I can't grab it because I don't control that work set. The third floor room fill is not visible unless I make the cut plane 10'. That suggests that the 3rd floor is out of place, I think. But it seems fine in section.
I can't figure out if this is a bug in the view range or a problem in the model.
Note that the upper range is 12'2". The bottom of the range is offset 4' to show a parapet/roof of an adjoining structure. The clip depth is not effecting the visibility of the 2nd floor room fills at all, though it does effect the 3rd objects like the parapet.
I would think the clip depth would get rid of a lower floors room fill, which I assume is associated with the floor object.
How do I change the amount of characters available in a Room Tag for the Room Name? What is the limit and can it be increased?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to use a room tag to calculate my occupants based on the area of the room divided by the occupant load factor. The room area would be pulled from the room, the occupant load factor (OLF) would be manually input by the user. Once the OLF was input a formula would take over and give the number of occupants. Is this possible? I know it can be done in a schedule but I would like to put it into a tag for a code study. Eventually this tag could be expanded to provide other information such as required exit width from the room.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get the room boundary line in a curtain wall to be set to the inner face of the mullion instead of the inner face of the glass?
I have looked at the System family library but cant find a setting for changing this.
Also, setting the location line is greyed out. Why?
If I draw clockwise I get the location line on the inner face of the glass even if the greyed out location line setting in the options bar is set to center. Why?

When I try to position my preferred tag in some, mostly, small rooms I get an out of room error.
I assume this relates to an insertion point over which I have no apparent control which can be clearly seen, a green line, when trying to move the tag - see attached screen grab.
I have a load-bearing masonry wall in an existing building where I need to remove a portion of it to make two rooms into one. The wall will only be removed so that it is above the new ceiling. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a restroom where the toilets are housed in separate "rooms" divided by full height/full thickness walls. I want the restroom to be scheduled including the area of all of the smaller rooms so I unchecked the wall's room bounding property. However, every time I reopen the project, this property, although unchecked, is back in effect. How can I get the room bounding property (when unchecked) remain the same when I reopen the file from day to day? I made a simpler file to test this, but could not produce the same error.

This gap seems to get larger if the room name is larger.
I am creating a room tag with various family types. unlike creating other families when I am in the family editing and I click through other types it hides the objects that are only visible for the proper value. How do I do the same. Being that I have a few types its getting sort of hard to see with the different amount of texts.
