I am trying to create a rectangle panel wood with sides with different angles (700x1000mm and thick of 15mm) 2 sides need to be 45degres and the 2 other 25degres.
I have tried withh the Extrude and taper function ...but this doesn t let me create different angles(taper) on each sides.
What would be the best way to do this? What other function could i use?
I am trying to create flanges on the inside of a cut angle from a contour flange based drawing see attached file. I am not able to get the flanges to attach since the material thickness varies due to the cut.

Two Questions
1) How do I color the top and sides of a 3D object, made by extrusion a rectangle, with a gradient color? In what I am doing.... I don't really care about the "texture" of the 3D rectangle, I want the top and sides to match the gradient I made on the face of the rectangle. I see the in properties of the extruded material the diffuse, specular, illumination and ambient settings.....but none of these lets you pick a gradient color.
I "guess" I can make separate layers to build a 3D rectangle box, and warp/distort the visible top and side after coloring it with a gradient..........but it seems like this is the idea, or part of the idea of a 3D object.
2) Why is there no true 3D rectangle objects, only cubes (spheres, pyramids, etc.)? Can you scale the cube into a 3D rectangle, if so how?
After drawing a rectangle with the rectangle tool. how do I delete one or more of the four sides/lines?

I have a problem when I`m creating a new part in assembly.
I`m in assembly and I push a create button. Then I give it a name and OK. Then I push a plane where I want to make the part. New sketch comes but no sketch panel. I have to push right button from mouse and click finish sketch. Then when I go edit sketch the sketch panel comes like it suppose it to be.
I WOULD like to use viewcube. However the button in the view panel has a blue rectangle over the button. I've tried to enter "navvcube" in the command line with no success. I've gone through the help pages in 2011, again with no sucess. Does the blue cover mean it's not available?

My question is this - does Inventor have the ability to add stainless steel wood screws to the assembly to make this a 'real world' situation prior to me doing a stress analysis on it ? Something similar to the bolted connections for metal assemblys but for screws in wood is what I'm looking for.

How to make stress analysis from wood?
Does not allow to choose a wood? I have problem with material.
I am attempting to find wood screws for use in one of the assemblies I am working on.
I have logged onto the Content Center as one possible resource. Is there any kind of search engine to look for parts? I can't imagine having to go through each manufacturer looking for something particlular like fasteners.
Besides Content Center, any resource for wood screws. I have looked in Grainger, McMaster Carr, PartSpec... and others. All with no success.
Inventor is awesome, quick to learn but sometime i get really blocked..Makes 2 hours i am trying everything to recreate a sheet of paper (a4) bended like a cone that isn t perfectly round but with the bottom flat.
I have attached a photo of what i am trying to create.I have tried to make it with using a triangle isosceles as the bottom and curve a sheet of metal using the "contour roll" between the 2 isocele sides.
In a part file is it possible to find the adaptive workplanes used to create extrusion1. And then find if the two workplanes are at an angle with respect to the origin planes.

In the course of working up a tooling proposal, I attempted to replicate a 3D part from a customer print. While doing so, I noticed that 3D Sketch will not, under any circumstances that I can find, allow an angular dimension between a line and a plane. The customer print has two pipes projecting at odd angles from a base flange, one of which has an elbow. The print lists datum dimensions for the open pipe ends and the elbow, and gives vertical and horizontal angular dimensions to define the directions in which the pipes emerge from the flange. I have defined these three datum points in 3D space without any trouble, but Inventor 2013 will not allow me to define an angle between these sketchlines and the XZ and YZ origin planes, or between these sketchlines and the faces of the flange base I've constructed.
I am currently waiting on a proper 3D CAD model from the customer, and I'm considering longhand trigonometric calculations to place these lines properly, but I find it very hard to believe that Inventor is incapable of constraining a line to lie along what is effectively the surface of a cone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAny way to show clearly that there are counter bores on both sides of a plate. It does show the dotted lines for when it is on the down side of the plate, but in some sections i have a counter bore of the same diameter on both sides of the plate. Is my best bet just to to create two drawings of the upper and lower faces?
Also i've been trying to use the hole tables, something thats new to me, and i can get all the holes coming up, but im unable to get them to show up as actual counter bores, instead it shows up as two entries.
Is there an easy way to flange so that the flat pattern comes out with the two sides' faces are parallel to each other? I have attached the part I am trying to work with.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe issue I have with Inventor 2010 is when i dimension a rectangle to be 44 in wide and 79 in height it becomes a slated rectangle. This event occurs on the work version of Inventor 2010. I have an educational version of Inventor 2010 at home and when I tried this same dimension rectangle at home it didn't have this issue. Is there a setting I need to turn off to fix this.

I'm having problems getting Inventor to dimension using the current view option on an assembly. I ungrounded the assembly and constrained it to the angled work planes that I needed so I have to use the current view option, but when I try to dimension to the intersection of the angles, it won't give me a dimension.I'm using Inventor 2011.

It would appear the best way would be to create a work plane(mirror plane) thro the centre

I'm trying to get Inventor 2012 (64 bit) to show the complementary angle to the bend angle in the bend annotation on a flat pattern within a drawing. I.e. the bend annotation shows: "10 UP" for a ten degree bend. I want it to show: "10 (170) up, where 170 degrees would be the complement to that angle, automatically. I know I could type it in, but then it will not update itself if I change that angle.

Furthermore, if I make the border very thin, there is an issue with transparency. I'll let the attachment pictures speak for themselves, basically I just want these rectangle borders to be solid lines.
