AutoCAD Inventor :: Screw Fixings For Wood

Jan 25, 2012

I have designed a wooden bracing system and added the wood material properties for the part in Inventor 2012. My question is this - does Inventor have the ability to add stainless steel wood screws to the assembly to make this a 'real world' situation prior to me doing a stress analysis on it ? Something similar to the bolted connections for metal assemblys but for screws in wood is what I'm looking for.

How do you create a dynamic wood screw block with lookup functinality so that you can select, say, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm screws ect. ect., and both the length and threads change acordingly? Got as far as a lookup for the length with a stretch action but cant get the threads to array acordingly!

AutoCAD Inventor :: Modeling Screw Threads

How to properly model a screw thread around the point of the screw.

I have gotten the coil to taper to the point, however, I'm unable to get thread to terminate properly.

Essentially, the pitch remains the same as it moves down the taper, but the major/minor is diminishing until it terminates cleanly at the point.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Different Screw Position In The Same Assembly?

Nov 19, 2013

imagine a sheet (big black rectangle), then red rectangles are putted into corners.

I want to have one subassembly - red rectangle with screw/bolt or whatever you call it, but i want to change position of screw if necessary (this screw needs to be a part of kit/subassembly) but I do not want a situation when this new screw position is the only reason of making new subassembly.

I tried Position in representation but I can assign constraints only to master level.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Make A View Showing Motor Jack Screw Unit

Sep 16, 2013

I'm trying to make a view showing a motor-jackscrew unit with the jackscrew at the fully retracted position and also with the jackscrew at the fully extended position (in phantom).  Refer to the attachment.

My initial plan was to have two views in the drawing, one retracted and one extended, and then just align them vertically and horizontally.   But it turns out that you can only align vertically OR horizontally, not both at the same time.  So I created an assembly of two iAssemblies, one with the screw extended and one retracted.  Then I made the drawing view from the direction that placed the extended assembly directly behind the retracted assembly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Find Wood Screws To Use In One Of Assemblies

Jun 16, 2006

I am attempting to find wood screws for use in one of the assemblies I am working on.

I have logged onto the Content Center as one possible resource. Is there any kind of search engine to look for parts? I can't imagine having to go through each manufacturer looking for something particlular like fasteners.

Besides Content Center, any resource for wood screws. I have looked in Grainger, McMaster Carr, PartSpec... and others. All with no success.

Also, see the wood texture? How to improve the wood texture? i think it looks great, we just need to make the grain more subtle.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Scaling Inside Viewport Meters And Millimeter Screw Up

Jan 19, 2013

I have made a landscape model in meters as units in the modeling area. Now, when I want to scale the drawing in the paper layouts, within the viewport, it seems to me like it's scaling as if the drawing was done with millimeters as units.

I think this might have been caused by me starting to draw, thinking I was plotting in with meters as the unit, but then found that it was set as millimeters. I changed the unit setting for the model to meters and that seemed to work fine. But I'm guessing it didn't work.

I have tried using the INSUNIT command and it says the drawing is in 6, which is meters, so why is it scaling as if it was in millimeters on an A3 layout?

The basic drawing needs to be drawn in such a way that it could be easily changed to show different Threads Per Inch and or class of fit. Then, with that approach in mind, what would be the basic steps I should take in order to create the basic drawing and then easily change it to show different TPI and or class of fit. Note: I only need to show the external and internal threads, not the entire screw or object attached.

AutoCad 3D :: Drawing Router Profile Onto Piece Of Wood?

Jul 25, 2011

I am using AutoCAD 2010 3D and though I am reasonably comfortable with 2D, the 3D stuff is hurting this wee brain of mine. Here is my objective. I have drawn a 3D image of a piece of wood in the 3D model space. I want to profile the edges of the wood with a router design, in this case a Roman Ogee, (see drawing). I have drawn the Roman Ogee in 2D, copied and pasted it into 3D then extruded it. I moved the Roman Ogee router profile into the area at the edge of the board I want the profile to be but I just can't figure out how to get the router profile to run along all 4 edges of the board to look like the image above.
