Photoshop :: Color Top / Sides Of 3D Cube Or Rectangle With Gradient
Jun 2, 2013I am using PS CS6 extended on Win 7.
Two Questions
1) How do I color the top and sides of a 3D object, made by extrusion a rectangle, with a gradient color? In what I am doing.... I don't really care about the "texture" of the 3D rectangle, I want the top and sides to match the gradient I made on the face of the rectangle. I see the in properties of the extruded material the diffuse, specular, illumination and ambient settings.....but none of these lets you pick a gradient color.
I "guess" I can make separate layers to build a 3D rectangle box, and warp/distort the visible top and side after coloring it with a gradient..........but it seems like this is the idea, or part of the idea of a 3D object.
2) Why is there no true 3D rectangle objects, only cubes (spheres, pyramids, etc.)? Can you scale the cube into a 3D rectangle, if so how?

Feb 1, 2012I am trying to create a rectangle panel wood with sides with different angles (700x1000mm and thick of 15mm) 2 sides need to be 45degres and the 2 other 25degres.
I have tried withh the Extrude and taper function ...but this doesn t let me create different angles(taper) on each sides.
What would be the best way to do this? What other function could i use?

Jul 23, 2011I'm learning to use Coreldraw for artistic metal cutting using a plasma cutter, so the file itself is important and not just what appears on the screen (or what prints out).
I've used the blend tool to draw some circles along a wavy path. I want the circles but I don't want the path. I remove the outline and the path dissappears on the screen but it's still in the file and when I export as a dxf file there is the path cutting right through the circles.
If I use Detach from Path then the circles simple come of my wavy path and end up in a straight line.
Are there any other techniques to give the same result but one where I can keep the circles/objects in their locations while removing the path at file level.
I know of a plugin available for Coreldraw that can take a bunch of dissimilar objects and place them on a path but at this point don't know if it can do what I need and delete the path afterwards.
Or is there any way I can copy the circles without copying the path.

Nov 8, 2013I am wondering if there is a way to have a bleed on three sides only. I am exporting to a pdf/x for the printers and I do not want the inside edge (book format) to have a bleed. The only way I can see around this is to make the page smaller (the size of the bleed), but I would prefer to simply remove the inside bleed itself.

Aug 9, 2008I made a Rounded Rectangle Tool with a radius of 10. Then, once I created the rectangle,
I tried to cut off the bottom so that only the top part was rounded by using the Rectangular Marquee and hitting delete.
But it deletes everything?
Basically trying to create a tab like this attached psd but using the Rounded Rectangle Tool as a shape to keep everything sharp.

How do i align/position the two sides so i get specific elements where i want them on the back side,
the problem is not with the front and i only need to position the back and specifically, i have checked out the print preview imposition tool and only seems to just print duplicate copies however many times need, unless i used it incorrectly,
I mean i could manually try to set them up and waste a lot of ink and paper positioning the two sides but i believe there is a faster/smarter method to accomplish this.

When I try to click on a point with the Delete Anchor Point Tool nothing happens however I am able to select the point using the Direct Selection Tool and then remove it using the "Remove selected anchor points" option in the Control palette. I want the rectangle to not fill with a color, instead, the fill would be transparent, but the border would be red. Then I'd like to rotate it some?
How do I do all that? I can click on the rectangle tool in the toolbox. Then click and draw a rectangle. The box fills with a color and covers whatever is underneath it, then I go over to opacity in the layer and bring it down to 0. That then shows what's underneath it. Is that the right approach?

Dec 13, 2006I can't use my "Rounded Rectangle Tool" correctly anymore. When I draw the shape it's just a square without the rounded corners. The radius is set on 1 pixel. The cursor also displays a really small circle on the bottom right with a square inside of it.
