View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to "simplify" an existing vector shape layer by somehow "averaging out" curves to remove as much of the unnecessary anchors as possible?
For instance, a simple sphere can be just 4 anchors. The one I'm working with has 100 anchors. The vast majority of them are useless, and only make the shape look uneven upon close (zoom-in) inspection. If there was an option, perhaps one with a slider ever, that allowed me to "simplify" this vector shape by removing anchors and adjusting angles to compensate .
I have just installed Corel Draw X5 upgrading from X3. Using the program to run (2) laser engravers.
One Xenetech XLT1325 and one ULS M-300. Everything works fine until I send over a job which requires a vector cut line (hairline set to higher power to cut through plastic etc..) The vector do not appear to be recognized by either laser machine. I have tried to import the pallette that I was using in X3 but to no avail.
I work on CS3 and have often the problem for the logos the Companies send me in .jpg to convert for their design as a vector file.
With vector magic it works always good to smooth with one click the curves full of pixels into a pixel free curve with clear boundary.
I had a look into the old discussion on this forum and found few things in the discussion "raster image .gif". I would like to get an addon that would be a 1 time buying and cheaper as a complete new investment into a whole soft like vector magic.
Whenever I use the Trace option to convert, the result is an image filled with closed objects. Because I use vector images with a laser machine, and because the laser cuts everything it reads, the "double" lines (shared lines of the objects) get cut as many times as they appear. So I have to go in and break apart and delete segments & this goes on for days. I've tried welding, but welding makes one of the objects disappear completely. I've tried changing from cdr to svg, exporting & importing, hoping it would simplify, but that doesn't work either. Is there a way to have the bitmap converted to simple lines instead of overlapping objects?

I can't seem to figure out why in some cases trim works and in others it simply puts the top object under the bottom one instead of trimming it from the bottom one.
Does same thing in X3 X4 and X5?
I've tried everything from making sure both were filled with solid color - all curves closed, nothing else grouped with them - nothing - sometimes I have to try a couple times doing same thing and it will work, other times not at all - even after trying a save (which sometimes works)
Both top and bottom show on layer one in properties too!
Draw specific, Is there a vector tool that will accept input and change thickness with pressure from the pen?
Can I use the eraser in Draw? Any other cool things I can do with it now? I'm still getting used to it, but it seems neat.

How do you smooth lines? Like if I trace something and the lines are just a touch jagged, how do I get them to look perfect? I'm using PS7.
Also, how could I make concentric circles? Or even just a hollow circle? I can use the shape tool to make a circle, but that fills it - is there a way to make it with just a 2 or 3 pixel outline and hollow in the middle?
After drawing a rectangle with the rectangle tool. how do I delete one or more of the four sides/lines?

When i opened my ai file into ps, it converted the lines into pixels, how do i maintain the vector lines as shown in the link above?

I know i can make a selection and then go to select>modify>smooth and it rounds off the selection, but i want to be able to do this on the fly as i make a lot of selection in my artwork.
I am having trouble doing this in my current software, Serif Drawplus, PSE, Photoplus, (I have Gimp but haven't used it ever yet). And I am considering buying X6 for use in other projects. So, can x6 do this in either Photo Paint with a bitmap, or in X6 with a group of Vectors?
I want to wrap a bottle with a logo. The mesh warps aren't working for me in the above applications, and envelope warping will not work either. Transform-Warp is not present in PSE. I mention that because I see a tutorial for PS using that. How would Corel X6 Suite do this? I am considering buying the software once some questions I have about it are cleared up. I wish Corel would make the manual and tutorial videos public. I'd rather download the trial for actually using it rather than trying to see if some feature is present, or a workaround for a feature a competitor has.
I am also hoping to make in this project, some 10-20 different bottles with the logo on, of different sized bottles and different rotations of the bottles. Plan D is acquainting myself with Blender, but lets hope I don't have to go that far!
how to change the "corner radius" for the shape tool's polygon tool. I set it to 6 sides and with SMOOTHED CORNERS off, it creates a hexagon as expected.But if I turn on SMOOTHED CORNERS, it almost makes a circle, the corners are excessively rounded. I see no option to control how smoothed/rounded these corners are.
When I lower this to 3 sides, I can see PS is heavily rounding the corners. At this point, I simply don't think there's an option to do what I want here. I know in AI, you can hold the arrow keys to add/remove corners and increase/decrease rounded corners, but PS CS5 doesn't seem to support that.
I have graphics suite x5. what im trying to do use fonts (curly fonts) to make signs to cut out with my cnc laser. My question is now for i smooth off all the rough edges so when i cut them out there smooth and free flowing .
If there are better fonts to use then others or is there any easy way to smooth /soften the curves ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to recreate logo. Traced text. The text is too rough. I've selected it, click the shape tool, and the Smoothing bar does not work. It stays at "0" and does not effect the selected curve.
I've tried just drawing a shape with jagged edges and the Smoothing bar still does not work. Am I missing a step to make the Smoothing bar apply?
I created a vector in Adobe Illustrator and there are transparent lines running through it. There are no inconsistencies in the path and this is the only file this has happened for. They are less visible while they are on a flat vector (see image 1), but they become more visible when placed as a smart object (image 2), especially when using a 3D effect from illustrator as well (image 3).

I scanned my signature into my computer as a TIFF file. I then edited and cleaned it up in Photoshop. Then I placed it into Illustrator and turned it into a Vector file. The problem with this though is that there are vector paths around the perimeter of the signature and not down the middle of the letter strokes as would be if I had made it in Illustrator. Is there a way that I can still make this happen?
I just converted it back to a tiff file becuas the vector lines were turning into double lines in places. I just enlarged them enough that it hid any gaps and then converted it into a tiff file to have another try at it. Would much rather work with one line though.

On paint it shows exactly how the line looks as ur drawing it,
but on Photoshop it shows some rectangle outline of the line.
I have drawn a shape using the Paintbrush tool's new smooth fidelity with a 3 pt stroke. But when I go to use the Varible Width tool it want allow me to modify the line.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running 13.0.1 right now and am stymied by the line tool UX. The problem stems from the fact that although you feel you are drawing a line, you are actually drawing a box.
Follow these steps running 13.0.1 x64:
Create a new docSelect the Vector Line toolType in a Stroke width (eg: 20px)Draw your lineNotice that the line is still 1px weight.
Of course, after much fiddling around you realize that you need to set the FILL to your stroke colour, your Stroke to NONE and then specify the WEIGHT over in the far right of the control bar.
This really isn't the right UX for drawing lines, particularly if you're coming from any other vector drawing environment.
When I try to use the pen tool it automaticly makes a vector mask for the pen line. How do you disable that? Also, what can you do with the vector mask?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using the pen tool for more than 2 years already, but when I started using CS6, I have lots of difficulties using the pen tool. I use the pen tool for vector portraits and I need to use opacity 8 for every vector.
But when I add another shape on top of it, it gets back to 100% opacity, so I have to change it to opacity 10 again. This has caused me to spend a lot of time on something else than trying to make my work quick and fast.
I have Photoshop CS2 and I am trying to "fix" a photo. I'm using a tutorial,and it worked on a previous photo but seems to have quit on me. I made a new layer from the original layer, used filter> other> high pass (set to 3.5) then image> adjustments>desaturate. Inverted the layer added a vector mask and inverted that as well. I set the blending mode to overlay, and the foreground color to white.

When resizing a vector group in Illustrator CS5 with a custom made symbol in the group I get distortion of the proportion of the shape.
Tried resizing with selection tool holding down shift or option
Turning off align to pixel grid in the transform panel
Turning off align to pixel grid in the symbol option
Checking Enabled Guides for 9-slice scaling is turned on
Checking Scale Stroke & Effects is turned off in preferences
