I created a vector in Adobe Illustrator and there are transparent lines running through it. There are no inconsistencies in the path and this is the only file this has happened for. They are less visible while they are on a flat vector (see image 1), but they become more visible when placed as a smart object (image 2), especially when using a 3D effect from illustrator as well (image 3).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a logo that I made into a vector image. It is simply black text with a transparent background. I am trying to create a duplicate of the image- but with the letters inverted to white (still with a transparent background). I am pretty new to illustrator and am not sure how to get this effect. I have tried using the "ignore white" button in image trace as I did with the black text image, but all it does is erase my text too. Is there an easy way to do this?
I have also tried to go to "object/edit color/invert" but all it does is say there are no recognizable colors to invert....
URL....I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
I scanned my signature into my computer as a TIFF file. I then edited and cleaned it up in Photoshop. Then I placed it into Illustrator and turned it into a Vector file. The problem with this though is that there are vector paths around the perimeter of the signature and not down the middle of the letter strokes as would be if I had made it in Illustrator. Is there a way that I can still make this happen?
I just converted it back to a tiff file becuas the vector lines were turning into double lines in places. I just enlarged them enough that it hid any gaps and then converted it into a tiff file to have another try at it. Would much rather work with one line though.

How to get lines that export with transparent "fill" without booleaning them together? When I do this the lines change so I'd like to find a way to just keep the information on top and ignore what's behind entirely (including the fill) so that I only have lines and no fills. Its for printing on fabric and such.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've been messing with Live paint, and I've noticed that where paths overlap or abut, or even if a path was expanded to a fill, a transparent line is there. They are not always noticeable in Illustrator, but when I bring the documents into Photoshop, they're blatantly obvious!

Is there anything that I can do about this? After more than an hour of chatting with a Tech support person, we determined that turning off anti-aliasing when I open the docuement in PS will fix this, but then all the lines are jagged, so that's not a viable fix. I know I can fill these gaps in in Photoshop, but I don't think that I should have to do that, and also, with complex artwork, this isn't exactly a viable option... Am I working too small?
I recently invested in CS6 Production Premium and I've just tested legacy support by saving an Illustrator CS6 image in CS4 format.
The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.
Having loaded the saved CS4 .ai file in CS6, white lines appear along my semi-transparent gradient meshes (see the attached screenshot).
What's happening is that the anchor points with 0% opacity in CS6 suddenly have 100% opacity when I load the saved CS4 files in CS6.
Is this a known error? If so, how/where do I report it?

When i opened my ai file into ps, it converted the lines into pixels, how do i maintain the vector lines as shown in the link above?
Also, how do i color underneath those lines?
I'm sure there's a way to do this but for the life of me I can't remember and can't find it when I do a search. I have an object that is comprised of several lines that are grouped together, and I want to fill the entire group with a fractal cloud 3-color fill. In order to do so, I am creating the fill as a background, and making the object transparent, but when I do that, all my lines disappear (of course!) but I need the lines in it for details. I _think_ it was Macromedia FreeHand 8, and that I used a plug-in w/in that program, but I can't recall. Any way other than rendering the drawing as a half-toned bitmap and then tracing it? Or re-drawing the image on top of such a bitmap?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Corel Draw X5 upgrading from X3. Using the program to run (2) laser engravers.
One Xenetech XLT1325 and one ULS M-300. Everything works fine until I send over a job which requires a vector cut line (hairline set to higher power to cut through plastic etc..) The vector do not appear to be recognized by either laser machine. I have tried to import the pallette that I was using in X3 but to no avail.
Whenever I use the Trace option to convert, the result is an image filled with closed objects. Because I use vector images with a laser machine, and because the laser cuts everything it reads, the "double" lines (shared lines of the objects) get cut as many times as they appear. So I have to go in and break apart and delete segments & this goes on for days. I've tried welding, but welding makes one of the objects disappear completely. I've tried changing from cdr to svg, exporting & importing, hoping it would simplify, but that doesn't work either. Is there a way to have the bitmap converted to simple lines instead of overlapping objects?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI often produce graphics in CorelDRAW, export it as en eps file and insert it inside a MS Word document as an image and finally convert it to pdf. This way my vector graphics (often linedrawings with or without fill) usually is preserved in the final pdf document. I can zoom in and the lines keep on displaying perfectly sharp. This is important, since it easily looks bad when thin lines are turned into bitmaps, even when watched from a distance.
Now, in some graphics I created today, I had a circle with fountain fill and outline (symbolizing a sphere) put behind a filled rectangle, which had a uniform transparency applied to it. In the resulting pdf file, the 'sphere' was turned into bitmap. Inside CorelDRAW everything was vector graphics, but something was loast in the process. what happens with the graphics in the different steps in the process and eventually could explain a workaround to make everything look as vector in the final pdf file.
I've got a problem with the combine shapes > slice (cut) shapes. (Designer Pro X).
I often use this tool to cut a graphic to make a repeating object, so I don't want it to have any boarder, just solid color. But for some reason when I cut the shape xara puts a little (approx 1 pixel) transparent line where the shape has been cut. This is often added to exported to the edges of pngs and svgs and looks a bit like anti-aliasing of some sort but I don't want this, just a solid object.
How to avoid this? See my attachment for an example png that I created by simply slicing one rectangle from another, I want to be able to do this without the extra line appearing - ie just solid black.
I need to transform a lot of dashed (single) lines into separate lines... Who can tell me how to do this in a few clicks. I don't need an outline of the dashed line. So the black dashes I need, the white in between the dashes I want to loose.

I want to load in a background image, then draw some lines on it. Then I want to save ONLY the lines I drew as a PNG with a transparent background. I'm sure this is easy but I haven't used CorelDraw in a long time.

I don't know what a cut vector pdf is and I am very new to using illustrator. I just started using it two days ago for this specific project. I found the save to pdf option but I don't know what cut vector is, do I need to do something to cut it up or something?
I have creative cloud cs6 and am using illustrator cs6 for this project. I got no clue here what they are looking for. I can save it out to pdf is that what they mean? This is for an actual profesional printer they will be taking this to and they will make the sign from the file I give them.I have no idea about the file format for printing... When I open it from a .eps, .pdf, whatever, I get some of the text as vectors, but everything else is some sort of image on 1 layer.

I'm very new to illustrator and have been trying to turn a logo (png file) into a vector. The logo is white lettering with a transparent background and I cannot get the logo to show up properly so that I can work with it. When I try to open the logo in AI it shows up behind the artboard - and if I try to click on "image trace" the logo gets covered by the white box and I can't see anything.

I can create a dot pattern, no problem, creating swatches, patterns, or using blends, but where I'm hitting the wall is the gradient effect. Tried opacity masks, but that doesn't cut it. One other question I have is, what technique would I use if I wanted an offset dot pattern, say 45°.
I have only just got into using illustrator, after using photoshop for ages and getting bored with it, I have just made a vector image taken from a stock photo >here< at the moment it consists of 4 layers, one background white layer, a layer which has all the colour fills on, a layer with the outlines on it, and a final layer with some touch ups.
I realise now I should have made it in a much bigger size as I have been working on it at 400% and then scaled it down again on the nav and it just looks pathetic.
is there a way of resizing it as it is? or would I have to mess around with different progs and file formats?
I have had a quick browse to see if theres a thread on this subject, but cant seem to see anything of use.
