I have a part that was sent to me from a vendor. It was a large 80MB part so I put it in an assembly file and shrinkwrapped it to reduce the size of it. Now it is transparent and I can not figure out how to turn it off.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a tech illustrator taking our engineering models and creating dumb solids for architects to drop into CAD drawings. When I take an assembly and try to shrinkwrap it (with the Solid Bodies option) the file still has all the internal ribs and fillets and stand-outs. I have created extrudes to fill gaps and holes and even tried to create single pieces to assemble later to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout Substitute Shrink wrap parts, it doesn't automatic update when I use UPDATE or even REBUILD ALL inside the LOD with it, even if I don't break the link with the assembly it doesn't update, so I have to go in each assembly with Substitute parts ( with are many in huge projects) and then verify with "Check for updates" in the correct LOD (which in some cases are more than one per assembly). Is there a way to update them direct from the main assembly with rebuild all or something like that ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have always struggled with AutoCAD's text masking. I love the masking ability which makes drawings that are clean looking and easier to read. My issue is with the way the mask border is created. The mask creates a rectangular border that does not "shrink wrap" around the text. This can lead to masking more text than originally intended.
I am looking for a quick and easy way to wrap the mask around text. Right now the only way to accomplish the desired result is to explode the text into single lines and then mask each individual line. This creates issues with leaders and is a more time consuming process.
I'm trying to recreate a bunch of IV-Studio settings to match a bunch of renders made by previous staff that did not leave behind the assembly files they used to make them in the first place.
I've ran into a problem with some parts displaying incorrectly. (they display incorrectly in the render/in the studio environment/ in the assembly/ and when in the part file) I've played with material and appearance styles but they have no effect, I've also tried quality/performance/compatibility hardware modes.
We have 5 or 6 parts that share the ridge pattern that is causing problems and they are affected in the same way.I'm running XP(32), IV2012-sp2, fx1800 with 6.14.0012.6570 drivers.

I want to extract each photo out into its own file (as either JPEG or PNG).
Is there a faster way than selecting, creating a new file, pasting, and then saving?
Can I instantly create and save a new file based on the selected image area?

What is the best setting for shrink wrapping an assembly?
I've found shrink wrapping it as a surface causes problems with the video card when rotating the model and placing views on a drawing.
I have a part that I want to have made by rapid prototyping that will in turn be used as a pattern for casting alloy metal parts. I need to apply a factor to the part to compensate for the shrinkage that occurs when a metal part is poured in a molten stage and will cool to slightly smalller dimensions than the mold. Is there an easy way to do this without having to recreate the part to slightly larger dimensions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a part which is lets say 10ft long. Now I need to modify that to be 9.5ft. Is there a simple way to remove that .5ft from the center of the part?
I just need a way to cut out a .5ft section in the middle and then put the two remaining pieces back together. Doing this would be much easier than editing the sketches for the part, especially since I may have to change the amount that is cut out and that would change the number of holes and features.
Attached is a picture of the parts i have to edit and some lines to show the section that needs to get removed.

Here's the effect I'm going for, maybe a bit more glow and lines do not need to arc like that: [URL]
And like this: [URL]
I'm having a couple of problems: 1) if I put the network lines on the map it looks too flat so I think I need to apply them to a slightly larger invisible sphere; 2) when I add a blur/outer glow to the lines they do not wrap cleanly on the sphere, they kind of break up and distort. Plain lines do not seem to have this problem but objects with effects do.
How can you get the header text in a table to wrap to the next line?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Autodesk Inventor 2013 Product Design Suite. When I open a new instance of Inventor, I get the "Welcome!" window the pops up along with the blank inventor program. From here if I attempt to create a "new" file, it seems to just freeze. I cannot even get into the window that lets you pick which template you would like to use. I have tried creating from all 4 locations (Welcome!, general toolbar, Get Started, and Inventor's file equiv).
I have no problems opening files that have already been created which leads me to believe that there must be some error in bringing up that new template window. This makes converting my 3D models into 2D autoCAD files impossible.
I need to wrap some curve on a cylinder, after which i need to emboss the feature onto the cylinder.
I had sketches the curve and wrap it but was unable to emboss it to the cylinder.
Edited: I tried the boundary patch command. I was only managed to thicken/offset and then substract one patch with another one failed.
