View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to upgrade from paintshop pro x2 to x5 (want to go to 64 bit)but I have a severe problem. Here the steps to reproduce it:
1. open only one big tif file at a time (edit window) (from canon scanner 600 dpi A4 scan around 100 mb per file i think around 5500 to 3200 pixels)
2. sometimes i turn/rotate the picture first with the rotate tool (0 to 0,2 degrees)
3. use the crop/trim function to cut a small part of the edge
4. save the image and close it ( there is never more than one file opened in psp) its now around 80 mb in size dont close psp x5 and repeat steps 1 to 4 with other images. (with smaller 30mb images it did not happen and if I close x5 and reopen it after every 5th tif-image it does not happen too, so somewhere memory is not given free) When doing this when saving somewhere at the 7th - latest at the 10th image that image is saved corrupted.(it shows in the lower half vertical grey lines)
The big problem is: there is no error message and you only see that the image is corrupted when you view it again or if you see it in the thumbnail view of windows explorer.
second problem is that after doing an undo after a crop/trim step (3.) the picture is gone and the area is white.(dont save now!!)
x5 version is the current trial version (15.2 something - when i try to install sp2 it says its not necessary)
this happens on 2 different machines
mach 1: intel nuc i3217u 8GB ram, c drive 128 gb ssd, pic-drive: usb hd with 500 GB
mach 2: i7 2600k, 16 gb ram, cdrive 128 gb ssd, pic drivé: internal 2tb hd or internal ssd 256 gb (makes no difference)on both machines psp x5 system info only shows 4GB ram free so it seems its not really 64 bit programm.
I know that there is some loss of detail when a file is converted from a RAW format into a JPEG file due to compression of the file. What I didn't realize (based on what I've read and am being told) is that the quality of my original JPEG file can slowly degrade simply by opening..saving..and closing the file becaue each time you save a JPEG file, it recompresses the current data...which causes the file to loose additional detail.

I've written a lisp routine (cleanx) that works fine when you run it on a single drawing, but I'm having some trouble integrating it into a script. As it is currently, I'm experiencing several issues -
1) It prompts the user for an 'object' after finding 0 objects. It seems to be caused by the line,
(command "-layer" "u" "*" "t" "*" "on" "*" "" "")
in 'cleanx' based on the text window, but I'm not sure why it does that given that if I run cleanx directly it doesn't prompt me.
2) It ends with saying 'Really want to discard all changes to drawing?' which confused me as I use Qsave before I close, and then confused me further when I realized that the text window suggests that this prompt comes up after the 'open' command, and that if I type <Y> (exit without saving) then it asks me to select a file. Why doesn't it save, close and then open the next file automatically?

I have hundreds of web galleries that I need optimized. I need each photo opened and resaved. However, I need the photos to be saved via "save for web" so that the files end up being about 20-30 k. If I use just "save as > jpg" the files end up being about 100-130k. IMPORTANT NOTES: I want the current files to be overwritten (partly because, if I designate a destination, they will be unorganized, and partly because each photo comes in 4 diferent versions: bwlrg, bwsml, clrlrg, clrsml.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to recreate a bunch of IV-Studio settings to match a bunch of renders made by previous staff that did not leave behind the assembly files they used to make them in the first place.
I've ran into a problem with some parts displaying incorrectly. (they display incorrectly in the render/in the studio environment/ in the assembly/ and when in the part file) I've played with material and appearance styles but they have no effect, I've also tried quality/performance/compatibility hardware modes.
We have 5 or 6 parts that share the ridge pattern that is causing problems and they are affected in the same way.I'm running XP(32), IV2012-sp2, fx1800 with 6.14.0012.6570 drivers.
I just started shooting film again. Having just received back my first few rolls back scanned as JPEGs on to CD, I wanted to import these into my Lightroom library (LR5), but have been unable to do so.
I am trying to import them the same way I import RAW digital files, but when I try that way, they won't import. The only way they import is when there is no destination file set and they are simply stuck in a general "New Folder". Even when I try to simply rename the "new folder" to something more specific I am unable to do so.

using lightroom 4. i have edited a bunch of raw files in LR4, before i exported the files to jpegs i accidentally deleted the raw file from the hard drive. i ca n still see the the file and images in LR4 is there any way I can export them to jpegs or do anything with them so as I can use them?? yes I have also emptied the recycle bin

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am cleaning up the Hard Drive on my Mac G4. My scanned images are taking a great portion of the 80 Gig drive. I finished clearing my external drive by removing nearly 60 gigs of images by storing them on DVD. I will do the same for the Mac drive.
My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:
I got over 160 color corrected RAW files from my photographer when I thought I was getting TIf or PSD files. I need to put them into an in design doc to send out for printing. Is there a way to convert all of these in one fell swoop without messing up the work that has already been done?
I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need to do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so how to best go about this, or if I even can. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64.
I have 2 identical PSD files. Both have 10 different paths that are identical for each file. When I flatten and save one file as a jpeg the paths stay in the file just fine as is usually the case. When I open the jpeg the paths are still there as they should be.
When I save the other file as a jpeg all the paths are there after I've saved the file and BEFORE I've closed the file. After closing and reopening the file the paths are all gone. If I save the same file as a tiff the paths all stay as usual.
I am trying to use Elements 10 to convert Panasonic RAW files to JPEGs for web use. The batch runs, but prompts for a "save" location at every file. I have reinstalled Elements, reinstalled the Camera RAW update, and have ensured I have ownership of source and destination folders (in Windows 7).
I have tried several folders, set up test folders etc. and nothing seems to work.
I have many PSD files from photoshop – with layers, masks, adjustment layers, nested groups, smart filters, layer styles and editable text at 600dpi with embedded color profiles. The idea is to import them all into lightroom and make a book.
Should I flatten the files and make them into tiffs or jpegs?
Does it make sense to keep them at 600dpi or Blurb will downsample them to 300 anyway? (if so I would rather do it myself, if not is there an option to control the output resolution?) What happens to color? – How do I ensure the best match between what I see on the screen and what the book will look like?

First I love the way the VS Pro X4 do time-lapse! the question that I have is that I have a web camera for my job which is a IQEYE camera which take JPG snap shots, but these snap shots are put in folders by days and time. an example is like one folder would be May and inside that folder would be the day & inside the folder would be the hour then minutes. how can i input these folders into VS Pro x4 and make a time-lapse? because when I use Adobe Premiere Pro Cs3 or Cs5 I can input the folders into the program and make a time-lapse video. can this be done in VS Pro X4? View 2 Replies View RelatedI opened my catalog today and went to one of my folders (2011/9 September). I noticed that there were pictures in the folder that did not belong and had the wrong name attached to them. I was surprized so I right clicked selected "Show in Finder" the folder 2011/9 September opened the photo was not in the folder.
Knowing the folder it should be in I went there and sure it enough it is there with it's original name.Went back to lightroom optimized the catalog... still there. Deleted folder in Lightroom, reimported, but the files came back.
The folder on the finder has 96 pictures, the folder in Lightroom shows 146.I can deal with removing the 40 odd files in this situation but I am afraid it will occur in one of the folders where there are a couple of thousand images.All my other folders seem fine for now, what would cause this issue?
I've just bought a new Llaptop (PC) and I'm trying to take the LR 4.4 catalog off the old one to put on the new one. Trouble is, when I do this I've lost all my editing from past and jpegs are mixed in with the CR files.

In the Windows explorer these 'half' export files can't be delete unless Lr is closed. After deleting all the export files, reopening Lr and doing another export run, the same problem occurs, but now on other files. This problem seems to happen at random files.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to attach a number of tiff files to individual dwg files. There are about 300 so I am writting a script that will open a new dwg, insert the tiff and save the dwg at a given name, so i have filedia set to 0 and everything is user input.
The problem I am having is that when I use the iinsert command and enter the path for the tiff I get this error: (filename)was not found or is not valid. This is pathed to a network drive. When I copy the same folder to my c: drive and run the command everything works as should. is there any reason for this?

I noticed in the error message it cuts the end of the file name off. Is there a character limit?
I have done this before with a path to the network and everything worked as should. We have recently upgrade to 2013 but i would'nt think that would be an issue.
So basically, file on local drive everything inserts fine. File on network, get error.
