I know this makes me sound like a newbie but in lightroom 3 the raw files were listes as .crw when I imported them from iphoto but in lightroom 4.1 they are showing up as .jpg. Am I doing something wrong? Are these actually RAW files I am working with or is lightroom converting them before I get a chance to work with them.

However, the folder I have linked to Lightroom has the image. I have updated everything and have disconnected and reconnected every cable and it is still not working. I don't think it is the camera since I am getting the image in the tethering folder. I want to be able to see it in the Develop section of Lightroom so I can make sure I have the shot and edit if necessary.how to get it to transfer again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI encountered the following problem: wenn exporting multiple files from Lightroom as JPEG files, I get a random error message that Lr couldn't export some of these files. In the Windows explorer these 'half' export files can't be delete unless Lr is closed. After deleting all the export files, reopening Lr and doing another export run, the same problem occurs, but now on other files. This problem seems to happen at random files.

I have tried to problem solve this on my own and looked online but I am having no luck at all. I am not very savy with all of this keywording protocol to start with. View 7 Replies View Related I have many PSD files from photoshop – with layers, masks, adjustment layers, nested groups, smart filters, layer styles and editable text at 600dpi with embedded color profiles. The idea is to import them all into lightroom and make a book.
Should I flatten the files and make them into tiffs or jpegs?
Does it make sense to keep them at 600dpi or Blurb will downsample them to 300 anyway? (if so I would rather do it myself, if not is there an option to control the output resolution?) What happens to color? – How do I ensure the best match between what I see on the screen and what the book will look like?
Nikon D800 + LR4 import problem with dual card system:
I am transferring files to my computer (OSX, snow leopard) via USB cable. I am using dual card system with my camera: CF and SD. I am using the "backup" option which means that the content of both memory cards is identical. NEF + NEF with identical file names.
When the camera is connected to the computer and LR4 "import" is opened, LR4 does not show "D800 1" or "D800 2" -- it shows only "D800". This means that I cannot select a card which I would like to import the files from (like I can do with D700 or D3). And most of all, LR4 reacts inconsistently on "Don't import suspected duplicates". Usually, it wants to import all images on both cards -- this means that all files would be imported twice.
At the moment, in my D800, I have SD and CF with 3 identical NEF files on both cards. "Don't import suspected duplicates" is selected. In the import window I can see that LR4 wants to import 5 files: 0474+0474 (duplicates), 0475, 0476+0476 (duplicates). So, out from 6 images it recognizes that there is a one duplicate about to be imported, but those two others are not duplicates?
Have new computer 64 bit with dual drives (C: 111GB, E:1.36 TB) . C. drive operates Win 7. Do I install CS 6 and LR4.1 program on E drive along with catalog including phtos? or put CS^ and LR on C: and catalog and pictures on E:
View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported some RAW files into Lightroom 4, which I then copied/converted to DNG, then edited them. I now want to export them as full size, high-quality jpegs but I only seem to be able to export them at a maximum of about 800kb, which is far lower than full-size. Is this to do with first the conversion to DNG from RAW on the import? Am I best copying them from raw and not converting them to DNG at all? Next question is, will I have to import the original RAWs again and re-edit them to be able to export as full-size high quality jpegs or is there some way to not have to do them again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from Elements 9 to 11. I had no issues exporting from iphoto to 9, worked a treat. I have configured everything exactly the same, checked and double checked all the preferences and it will not work automatically. I can manually export to my desk to and it works fine, the raw file shows up in the bridging application and I can do whatever I need to. However, this is a bit long winded and as it worked so well before it is a little frustrating..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a new Mac Air, and have been using Iphoto '11 (9.4.2). I downloaded PSE 10 through the App Store. In Iphoto I have clicked the "advanced" tabs to use PSE 10 as external editor and to export files as RAW. However, whenever I try to open a RAW file in PSE 10, it becomes a JPEG. This is true for both NEF (Nikon d300) and RAF (Fujix-100) files. It is also true whether I try to open the file through Iphoto by clicking the edit button (with PSE 10 as the external editor), or opening the Iphoto file directly through PSE 10. Also, when in Iphoto, it shows the file accurately as either NEF or RAF), and I can use the RAW editing in Iphoto.
Meanwhile, PSE 10 has no problem opening either type as RAW when I use a source different than Iphoto, for example from the memory card directly out of the cameras.
My RAW files look washed out, in camera I introduced warm colours by setting it on cloudy and set to vivid. They look great in other programs, how do I retain the original colors?

I now get a "photoshop does not recognize this file type" when I try to open a raw file from Photoshop. When I try to open my raw files through bridge I get the message "you do not have permission to open the document. I have checked my permission preferences and have reading and writing permissions and updated to 6.7 ACR.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently studying Graphic Design and we're using Illustrator CS6 in class. I have CS5 at home. I've opened a few simple image files in CS5 after having worked on them in CS6 in class, and they seemed to hold up fine after the transfer between the two. However today we did work on layers, and now that I've brought it home and opened it in CS5, there's only one layer.
Is the swapping between the two versions going to cause me many problems like this, or is there simple corrections/way to avoid these issues? I'd rather not fork out for the CS6 version (I'm a struggling college student!) or illegally download it as I've caused computer problems in the past trying to do as such.
My son recently bought Photoshop Elements 11 and installed it on his computer. I would like to transfer my catalog of pictures to him and have it look just like it does on my computer with Album titles, keywords, etc. When we tried to do this by using a backup of my Photoshop Element files, it transferred the pictures and keywords but not the album titles or album organization. Also, the keywords were not in the same keyword categories that I had set up on my computer. Is it possible to do what I want, or do the pictures have to all be reorganized and put into albums again on his computer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a trial version of Elements 12. I used Elements 6 a few years ago on a PC, now I have a MAC and there's a lot of difference between version 6 and 12. I downloaded all of my I-photo files into the Organizer but would like to delete them now that I realize they are all jumbled up and basically useless. There are 5,000 photos & several hundred folders. I can't figure out how to select multiple folders to delete them from the organizer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 identical PSD files. Both have 10 different paths that are identical for each file. When I flatten and save one file as a jpeg the paths stay in the file just fine as is usually the case. When I open the jpeg the paths are still there as they should be.
When I save the other file as a jpeg all the paths are there after I've saved the file and BEFORE I've closed the file. After closing and reopening the file the paths are all gone. If I save the same file as a tiff the paths all stay as usual.
