Photoshop Elements :: RAW Files In IPhoto Open As JPG In 10?
Dec 20, 2012
I have a new Mac Air, and have been using Iphoto '11 (9.4.2). I downloaded PSE 10 through the App Store. In Iphoto I have clicked the "advanced" tabs to use PSE 10 as external editor and to export files as RAW. However, whenever I try to open a RAW file in PSE 10, it becomes a JPEG. This is true for both NEF (Nikon d300) and RAF (Fujix-100) files. It is also true whether I try to open the file through Iphoto by clicking the edit button (with PSE 10 as the external editor), or opening the Iphoto file directly through PSE 10. Also, when in Iphoto, it shows the file accurately as either NEF or RAF), and I can use the RAW editing in Iphoto.
Meanwhile, PSE 10 has no problem opening either type as RAW when I use a source different than Iphoto, for example from the memory card directly out of the cameras.
Before upgrading to PSE 10 for Mac, I would select a photo in iPhoto, click on edit and PSE 8 would open with the selected photo. Now PSE 10 will open but, there is no photo open in PSE 10.
I have a Mac with OSX8 and have previously been using PSE9 without any trouble. I've recently installed PSE12 but it cannot access the pictures in my iPhoto library for editing, even though I've changed the iPhoto settings to use PSE12 as the external editor. When I right click a picture in iPhoto and then click "edit in external editor", PSE12 opens but the worksurface is empty, and I can't figure out how to open the picture for editing. I have no problem editing photos that are on my desktop, so the problem seems to lie in communication between iPhoto and PSE12. I never had this problem with PSE9.
No picture selected for editing out of iPhoto shows up in Photoshop Elements 11 (trial version) even though Photoshop Elements is opening when selecting a picture for editing with external editor in iPhoto. Does this have to do with the trial version of PE 11?
I have just upgraded from Elements 9 to 11. I had no issues exporting from iphoto to 9, worked a treat. I have configured everything exactly the same, checked and double checked all the preferences and it will not work automatically. I can manually export to my desk to and it works fine, the raw file shows up in the bridging application and I can do whatever I need to. However, this is a bit long winded and as it worked so well before it is a little frustrating..
I downloaded a trial version of Elements 12. I used Elements 6 a few years ago on a PC, now I have a MAC and there's a lot of difference between version 6 and 12. I downloaded all of my I-photo files into the Organizer but would like to delete them now that I realize they are all jumbled up and basically useless. There are 5,000 photos & several hundred folders. I can't figure out how to select multiple folders to delete them from the organizer.
In all previous versions of Elements, if you set your editing in iPhoto preferences to Elements it would send the file to Elements and open in the Editor.. with this version when I do the same, it only opens the editor but no picture to edit..
Okay I've just purchased Photoshop Elements 11. I am knew to photoshop and I have a couple of questions. First, when I transfer my files from iphoto will I be taking up double the space on my computer by having them in both iphoto and photoshop? Second, when I edit pictures is it possible to save the original photo I'm working with?
All of the photos are square, clipped drastically from what they should be. From what I take, by doing instructions on how to do this, all I had to do was drag the iPhoto library into an open LR5 window.
I transferred my iPhoto collection into Elements 11 and the process went smoothly. However, the photos are all mixed up and not according to dates. Is this normal?
I just installed PSE 10. I went to iPhoto Preferences and clicked PSE 10 as the editor. I double click on a photo in iPhoto and PSE 10 opens up but there is no image there.
Unable to complete export of Jpeg photos from iPhoto into PSE 11. Get the message "Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the JPEG data."
I am currently trialling PSE 11. I would prefer to keep iPhoto as my organiser while using PSE 11 as my editor. However, it appears that I have to create a separate PSE library meaning that the edits made in PSE will not be reflected in the iPhoto library.
Other than manually importing and exporting photos between the libraries is there a way round this?
I have recently bought a new Nikon D7100 camera . When I try to open some NEF raw files, Photoshop Elements 11 complains my camera is not on the Camerra Raw list. I have tried for hours and hours to see how to fix this ... I have done the usual look at the plug-ins etc - the plug-in states I haev version 7.4 - which according to the blurb means D7100 files should be Ok ... beginning to get a bit pee'd off now with Adobe......
I've been using Photoshop Elements 11 for several months with my laptop running Windows 8. All of a sudden today I can't open jpegs. I click "open," navigate to the picture I want to open and nothing happens. I tried holding down, Ctrl, Alt, Shift when starting the editor to reset preferences and that did nothing. I even tried going to Preferences and clicking Reset Preferences on next launch and that also did nothing.
I have exactly the same problem as pewter23 but with Elements 9, but raw files from my old 400D open ok. I have updated through the Help tab but this had made no difference.
I use MediaPro to manage my media assets and it allows me to pass files to PE10 with an "Open With..." feature. So I can have a file selected in MediaPro, and then open that file with PE by using this feature. It worked great with PE8, but for some reason I cannot get it to work with PE10. When I use the feature, PE10 opens, but to a blank page - the actual image fails to come into the program.
I know the problem is NOT with MediaPro, since this worked flawlessly with PE8. The problem appears to be with PE10.
