I process in Lightroom 4 on a Mac Air when traveling. When I return I want to transfer those processed images to my home MacbookPro computer. I think there is a way to attach the Lightroom changes to the photos and then import them into the home computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this makes me sound like a newbie but in lightroom 3 the raw files were listes as .crw when I imported them from iphoto but in lightroom 4.1 they are showing up as .jpg. Am I doing something wrong? Are these actually RAW files I am working with or is lightroom converting them before I get a chance to work with them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use lightroom to tether but recently I have not been seeing my image in lightroom. It is stuck on "transferring files from camera." However, the folder I have linked to Lightroom has the image. I have updated everything and have disconnected and reconnected every cable and it is still not working. I don't think it is the camera since I am getting the image in the tethering folder. I want to be able to see it in the Develop section of Lightroom so I can make sure I have the shot and edit if necessary.how to get it to transfer again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to export some files (all morning - note my frustration) to a new stock agency, but when I do a File>Export my Lightroom 4 generated Keywords are not in the files. I have tried to problem solve this on my own and looked online but I am having no luck at all. I am not very savy with all of this keywording protocol to start with. I am sure it is something simple like a box that needs to be checked or unchecked.

I am transferring files to my computer (OSX, snow leopard) via USB cable. I am using dual card system with my camera: CF and SD. I am using the "backup" option which means that the content of both memory cards is identical. NEF + NEF with identical file names.
When the camera is connected to the computer and LR4 "import" is opened, LR4 does not show "D800 1" or "D800 2" -- it shows only "D800". This means that I cannot select a card which I would like to import the files from (like I can do with D700 or D3). And most of all, LR4 reacts inconsistently on "Don't import suspected duplicates". Usually, it wants to import all images on both cards -- this means that all files would be imported twice.
At the moment, in my D800, I have SD and CF with 3 identical NEF files on both cards. "Don't import suspected duplicates" is selected. In the import window I can see that LR4 wants to import 5 files: 0474+0474 (duplicates), 0475, 0476+0476 (duplicates). So, out from 6 images it recognizes that there is a one duplicate about to be imported, but those two others are not duplicates?
Have new computer 64 bit with dual drives (C: 111GB, E:1.36 TB) . C. drive operates Win 7. Do I install CS 6 and LR4.1 program on E drive along with catalog including phtos? or put CS^ and LR on C: and catalog and pictures on E:

Basically here is my problem, the designer does all the design, plan and profile, than he sends to me to put in the notes for the plan views, not knowing if when I save the file it will mess up his profile, he jsut copy pasted the notes I put in into his original file, as oppose to jsut overriding it. So in essence we are doing double work..
another thing, he sent me the proposed base file, and when I got it I got big text saying that there is a broken reference. I went ahead and made some changes and sent back to him thinking it would go away cause it will find the reference on his computer, but it didnt. And than he said that the drawing I sent him didnt have any settings under "toolspace" like his original did.
I have a laptop and desk computer both loaded with Premiere Pro. Is there anyway I can access my video files from either computer using the cloud? I've just opened up the software on the desk based PC and can't see any of the video projects I've been working on using my laptop.

I now get a "photoshop does not recognize this file type" when I try to open a raw file from Photoshop. When I try to open my raw files through bridge I get the message "you do not have permission to open the document. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently studying Graphic Design and we're using Illustrator CS6 in class. I have CS5 at home. I've opened a few simple image files in CS5 after having worked on them in CS6 in class, and they seemed to hold up fine after the transfer between the two. However today we did work on layers, and now that I've brought it home and opened it in CS5, there's only one layer.
Is the swapping between the two versions going to cause me many problems like this, or is there simple corrections/way to avoid these issues? I'd rather not fork out for the CS6 version (I'm a struggling college student!) or illegally download it as I've caused computer problems in the past trying to do as such.
My son recently bought Photoshop Elements 11 and installed it on his computer. I would like to transfer my catalog of pictures to him and have it look just like it does on my computer with Album titles, keywords, etc. When we tried to do this by using a backup of my Photoshop Element files, it transferred the pictures and keywords but not the album titles or album organization. Also, the keywords were not in the same keyword categories that I had set up on my computer. Is it possible to do what I want, or do the pictures have to all be reorganized and put into albums again on his computer?

However, the restore process to the new computer apparently renames the photo file when you do the restore. I would like to maintain the original file names. When using lightroom on my PC I download the images to an external hard drive. When I am away from home can I use lightroom on my laptop and down load images to the same external hard drive and process them and have lightroom on the PC locate them when I return home.

I have two big issues with syncing edits between my iMac (computer A) and Macbook Pro (computer B). My workflow has been as follows:
Import photo shoot onto computer A as DNG into master catalog. Do some edits. Export all DNGs as "Original" from shoot to desktop and copy over to computer B. Import shoot folder in master catalog on computer B, edits are held. Finish editing the entire shoot on B and export folder as a catalog without exporting the DNG files. Back on computer A, import to shoot folder from another catalog to sync edits and metadata changes.
My issues:
1. When edits actually do sync back on A, everything syncs EXCEPT for virtual copies, they are no where to be found. Even when exporting from B as a catalog, the dialogue box says "79 virtual copies to be exported." They just never show up back on computer A.
2. Biggest issue. On computer A, I work in one master catalog. Some shoot folders are still on the internal hard drive while most are housed on a Drobo. It seems the reason why edits will never sync back (changes arent found when importing from another catalog) is because LR4 is only looking on the INTERNAL disk of computer A. The import seems to not look for the photos that are housed on the Drobo. I think this because whenever I try to import back to A, LR4 tries to create a new folder in the catalog on the internal disk. The below screenshot shows what I mean. 0512-SpeedyFamily is the shoot Im editing between A & B, but LR4 tries to import them back onto the internal disk (upper portion of folders) and created the ?2012 folder.
I am running LR 4.2 on both machines, just havent installed the latest update yet.
I am trying to work out if it is possible to share some of my images between my computers.
I have currently put all the images I want to work on in a separate collection on my main mac, I have keyworded, but not finished all editing.
What I would like to do is transfer to my mobile hdd and edit on my laptop and then once finished transfer back to my main mac.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a master desktop catalog and temporay laptop catalog, both OSX computers with Lightroom 4. I am trying to copy the catalog and photos from the laptop to the desktop with little success. On the desktop when I try "import from another catalog" and choose the laptop catalog I get different errors that make it so I cannot import. For one, the drop down box "copy new photos to a new location and import" DOES NOT SHOW UP! I can only "add new photos to catalog without moving."
So I am thinking permissions and.or ownership issues. I have tried to login as a different user,change ownership of the catalog and preview files and the photos and gave r/w previlegious and login in as ADMINISTRATOR also, nothing working. I did have success keeping the stream simple: Created a new account as ME on the laptop, creating a new catalog while loged in as ME and did the import of the catalog as ME on the desktop.
WHen i travel, i use a laptop to handle my photos. When i return home i would like to move the pictures to my main computer, but i have already processed them and spent a fair amount of time on them. How can i move the already processed photos across computers using LR4?

using AutoCAD '10. I have a free trial of 2013 to preview before buying and I'm doing some freelance work with an opportunity to be hired full time. The comany I am working for has a pen set that they sent to me in an e-mail. In order to send PDF's of my work back I must use this pen set. The pen files are from an earlier version of AutoCAD- 2007 and are attachments in an e-mail.

I won't use DNG. Details: I mainly use my older MacBook Pro, but would like to be able to use my PC as it's way better (Specs: i5 2500K, 16GB RAM, SSD, USB3, nVidia GTX 560 TI etc.). I have 2 external HDs that I could use, one for Backup and one for the actual Photos/Edits. I'll probably need to use it as my internal HDs are quite full, and I can't just delete stuff or move it to an (Developer programs, Lossless music, etc.).
Based on this, how do I back up the whole thing e.g. Photos folder (all photos and edits, and preferably presets too)?
