Photoshop Elements :: Transferring Files To A Different Computer
May 4, 2013
My son recently bought Photoshop Elements 11 and installed it on his computer. I would like to transfer my catalog of pictures to him and have it look just like it does on my computer with Album titles, keywords, etc. When we tried to do this by using a backup of my Photoshop Element files, it transferred the pictures and keywords but not the album titles or album organization. Also, the keywords were not in the same keyword categories that I had set up on my computer. Is it possible to do what I want, or do the pictures have to all be reorganized and put into albums again on his computer?
I just transferred cs5 to my new imac computer using my time machine backup. I now get a "photoshop does not recognize this file type" when I try to open a raw file from Photoshop. When I try to open my raw files through bridge I get the message "you do not have permission to open the document. I have checked my permission preferences and have reading and writing permissions and updated to 6.7 ACR.
Nikon D800 + LR4 import problem with dual card system:
I am transferring files to my computer (OSX, snow leopard) via USB cable. I am using dual card system with my camera: CF and SD. I am using the "backup" option which means that the content of both memory cards is identical. NEF + NEF with identical file names.
When the camera is connected to the computer and LR4 "import" is opened, LR4 does not show "D800 1" or "D800 2" -- it shows only "D800". This means that I cannot select a card which I would like to import the files from (like I can do with D700 or D3). And most of all, LR4 reacts inconsistently on "Don't import suspected duplicates". Usually, it wants to import all images on both cards -- this means that all files would be imported twice.
At the moment, in my D800, I have SD and CF with 3 identical NEF files on both cards. "Don't import suspected duplicates" is selected. In the import window I can see that LR4 wants to import 5 files: 0474+0474 (duplicates), 0475, 0476+0476 (duplicates). So, out from 6 images it recognizes that there is a one duplicate about to be imported, but those two others are not duplicates?
Have new computer 64 bit with dual drives (C: 111GB, E:1.36 TB) . C. drive operates Win 7. Do I install CS 6 and LR4.1 program on E drive along with catalog including phtos? or put CS^ and LR on C: and catalog and pictures on E:
I'm need to transfer my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 catalog and photo files to a new computer. I've done the full backup of the catalog and photo files. However, the restore process to the new computer apparently renames the photo file when you do the restore. I would like to maintain the original file names. How do migrate the catalog and files to a new pc while maintaining the folder structure and the original file names?
I’m going to be getting a new computer soon and was wondering about how to change over my Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 to the new computer. In the past, when upgrading to a new computer, I could deactivate Photoshop through the help menu. Photoshop CC no longer shows that option, and since only two copies are allowed at once, I’m at a loss as to how to retire the copy I have now and switch the account to the new computer in such a way that Adobe can verify I have done so. I also have both Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 on another computer.
I currently have CS6 on my desktop. If I buy a new computer is there any problems with Re-registering the program from my old and downloading it to the new?
Photoshop CS5 is up and running on my new iMac all-in-one. However, when I transferred my photos from my old PC (Photoshop 6.0) the captions from all .psd files transferred successfully but none of the captions from .jpeg files transferred. I used a simple transfer of the photos from an external disk to "My Pictures" on the iMac. How can I redo this transfer so that ALL of the captions get transferred?
I want to move my PS and other adobe apps over to the new one. What do I need to do beside deleting the copy of PS on my old computer to make everything on the up and up?
I know it can be done, and I think I've even done it before, but I cannot remember/figure out how to maintain tag info when I transfer files. I have a new computer and would like to transfer some photos, but want to keep the tags attached, so I don't have to retag! Please help! I've written the tag information into the file and tried backup, export, and burn. The photos transfer, but no tag information.
Much has been written about how to create smart previews, and how to work with them, but I am unclear about how to get them from my desktop to my laptop. The smart previews were created in a collection on my desktop. I'd like to take that collection over to the laptop. I have a usb thumb drive with plenty of space. Specifically, what is the proceedure to get the previews onto the thumb drive, and then view them on the laptop, using Lightroom? Further info: The laptop does not have a copy of the desktop's catalogue.
How does one transfer all of the relevant files of PSE to a new computer? Example, I have PSE 7 on Computer A and want to transfer/setup on Computer B all of the relevant files needed by PSE 7. I do know the location of the files of the pictures but I do not know where the PSE data is located so that I do not have to re-create the catalogs and albums on the new computer.
I have PSE 12 (same license) installed on two computers. Each computer has its own file system and PSE catalog. Question: How to I transfer a album (with photo files) from computer A to computer B?.
After completing adjustments to raw images and clicking Open Image the adjusted image appears in Photoshop CS5 as a checker board only.Working with CS5 and Windows 7
i have pse9 on a xp machine. what do i need to do to have it work on my new windows 8.1 machine? i downloaded the program originally so i don't have a cd.
I transferred my iPhoto collection into Elements 11 and the process went smoothly. However, the photos are all mixed up and not according to dates. Is this normal?
The process should be an easy one -- BUT, my new copy of Elements 9 does not list under the FILE column, anything that looks like or works like "Catalogue".
Instead of the listing as per the Adobe tutorial as follows: FILE (then) Get Photos & Videos, (or) New, (or) Open recently edited in Editor, (or) Catalogue
My new software lists the following: FILE (then) New, (or) Open, (or) Open As, (or) Open recently Edited File, (or) Duplicate.
[No sign of Catalogue to be found anywhere -- hence impossible to transfer files/catalogues.]
Note: I use elements for its catalogue function with Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5. New camera required updated RAW-read ability from the old Elements 5.
how do I transfer my photo library from photoshop elements 10(on my external hard drive) to a new installation of photoshop elements 10 on a new computer? The first installation was on a computer with low virtual memory. I tried top fix the problem by putting in on my external hardrive. Ten, I just got a new computer and reinstalled elements, buit can't figure out how to transfer my library over to the new one.
How do I transfer both the tags and the ratings (stars) from PSE 5 to PSE 11? I have years worth of pictures tagged with names and rated with stars and can't figure out how to transfer them all to PSE 11. I'm on Windows 8.
Cannot find picture when transferring from Aperture to PSE 11...I have an older version of PSE and when I transferred a picture from Aperture to PSE9 it would open PSE9 and show the picture.
I set the Preps in Aperture for PSE 11 and the PSE 11 opens but no picture in the box or photo bin or in the top left "open".I changed the Aperture setting to the PSE Organizer and the same thing happened Organizer open BUT there was no picture to be found.
In Aperture it shows the file being transferred.I looked in the PSE 11 preps and file but could not find anything. The fact that it opens the PSE 11 app tells me it is being recognized but the picture (file) is going somewhere else.
I process in Lightroom 4 on a Mac Air when traveling. When I return I want to transfer those processed images to my home MacbookPro computer. I think there is a way to attach the Lightroom changes to the photos and then import them into the home computer.
I'm currently studying Graphic Design and we're using Illustrator CS6 in class. I have CS5 at home. I've opened a few simple image files in CS5 after having worked on them in CS6 in class, and they seemed to hold up fine after the transfer between the two. However today we did work on layers, and now that I've brought it home and opened it in CS5, there's only one layer.
Is the swapping between the two versions going to cause me many problems like this, or is there simple corrections/way to avoid these issues? I'd rather not fork out for the CS6 version (I'm a struggling college student!) or illegally download it as I've caused computer problems in the past trying to do as such.
