Lightroom :: Keywords Not Transferring To Files / When Do File -> Export?
Sep 11, 2012
I have been trying to export some files (all morning - note my frustration) to a new stock agency, but when I do a File>Export my Lightroom 4 generated Keywords are not in the files. I have tried to problem solve this on my own and looked online but I am having no luck at all. I am not very savy with all of this keywording protocol to start with. I am sure it is something simple like a box that needs to be checked or unchecked.
If I select and keyword RAWs (not doing any image adjustments) in L4 on a mac air on the road, how do I later (after moving these RAWs to another computer with L4) export my selection and keywords to it for image editing? Is this possible? Hoping to do the 'boring' stuff on the road, then working on them on a larger computer at home...
I have over 60,000 assets that I need to export from Cumulus. All of the keywords have been added in Cumulus. How do I export these assets from Cumulus in order for the keywords to be acknowledged when imported into Lightroom?
In my keyword hierarchy I group words under category words that shall not be included on export and therefore "include on export" is unchecked for them. LR 4 includes them anyway and I have to to spend a lot of time removing them in Bridge.
When I move a photo with LR keywords from LR to PSE 9, the keywords do not move with the file the majority of the time. Sometimes the keywords move, but most of the time they do not. Why? Is there a secret, or is there something that needs to be done to assure that LR keywords move with the file into PSE 9.
After keywording, why do only some of my keywards show up on export? I know I can double click on the keyword list and choose include on export but how can I make that the default and why are some doing it and others don't?
When I export an image with existing keywords they showup in the file properties when I open the new image in Windows Explorer. When I re-import that new file back into Lightroom I find that none of the original keywords are visible. This had not been an issue in previous versions of Lightroom.
I would like to only export a small subset of the keyword tags I have defined. So my idea is to turn off keyword export for all keywords, then turn it back on for just those few. But I can't see how to toggle export for more than one keyword at once. Since I have hundreds of keywords, it isn't very practical for me to do it one by one.
As a photojournalist I upload my pictures to news agencies, using captions and keywords to add information to the files. While captions work fine, the keyword formation of Lightroom puts me in trouble, when I export the files to upload them to the agencies.
I would need the keywords to be separated by commas, like here:
Germany, Berlin, Angela Merkel, Politics
Unfortunately, when I export the images, Lightroom writes them without separation-commas (only puts the keywords in separate lines), like this:
I process in Lightroom 4 on a Mac Air when traveling. When I return I want to transfer those processed images to my home MacbookPro computer. I think there is a way to attach the Lightroom changes to the photos and then import them into the home computer.
I know this makes me sound like a newbie but in lightroom 3 the raw files were listes as .crw when I imported them from iphoto but in lightroom 4.1 they are showing up as .jpg. Am I doing something wrong? Are these actually RAW files I am working with or is lightroom converting them before I get a chance to work with them.
I use lightroom to tether but recently I have not been seeing my image in lightroom. It is stuck on "transferring files from camera." However, the folder I have linked to Lightroom has the image. I have updated everything and have disconnected and reconnected every cable and it is still not working. I don't think it is the camera since I am getting the image in the tethering folder. I want to be able to see it in the Develop section of Lightroom so I can make sure I have the shot and edit if necessary.how to get it to transfer again?
When exporting files using the export command, only some keyworks will show up in the File info panel (even if I select all). But if I open the same image from Lightroom with the "Edit photo with Photoshop CS-6" all the keywords show up in the file info panel.
Nikon D800 + LR4 import problem with dual card system:
I am transferring files to my computer (OSX, snow leopard) via USB cable. I am using dual card system with my camera: CF and SD. I am using the "backup" option which means that the content of both memory cards is identical. NEF + NEF with identical file names.
When the camera is connected to the computer and LR4 "import" is opened, LR4 does not show "D800 1" or "D800 2" -- it shows only "D800". This means that I cannot select a card which I would like to import the files from (like I can do with D700 or D3). And most of all, LR4 reacts inconsistently on "Don't import suspected duplicates". Usually, it wants to import all images on both cards -- this means that all files would be imported twice.
At the moment, in my D800, I have SD and CF with 3 identical NEF files on both cards. "Don't import suspected duplicates" is selected. In the import window I can see that LR4 wants to import 5 files: 0474+0474 (duplicates), 0475, 0476+0476 (duplicates). So, out from 6 images it recognizes that there is a one duplicate about to be imported, but those two others are not duplicates?
Have new computer 64 bit with dual drives (C: 111GB, E:1.36 TB) . C. drive operates Win 7. Do I install CS 6 and LR4.1 program on E drive along with catalog including phtos? or put CS^ and LR on C: and catalog and pictures on E:
Say I have 15 images with the same 10 keywords in every file. One of the keywords is "banana" and I want to remove it from all 15 files. I select all the 15 files. When I do that one becomes "active" (it gets lighter gray highlight than the 14 other images). I then go to the Keywording panel and manually remove "banana" from the list.
When I look through files to see the change all but the one that was active STILL has the "banana" keyword applied. I have also tried selecting the 15 files and made the file without the banana keyword active and run "Sync Metadata" and removed "banana" from the "Keywords" field in the dialog box. Same thing happens. No change to the files that aren't active.
Keywords I assign to photos in Lightroom do not show up as "tags" when I view the photo's properties in Windows Live Photo Gallery. Is it possible to embed keywords assigned in Lightroom to the properties of the photo file?
I'm finally incorporating LR to my Bridge / ACR / PS workflow.I have a very detailed keyword tree that I use in Bridge. This tree is organized in a hierarchical manner, and some of the keywords have synonyms or in case of taxonomy, common and latin names separeted by " ;"
I imported the keyword list into LR and also selected the option to import the xmp along with the files. The problem is that LR is now creating a new keyword for every word I have in the list!
I think one of the issues is that ";" is an illegal caracter in LR, but I'm not sure how to fix it without having to rewrite the entire thing. Also, is this the only issue?
Changing the keyword list only will not fix it because I have thousands of images with these keywords already, and it would be impossible to redo them all.
My plan is to fix this and delete everything from the catalog before I import the files again.
adding a preset to already edited photos without changing the edit. Basically I will edit an entire wedding and then I go back and pick out favorites for my bride and like to add the same artistic edit over them. Since they are already all edited to my clean beautiful photo, (color balance, exsposure, editing for maybe none ideal lighting during ceremony) I would think there would be an easy way to add a preset without having it change all my adjustments I made so to speed up my process. I know If I bring my photos to photoshop and bring them back into lightroom it pretty much resets it to basic
I have just edited a number of photos on my computer by adding ratings and keywords. I tried to export them to an external hard drive, so I could free up space on my computer, but I discovered that copies of those photos already existed on the external HD. I selected the "overwrite" option, but the ratings and keywords didn't copy over from the computer versions to the hard drive versions. Is there a way of doing that?
How can I move many nested keywords back into the main listing of keywords? I was up late a few nights ago and never noticed that about 80 new keywords were being placed as (nested?) under another keyword. How can I get them back from under that keyword and into the main keywrod list?
Lightroom has a collection containing all images without keywords.
As soon as I apply a keyword to images they instantly disappear from the collection. This is alright when I only want to apply a single keyword, but how do I stop it happening when I want to apply multiple keywords to the same image(s)?
I just moved to a new computer and was wanting to get all of my keywords that I used in Bridge to catagorize my photos onto the new machine. How can this be done?
When I try to export retouched files to hard drive files my Mac crashes and has to be force quitted. I thought this maybe a L'room 4 problem so I bought L'room 5 and it's still happening. What can I do?
When trying to export RAW files to TIF files I get following Warning message:
Unable to Export:
An internal error has occured: Win32 API error 2 ("The system cannot find the file specified.") when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute.
This happpens in LR 4 and I never had this problem in previuos version.
After completing adjustments to raw images and clicking Open Image the adjusted image appears in Photoshop CS5 as a checker board only.Working with CS5 and Windows 7
