Can I have the RAW files record onto the camera CF card and only the small jpegs go into the computer?
Want to shoot RAW but need the tethered computer to not slow down with ingesting huge RAW files.
I am interested in shooting with my D700 and lightroom 3 tethered. Is it possible for the image to be recored both on the card and on the tethered computer?

I get the message " Some import operations were not performed. the following files were not imported because they could not be read (all images on the card are listed). I have re-downloaded LR 4 and restarted my mac (OSX 10.8.5). LR also will not let me import the same images from I-Photo , it gives the same message as when using the camera card..

View 5 Replies View RelatedI remove an SD card from the Camera (canon 60d) Load it into my card reader and have it read by lightroom 5.0 and load the pictures into the catalog. I remove the card from lightroom and place it back into the camera. The camera indicates the card is not readable. However formating the card makes it usable. Lightroom 5.0 renders the card unreadable!

For my particular workflow, I find that loading thumbnails as step 1 of the import process to not be of much value for me.
I would prefer to load all images from the camera CF card directly into my "Import" folder in Lightroom without having to first view and select images for import.
Step 2 for me would then distribute the images into other named folders in LR prior to the development, skipping the thumbnail phase of the process.
So, the Q: Is there any setting that allows importation into a selected folder in LR without first going through the thumbnail process?
Shooting tethered only seems to allow me to store the images in lightroom, not on my camera - really would like to do both

View 4 Replies View RelatedI uploaded some mono images from my Canon EOS5D(2) taken with an orange filter. Previous uploads have been fine. This time, after showing the mono images in the catalogue they all convert spontaneously to orange images of various shades - and the images also show colours. The camera setting was correct, on checking, for mono uploads and, in any case, never a problem before. What have I done wrongly - and is there any rescue? Lightroom is v2.7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI encountered the following problem: wenn exporting multiple files from Lightroom as JPEG files, I get a random error message that Lr couldn't export some of these files. In the Windows explorer these 'half' export files can't be delete unless Lr is closed. After deleting all the export files, reopening Lr and doing another export run, the same problem occurs, but now on other files. This problem seems to happen at random files.

View 5 Replies View Related I have many PSD files from photoshop – with layers, masks, adjustment layers, nested groups, smart filters, layer styles and editable text at 600dpi with embedded color profiles. The idea is to import them all into lightroom and make a book.
Should I flatten the files and make them into tiffs or jpegs?
Does it make sense to keep them at 600dpi or Blurb will downsample them to 300 anyway? (if so I would rather do it myself, if not is there an option to control the output resolution?) What happens to color? – How do I ensure the best match between what I see on the screen and what the book will look like?
I imported some RAW files into Lightroom 4, which I then copied/converted to DNG, then edited them. I now want to export them as full size, high-quality jpegs but I only seem to be able to export them at a maximum of about 800kb, which is far lower than full-size. Is this to do with first the conversion to DNG from RAW on the import? Am I best copying them from raw and not converting them to DNG at all? Next question is, will I have to import the original RAWs again and re-edit them to be able to export as full-size high quality jpegs or is there some way to not have to do them again?

Then lists ALL files on CF card
I tried copying CR2 files to a temporary folder on my desktop but get exactly the same message. Also tried importing iPhone images and get exactly the same message.
This all worked for the first week LR5 was installed and has just started happening after a week
Have no problems at all in Lightroom 4.4
I have been using Lighroom4.3 for nearly a year now with no problems. All of a sudden, it refuses to import any of my NEF files from my SD card. I have tried all my SD cards to no avail. In the import window the files appear as thumbnails, but when I ask to import I get the message 'Files were not imported because they could not be read (3)'
My camera is a Nikon D3000.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded lightroom 5.4 the other day and today was the first time I went to download images with it.
I could review all my images before I plugged my card into the card reader and attempted to download them, when I opened the import window in lightroom the first image on the card had a preview, but it was greyed out and the rest of the images came up with the .CR2 icon and when I tried to import them I got an error message saying that the files cannot be read.
I tried ejecting the card and putting it back in my camera, but now I can't see the images on my camera either or save them manually to my hard drive.
The files are from a Canon 5D mk II and I shot all the images in RAW with no JPG's.
I just installed LR5 on a MAC. I have pics to import from cards, one card loaded no problem, the next card brought up the images and when I go to import them I recieve a message saying "Some Import Operations Were not Performed." giving me the following 2 errors (1) and (563)last night it was (1) and (504) and (505). Seems like it is reading the images as it pulls them up, just not moving them. I have reviewed everything from Permissions to loading the cards with no problem in LR4.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I use LR to import the RAW files directly from a CF card, there are preview images (but I don't know how to import and save to a different HDD yet so I am still transferring files with Nikon Transfer NX)), but if I use Nikon Transfer to move the NEFs to the HDD, LR reports that it can't read the RAW files. I am using the same NEF format as what I use with ny Nikon D300 (14 bit, uncompressed) and LR will read those files.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAnytime I open a jpg in CS4 it brings up camera raw. In Cs3, there was an option in file handling called "prefer adobe camera raw for jpeg" I cannot find its equivalent in CS4. I also did uncheck "always open jpeg files with settings using camera raw".

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded to LR5, and today noticed when importing a job that half the images I wanted to import were greyed out and hovering over one a pop-up stated "This photo has already been imported" - but that's ridiculous because I just took it and have NOT imported it yet.
A search on my system shows that the file 0L2A9857.CR2 does exist - But yesterday's job just won't import - the only way I can add it is to manually copy the files in Finder and then perform an Add import in LR5.
Surely it's not a setting issue, right? I'm using LR5 just as I used LR4, and even toggling the Don't Import Suspected Duplicates checkbox doesn't achieve anything.
In Lightroom 3.6 when I click on a thumbnail to enlarge it to "fit" the page it sometimes comes in very small (432x288) even though the pixels are set to 1440 in catalog settings, and I cannot seem to enlarge the image.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy computer randomly blue screened and has done a few times since. All error codes and recent activity suggested a faulty driver recently installed. The newest thing i have installed was my Intuos 4 new drivers, but i found that removing them made no difference. Looking through my windows event log files, i found that my graphics card drivers had ran into some erros not long ago, so i updated my drivers (NVidia 9800GT (512MB vm)). I had a blue screen today since updating them, directly reffering to my graphics tablet drivers again, but this time the new ones.Also, i have noticed that explorer seems slower now, and programs close fast-ish still, but they close from top to bottom as if something crashed instead, and fourced them to close. I also am getting much more distortion on my desktop than usual, such as remains of windows previously open, or the dashed box that shows when you click and drag on the desktop staying there. A simple refresh gets rid of it, but i don't know if it is linked.

I have tested the card reader, another card (which also imports images on a angle), and importing images through Iphoto - incidentally importing images correctly. The images are fine viewed on the back of my D800. I'm thinking it must be the upgrade as I've never experienced this before.

I bought a new computer and am trying to transfer my files from the old computer to the new one. I thought I had it done right, brought the photos into the new computer, and then started working away. I have now discovered, none of my .jpg photos brought over the changes made. For instance, if I go into the Develop mode, all controls are set to "0". I revisited the old computer, and they are not all set to "0" there. What have I done and how do I correct this? I'll never change computers again with Lightroom.
