I have CS3 Windows and have been reading Kelby's book 7-Point System where he opens jpegs into camera raw. However, the explanation is poorly written for someone who has never done that.
View 2 RepliesAnytime I open a jpg in CS4 it brings up camera raw. In Cs3, there was an option in file handling called "prefer adobe camera raw for jpeg" I cannot find its equivalent in CS4. I also did uncheck "always open jpeg files with settings using camera raw".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of editing photos from our old website to be used on a new website. I am finding that half of the photos I have will not open in Adobe Photoshop. The error message reads: "Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."

What does this mean? How can I fix it? These are the only JPEGS I have of these photos!
Using Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9 and JPEGs are opening with Camera RAW dialog.
Prefs are set to open with PS CS3.
I have Windows Vista (not sure if that makes a difference) and when I save jpegs as a new jpeg (or even if i just click 'save'), the new or improved jpeg does not show up in windows explorer. It's as if they don't even exist.However, I can find them if I open them through CS3. I've tried 'save as'. i tried saving as a copy, renamnig it, saving for web and devices as a jpeg, saving, yeah. And I'm not saving them as progressive jpegs, either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with Photoshop CS. When I double-click on a tiff, jpeg, or Photoshop file it launches the program, but it won't open the image. In order to do that I must go to file and choose open. This is much more trouble. I can't figure out why. My photoshop guru friend couldn't figure out why. Any ideas?
Also, and this may or may not be related. When I open the program I get the following message: For Photoshop UI to display correctly, open System Preferences, click General, and turn off text smoothing for font sizes 8 and smaller.
The weird thing is, when I did what message suggested, I discovered that there was no "text smoothing" option to turn off under Preference (under General) in Photoshop. There is no General in the computer's System Preferences, so I'm assuming the message refers to Photoshop Preferences.
Can I have the RAW files record onto the camera CF card and only the small jpegs go into the computer?

I have been following tutorials on creating HDR images in photoshop using the 32 bit function.

Once I have created the 32 bit image, and saved it as a Tiff file. I then go into bridge and made sure the preferences for camera raw are set to enable suppoprted TIFFs. However I cannot open this image through camera raw, it just opens up in photoshop...

In the turorials I have seen this does not seem to be a problem for others.
Bridge will not longer allow me to open photo files directly into Camera Raw, saying a "qualifying" program must be open; I have Bridge and Photoshop CS 6.5 Extended open.Â

What happens is when I use the B+W function, I get an error message saying that I have not enough ram.After that, when I open the next photo with Camera Raw, the raw image will not open.

I have already maximised the Ram that Photoshop can use to 1.7GB and there is more than enough space in my scratch disk.

Camera is a nikon D90, shots download okay but appear small in the preview and I can't make them larger or do anything with them. When I highlight a raw file, the camera raw option is not available.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a Canon 6D last summer and recently decided to shoot in RAW (.CS2). My previous camera was a Canon Rebel t1i, and RAW files from that camera worked without a hitch. When I try to open raw files from the 6D, I get a notice that I need an update.Â
So I downloaded and installed the update for Camera Raw, and also downloaded and installed the associated DNG converter.Â
After working for a few weeks, Camera Raw has stopped opening Canon 5D Mark II files. Says it is not a readable file format but I know the files are not corrupt because they will open in the Canon utility.

When opening a raw file (CR2) from the organizer to CS using Ctrl-h the image opens directly in CS without opening in Camera Raw first. If I open an image directly in CS it goes through CR first. How do I send the image directly to Camera Raw and then to CS from the organizer? I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Camera Raw for PSE7 if 5.6 and 7.3 for CS6.

Canon software views images. Suspect my minimum camera raw plug in version does not support this new camera..I am unable to locate in the software any menu item that allows me to view the camera raw plug in version.
Have no choices in the camera calibration tab inside camera raw plugin. Use CS3 and Raw 4.6. Are choices only available in later version or PS? Also in Raw preferences choice for camera serial number and also setting as defaults. Where to enter serial number etc.

so i tried to install the update.... installed it fine, kept getting the same message when i would try to open the photo. after researching online i found the suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop elements. i did that once, tried the update again...same results. uninstalled again. tried the update again and still getting the same message. ive checked the adobe website and everywhere i look says the version of the camera raw DOES support my camera (nikon D7100).
After an, automatic, update to camera raw 7.3 in Photoshop Elements 11 all Camera Profiles are gone. All that is left is "Matrix". I use Elements 11, windows Vista on a 64-bit machine, my camera is a Nikon D7000.

I was sold, subscribed to Adobe Cloud, downloaded Photoshop and started following his tutorial. When I got to the lens correction part, my Camera RAW has no Profiles tab.  Brown does say that you need the latest version, but I have assumed that since I just subscribed and downloaded, that I have that.

I sometimes have probs with JPEGS saved in PS, when sent to customers, they cannot open them (sometimes). I used to resave i microsoft photoeditor

way of opening images in CS2 where after opening they will appear in the middle of the CS screen rather then in the top left corner?

I can drag and maximize so they appear in the middle, but on reopening another image they default to the top left again, I would like them to always open in the middle?
