I'm having some trouble with importing SLDASM-file in Inventor 2013.
Inventor 2013 Pro tells me, that I could import PRT, SLDPRT, ASM, SLDASM-files.
But it doesn't appear in my project when I'm importing it.

I have different SLDPRT files I would like to import into AutoCAD Mechanical 2014 (it's a student version).
My colleague is able to import those files, in my case it always fails even though we are having the same files and the same version.
He has Windows 7, I have Windows 8.1.
I can't get Inventor 2013 show a custom iproperty correct.My iLogic rule is this:
iProperties.Value("Custom", "myvol")=volume = iProperties.Volume
But the custom iProperty is a Yes or No.Had no problem with this in Inventor 2011.
Why can't you show the file name on a form (without using iLogic to link it to a property)?

for file naming format i use numbering scheme rule.
in the vault browser is eazy to show the description from each part, search by description etc.
but when ia want to select from inventor, for example i want to replace component from vault or add component from vault. i can't see this description.
my question is, how to show the description in the file browser from inventor?
I am in the process of building new machine and have a pro seat that for some reason is not showing the standard IV Icons.I have already built this machine and authorized all the softwares so I do not want to go through rebuilding to fix something so small.how to make the system show the correct icons for all the IV file types.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to start Excel and show the results of some BOM items I have written to a file like item number, part number and description.The task is to find components in an assembly that have a part number longer then 39 characters, due to ERP limitations.
What I´m doing is cycling through all BOM (structured) items on first level and check if the part number is longer then 39 characters.
I write these item number, part number, description to an Excel file (temp.xlsx), so the user sees which Components he has to check for the Part Number (make it shorter). I figured it would be best to do that with an excel file, so the user can save the results to a new file or just check it.
Values will be erased from the temporary excel file afterwards.Here I can't figure out how to start the excel application and open the file in an actual application window if possible.
how to list the results with plain iLogic that would do it too or some other solution to list a snapshot from the BOM.I guess there is no way to add your custom BOMViews ?
Can I create an FBX file in Inventor 2013? If so, how would I do that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a simple angle iron (3 x 2 x 1/4 w/t x 3.00 LG.) .ipt that has 8 thru holes in it file size is 962 MB the file will not open however 3 days ago the file was normal size (160-180KB) and opened fine when i attempt to open this file it eats up about 8 gig of RAM then gives me PmBRepSegment in database then aborts the open process but Task Image Inventor.exe retains the 8+ gig of memory as if a file is open, what caused this file to grow 900 times in size when nothing was done to it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Inventor Professional 2013 (student). I can't open new file, if I try to the program crashes and closes and try to send an error report. Can't install update/patch (DL20857064_32-bit.msp or inventor2013_sp1.1_x86.msp), says program not installed/or can't gain acces to the HKey. I have admin rights, I have tried re-activating, repairing, re-installing, uninstalling and reinstalling, to the point i had to request a new activation code but it's still not working.
I have attached a file with error messages and my system, which should be ok according to the system requirements.
When I open a file in Inventor 2013 I get the error message "cannot open XML file" for 20 or more files.(See attachment) This has only been an issue since 2013 was installed. What do I need to do to correct this?

The result is some strange message in IPJ details. "Inventor Material library" strings in "Appearance libraries" and "Material libraries" are both red and tooltip says "The protein library file is not available".
Why protein? Does it have any relation to [URL] ....?
When I am in the Autodesk 2013 Task Scheduler and I click on the log file path to view the log file..... I get the log file, but it also opens the "View Downloads" window.. which I dont want.
It just started this in 2013 and it does it on every computer that I have tried it on.
Is there a way to make it not open the "View Downloads" when I view the log file?

Templates have been coverted up from 2011, keeping copies of the old templates in separate folders all under the same parent directory.Have 2013 mapped to the folder with updated templates located on a network drive. Total of 18 temolates including the standard templates.

Win 7 Pro 64bit Service Pack 1
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz
8GB Ram
NVIDIA Quadro 2000
The Issue:I start Inventor 2013 or open an .ipt/.iam ect. I now want to create a new file so I click the "New" Icon.Inventor freezes for 10-15seconds and finally shows the templates.After that if you click on any of the templates it freezes instantly. Or if you scroll the browser bar down to navigate the folder. 15-35 seconds
After selecting the correct template it freezes for about 15 seconds.For those keeping track Thats 40-65 seconds just to open a drawing...
For Inventor 2011.Click, Click, Click. Open...Takes maybe 5 seconds.
I had Inventor 2013 and it worked well for a long time, I didn't use it for a while, then yesterday I tried to use it again and it wouldn't work. It starts up fine, and gets to the menu where you can choose from recent files, new files, tutorials, etc. After I select anything to open, whether its a new or old file, the program will load open the file then immediately stop working. No error message is displayed besides Windows telling me "this program has stopped working". I updated to 2014 yesterday, and the exact same problem persists.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a school group project that requires me to submit all inventor files as "LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_PART,ASSY,DRAWING,etc..NAME". My original parts were all done in mm instead of cm, so for our project, I opened all new files and derived the same parts at a different scale to fix this scale issue between the members. For the new derived parts I temporarily allowed the file name to remain as part1, part2, part3.... and continued with the assembly. Now that my assembly is complete and I would like to change my part file names to the required format, my assembly will not show the parts and (?) symbol is shown by all parts with updated file names. I also changed the original file names and now the new derived parts, when opened, have the same (?) which I assume is related to the fact that the derived parts are dependent on the original file. Is there a way to update this information? We are using INVENTOR 2013.

There are two types of error:
1) when I pick the file I want to open, in left lower corner - thumbnail window- is displayed text:"preview not available"
2) when I pick the file I want to open, the left lower corner - thumbnail window- is black
In iProperties panel I have checked "Save preview picture"
Customer has sent me a drawing. When I view it, the dim text is not shown, but when I 2x click on the dim, it shows up in the edit window. How do I make the text show so I can print this?

I am trying to copy and paste a bar scale from one drawing into another at 0,0…. But it won’t show-up, as you can see from the attached there are 17 blocks in this drawing but none of them will show-up, I have even tried to re-insert the block but still no joy….. I have re-started AutoCAD, even the computer but still nothing…….

I have an drawing that is loaded with attributed blocks. Nothing but text. When I XREF this into another drawing, none of the text shows. Layers are on, nothing is set to invisible.
I think this drawing is from an older version of AutoCAD, would that be the problem?

View 9 Replies View RelatedDrawing created in AutoCAD LT 2005 - in AutoCAD LT 2013, several layers are not present. Tuned off all filtering, etc. Noted that some blocks will not appear in layouts even though the layer they are on is not frozen in the layout.
Not clear why layers in LT 2005 will not show in LT 2013 I attached offending file.I am self-taught and LT 2013 is a little daunting for me.
Forgot to mention that layer AX-COL-SYMB-2 does not show up in LT 2013. Also, block for column line symbols (circle/column numbers) will not show in layouts in LT 2013, but will in LT 2005.
I am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.

After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).
My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.
I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.
What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?
