I've finally tried to migrate company's xml to adskib.
The result is some strange message in IPJ details. "Inventor Material library" strings in "Appearance libraries" and "Material libraries" are both red and tooltip says "The protein library file is not available".
Why protein? Does it have any relation to [URL] ....?
Can't seem to locate the Inventor Material Library....under Default in Projects, the Inventor Material Library is highlighted in Red. Where I need to browse to inorder to locate it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've made my own material library containing a short list of materials from the Inventor default library. And I have set my Project ipj to use it as the default library. All works OK. But, every time I make a new project ipj I have to go find my custom library adsklib file to add it to the project. Is there a certain folder the adsklib file need to live in so that new projects will pick it up automatically?

So I created an VB.NET application to get and check out all project files from my VAULT, change the different paths and check in the files in the vault. However, I need to include the new material library in each project files.
I found that we could change almost everything, but not include material library.
I have upgraded to Inventor 2014 and I'm having trouble transferring my custom content center library (local machine, no server). My understanding was that I copy the .idcl and .idz files from the old folder to the 2014 folder, open the projects dialog box, configure content center libraries button, and use the update tool button.
However, in the configure libraries dialog box my custom library doesn't even show up in the list along with my ANSI, ISO, "My Library", etc. Restarting Inventor didn't work.
First, I have not grasped the extent yet of how the new appearance library works.. we don't get crazy with colors, reflections etc.. but we do have a handful of colors that we use on the machines we use.. so instead of using the default appearance library, i made a new appearance library. All this went well, but i periodically as i need them will add colors to it.. problem is that i'm obviously doing something wrong, because my colors don't always stay in there after i restart Inventor.. and yesterday, i can't seem to keep any of the colors i setup in there to stay.. all i want to do is copy specific colors from inventors appearance library.. drag them into mine, rename them, maybe tweak the color, and then they be there for next time.. why won't they stay?
The edit pencil will come up on my library.. i've done the release edit after i'm done.. everything works in this inventor session, but if i turn inventor off and back on again.. they are gone.. only thing i have thought of remaining is that 3 users on our network share the same design styles location so we all our using same stuff, so is the file inventor uses in design styles to save to read only or something, but i read that appearances aren't saved in design styles.. How to do this and the colors stay and populate through all the existing stuff.. I have got the colors to lock into my template ipt in the doc appearances.. and i've done the save to custom library thing.. works until i restart inventor..
I have recently installed Inventor Suite 2010 on a new computer and I am receiving this error on a majority of my files.

Component W:T46DManufacturing Drawings8300673-.idw is not checked out to you. Edits are not allowed on this file.
I understand this has something to do with using Vault. However since I am the only one using Inventor and these files are not shared, I did not install Vault on the old computer or the new one.
I managed to change a setting to where my files are being saved in a library folder and I can't edit them. I don't wish to continue with this nonsense. I want to be able to edit the files. I am not using a vault but still get a message that the file I am trying to open is not signed out to me. How did I manage to mess my settings up this badly. I don't remember changing any of my settings.

I am completly new to photoshop so if there are any good tutorials of your favourite photo enhancements, please send them to me. I would like to do some black and white images with some coloured elements; any help with this would be much appreciated.
However, I am interested in using CS4 for my work. I am a scientist and I generate a lot of SDS-PAGE gels. These are acrylamide gels stained with comassie blue. Basically the proteins in a sample are separated into various bands of different sizes. The bands are stained blue, the more protein the bluer the band. I will send an example if anyone is interested. I was wondering if I could use photoshop to quantify the bands so I can say 'this band contains x grams of protein' as the samples are run with known standards.
All of a sudden I get this message when I try to change the materials of any part within my workspace folder. I looked at the project and everything looks fine. I can save the file but cannot change or add anything now.

I'm having some problems giving certain parts in my assembly a unique file name. Im reorganizing all of my projects in a
- content center
- designs
- libraries
way, where my projects are under designs and commonly used parts under libraries.
Now i have something like a pump. I can derrive this assembly into a solid and put it in the content center, or keep the assembly and put it in the libaries folder. since this is a part i use in multiple projects.
Now my problem is that this pump has a different name in every project, and a library part doesn't allow me to change this name. Say standard name is "centrifugal pump" while the name in project 1 would be P101, while in project 2 it has to be named P501 and so on in order to match with the flowcharts.
Is my only option here creating a solid out of these components and putting it all in my content center ( leaving my libraries folder totally empty ), adding it as a custom part afterwards ( so i can rename it ). I rather have it in my library folder, since this will keep my design folder organized without hundreds of duplicates of this pump, using different names. Besides i rather have it as an assembly so i can assign the connecting tubes of the pump to different sub assemblies of piping.
Different example, a butterfly valve excists out of 3 parts. the valve itself, and 2 connecting tubes. possible to dissemble. all 3 parts need to have the same file naming say XV900. 1 side of the valve needs to be assigned to pipe-01 while the other side of the valve needs to be assigned to pipe-02. Content center doesn't allow me to split files, but allows me to use unique file names. A library party allows me to split files ( if not read only ) but doesn't allow me to change names.
Inventor creates a names to custom library parts based on settings and available parameters.
For all custom libraries I can create file names as I want except profile libraries.
The profile library create file name using Family Name + Stock Number and I did not find the
way to change it. I cannot get rid of that Stock Number in family name in this and other profile libraries. I wish I can use Part Number instead of Stock number in naming as more informative.
To change the file naming I do the following:
Manage - Editor - chose Library - chose family - Family Table - File Naming -
than chose required parameters to be shown as file name (for instance I have
{PARTNUMBER}), than in Map to Inventor Property: - Member.Display.Name
than OK - Refresh - Done.
All custom libraries obeys the file name changing EXCEPT the profile library.

We recently purged our part templates of unused materials and appearances because there were duplicates after our merge between our original 2012 library and 2013 library. We deleted these duplicates but retained all materials that inventor uses by default, such as the "default" material.
Creating new files causes no problems, however when opening a .STEP file Inventor immedietly crashes and exits to the desktop. We tried re-assigning the default templates that came with our install of 2013 and we can open STEP files just fine.
We tried uninstalling the latest update (Update 2 for SP1.1) but that did not change the problem.
We are using confirmed STEP files that have opened fine in the past and new STEP files that are freshly downloaded. NOTE: the same crash occurs with .SAT and .IGES files as well, however we primarliy use STEP files.
This is occuring on two seperate machines, both running Windows 7 64-Bit with i7 processors and 16 Gigabites of RAM.
We are currently moving from 2009 to 2013 and have a variety of drop down menus and palettes. I want to promote the use of the ribbon menus and new set up.
What is the best way to set up the block libraries? Could I just use the Design Center references block drawings?
Is it easy to convert existing palettes / menus to the new format?
Can I create an FBX file in Inventor 2013? If so, how would I do that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a simple angle iron (3 x 2 x 1/4 w/t x 3.00 LG.) .ipt that has 8 thru holes in it file size is 962 MB the file will not open however 3 days ago the file was normal size (160-180KB) and opened fine when i attempt to open this file it eats up about 8 gig of RAM then gives me PmBRepSegment in database then aborts the open process but Task Image Inventor.exe retains the 8+ gig of memory as if a file is open, what caused this file to grow 900 times in size when nothing was done to it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Inventor Professional 2013 (student). I can't open new file, if I try to the program crashes and closes and try to send an error report. Can't install update/patch (DL20857064_32-bit.msp or inventor2013_sp1.1_x86.msp), says program not installed/or can't gain acces to the HKey. I have admin rights, I have tried re-activating, repairing, re-installing, uninstalling and reinstalling, to the point i had to request a new activation code but it's still not working.
I have attached a file with error messages and my system, which should be ok according to the system requirements.
I have autocad 2013 and I used to have the material library downloaded and working fine. I recently installed revit 2014 and deleted all 2013 material library and downloaded the 2014 that came with Revit.
However, now autocad gives me an error saying the material library is not installed. Is there anyway to remap it so that it reads the 2014 library? I would rather not download the 2013 library if I don't have to, I use windows on a mac and my bootcamp partition is very tiny.
When a make a copy of a material library item (siding) and use the materials editor to change the color the materials do not change from the original color. What can I do to update 5the colors?

When I am in the Autodesk 2013 Task Scheduler and I click on the log file path to view the log file..... I get the log file, but it also opens the "View Downloads" window.. which I dont want.
It just started this in 2013 and it does it on every computer that I have tried it on.
Is there a way to make it not open the "View Downloads" when I view the log file?

Templates have been coverted up from 2011, keeping copies of the old templates in separate folders all under the same parent directory.Have 2013 mapped to the folder with updated templates located on a network drive. Total of 18 temolates including the standard templates.

The Issue:I start Inventor 2013 or open an .ipt/.iam ect. I now want to create a new file so I click the "New" Icon.Inventor freezes for 10-15seconds and finally shows the templates.After that if you click on any of the templates it freezes instantly. Or if you scroll the browser bar down to navigate the folder. 15-35 seconds
After selecting the correct template it freezes for about 15 seconds.For those keeping track Thats 40-65 seconds just to open a drawing...
For Inventor 2011.Click, Click, Click. Open...Takes maybe 5 seconds.
