We are currently moving from 2009 to 2013 and have a variety of drop down menus and palettes. I want to promote the use of the ribbon menus and new set up.
What is the best way to set up the block libraries? Could I just use the Design Center references block drawings?
Is it easy to convert existing palettes / menus to the new format?
I received a file that has a large number of blocks with unnamed blocks inside. I need them all to be by layer, and i really don't want to explode it.
How can I can do it?
How can i add Blocks Library to Acad2012 like in the older versions and see them by clicking any button as icons menue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to publish our Library of blocks to a DWF file to import into DWF reviewer for a symbol library. I have done it fine in the past, but for whatever reason my Publish Options keeps reverting to the default to no include block information which we need to import the symbols properly.
I have tried the pdf and dwfx publish as well and the same thing is occuring. I have also looked at the plotter file and don't see anything that is causing this.
i use autocad 2011. I need to create some lighting bloks and put them in some library to use in some porject and also export it to other pc as well. How can I create library?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
I have autocad 2013 and I used to have the material library downloaded and working fine. I recently installed revit 2014 and deleted all 2013 material library and downloaded the 2014 that came with Revit.
However, now autocad gives me an error saying the material library is not installed. Is there anyway to remap it so that it reads the 2014 library? I would rather not download the 2013 library if I don't have to, I use windows on a mac and my bootcamp partition is very tiny.
When a make a copy of a material library item (siding) and use the materials editor to change the color the materials do not change from the original color. What can I do to update 5the colors?

The result is some strange message in IPJ details. "Inventor Material library" strings in "Appearance libraries" and "Material libraries" are both red and tooltip says "The protein library file is not available".
Why protein? Does it have any relation to [URL] ....?
I've made my own material library containing a short list of materials from the Inventor default library. And I have set my Project ipj to use it as the default library. All works OK. But, every time I make a new project ipj I have to go find my custom library adsklib file to add it to the project. Is there a certain folder the adsklib file need to live in so that new projects will pick it up automatically?

So I created an VB.NET application to get and check out all project files from my VAULT, change the different paths and check in the files in the vault. However, I need to include the new material library in each project files.
I found that we could change almost everything, but not include material library.

My install fails at the AML 2013 - Low Rez and I can't install Map at all.
I don't think there is an option to no install the Material Library...

I have upgraded to Inventor 2014 and I'm having trouble transferring my custom content center library (local machine, no server). My understanding was that I copy the .idcl and .idz files from the old folder to the 2014 folder, open the projects dialog box, configure content center libraries button, and use the update tool button.
However, in the configure libraries dialog box my custom library doesn't even show up in the list along with my ANSI, ISO, "My Library", etc. Restarting Inventor didn't work.
First, I have not grasped the extent yet of how the new appearance library works.. we don't get crazy with colors, reflections etc.. but we do have a handful of colors that we use on the machines we use.. so instead of using the default appearance library, i made a new appearance library. All this went well, but i periodically as i need them will add colors to it.. problem is that i'm obviously doing something wrong, because my colors don't always stay in there after i restart Inventor.. and yesterday, i can't seem to keep any of the colors i setup in there to stay.. all i want to do is copy specific colors from inventors appearance library.. drag them into mine, rename them, maybe tweak the color, and then they be there for next time.. why won't they stay?
The edit pencil will come up on my library.. i've done the release edit after i'm done.. everything works in this inventor session, but if i turn inventor off and back on again.. they are gone.. only thing i have thought of remaining is that 3 users on our network share the same design styles location so we all our using same stuff, so is the file inventor uses in design styles to save to read only or something, but i read that appearances aren't saved in design styles.. How to do this and the colors stay and populate through all the existing stuff.. I have got the colors to lock into my template ipt in the doc appearances.. and i've done the save to custom library thing.. works until i restart inventor..
I got this big file of a map, and, when I paste the different pieces of the map, some of them are invisible. I already erased all the scale stil but it doesn't work. The files are there but i can't see them, i think there's something wrong with the blocks.

I am inserting some mechanical changes into my master drawing (updating my as built drawing). I copy with base point the hvac changes, I paste into the master drawing and all is cool; the block looks fine. When I explode the block, the text and some hvac blocks (like elbows with attribute) are way out off scale, like way bigger than they should be.I don't get it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am confused how the blocks work in AutoCAD 2013. I previously had 2004 and had an add on called ARCH T. This add on had an entire library of blocks. Although, the new version of Arch T that I would need to buy is $1000... so I'm trying to avoid that. I know you can insert blocks from within AutoCAD. But the process confuses me. In the design center, it seems like I just need to go to a drawing file and it pulls up blocks that are already within that file. But its not necessarily all of them. Is there a way to get all the blocks in one file to pull from? How does this work??
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I type in the command "SC" for scaling the object, it'll asks me to specify base point then I can enter what scale I want it to be, such as 2 times or 0.5 for half sacle.
with the new 2013 version, sometimes it'll exit the command if I select the insertion point of the block or if the object is at the 0,0,0 location of the drawing. it'll also give a message of "the scaling factor is too small". But I haven't enter what scale I want to scale the object yet.
When exporting from AutoCad to pdf, from paper space, my blocks come out looking strange. I was having the same problem with text but fixed that by converting to Arial. I am exporting to an Arch E size. I have found that when I am zoomed out to show my entire campus, this is when I my problem occurs. When I am zoomed in to show a specific area, export is fine.
Using AutoCad 2014. Files saved back to version 2010.
I have opened an exported .dwg file from Vectorworks. I have been able to hide most items I wish to. My difficulty is that I have (what I think from reading and Youtube) is dynamic blocks (light instruments). They are on a layer that is turned off, yet they are still visible. I've played around in the block editor, but I really don't know what I'm doing. If need be I can delete the light instruments, but I'd rather not. If there is a command to hide all blocks? I tried to use the properties editor to change the color to white so they would disappear. That didn't work.
