I am trying to copy and paste a bar scale from one drawing into another at 0,0…. But it won’t show-up, as you can see from the attached there are 17 blocks in this drawing but none of them will show-up, I have even tried to re-insert the block but still no joy….. I have re-started AutoCAD, even the computer but still nothing…….
View 3 RepliesWhile creating a drawing inserting 3d blocks after closing and reopening the file blocks have disappeared from veiw. When i mouse over the block it shows but goes as soon as i move the mouse. also when zooming different blocks show and disappear?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.

After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).
My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.
I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.
What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do I manipulate a height parameter all of the dynamic blocks in the drawing from one single field? Say a field located in the drawing properties or on the drawing itself.
For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.
I received a file that has a large number of blocks with unnamed blocks inside. I need them all to be by layer, and i really don't want to explode it.
How can I can do it?
The layer is on and the ground levels on the architectural drawing in model view show the number and the box surrounding them however in the drawing window be it in the numbers have dissapeared and we are left with only the boxes ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am editing an existing block to change the lineweight and have tried using the REFEDIT command as well as double clicking the block to take me into the block editor and making my changes there. I am sucessfully able to edit my block and make the changes using both of these methods. Where I am running into an issue is that the block I have edited only retains its new settings within the drawing that I changed it in. If I insert that same block into a new drawing I have to re-edit the block again the make the changes that I want. Why are my blocks not retaining their settings from drawing to drawing.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I insert a block that is made up of different layer lines and shapes then they only show up in the model tab. The other layouts I have won't show the blocks even though the same layers are turned on and unfrozen in these other layout viewports just like the model space. It's looking like trying to use multilayer dynamic blocks will be pretty useless unless they work in every layout viewport and not just in model space.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
Our Surveyor created the Point Styles and description keys for processing our field work. These were incorporated in our template. Yesterday he brought in field work an noticed that only a few of the symbols incorporated into the markers came in.
The blocks exist in the drawing but when you go to edit the point marker only 8 out of 152 blocks show in the window below "Use AutoCAD BLOCK symbol for marker". I tried a backup of that template from 5 months ago and got the same results. I've verified that the blocks still exist in the drawing both by listing them and exploring them in Design Center. If I try other templates the window shows all the blocks.
I have tried Audit and Recover with no improvement. Thirteen errors fixed but the blocks still don't show. Additionally I found a backup of the template from Feb., 2013 and get the same problem but the lack of blocks only just occurred.

I have a block of a guide sign with directions and azimuth angles. I made arrows rotatable and angles were changing ok. But when I try to rotate an arrow into zero position, dimension shows 180. I need the dimension to show 0 degree. How can I do it?
And I can’t make angular dimension show degrees greater than 180 even if I specify vertex – after rotation angle shifts on the other side. I gave up and used back azimuth.
And I can't make an attachment: "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type"?

Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.

I recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs many of us seam to do the option to save by default to an older version of AutoCAD or universal DXF format is selected, my problem is however when you save an existing drawing a prompt appears asking if 'Drawing*.dxf last saved in AutoCAD 2004 format. Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.

I have a question. I have several 3d models i've set up with 3d blocks in each one. They're separate to cut down on drawing size. I want to create a database of blocks so to speak by copying all the blocks into one drawing. I tried going through Design Center to copy the blocks in, but it won't let me just copy them. Is there a simple way to do this?

Is it possible that my employer has somehow blocked the use of dynamic blocks in drawings?
