I'm trying to find the quantities of blocks on drawing. I used "quick select" command - select by Block Reference. My blocks have some customer’s attributes (for example type of block) which I couldn't find on block reference list.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do I manipulate a height parameter all of the dynamic blocks in the drawing from one single field? Say a field located in the drawing properties or on the drawing itself.
For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.
I received a file that has a large number of blocks with unnamed blocks inside. I need them all to be by layer, and i really don't want to explode it.
How can I can do it?
I am editing an existing block to change the lineweight and have tried using the REFEDIT command as well as double clicking the block to take me into the block editor and making my changes there. I am sucessfully able to edit my block and make the changes using both of these methods. Where I am running into an issue is that the block I have edited only retains its new settings within the drawing that I changed it in. If I insert that same block into a new drawing I have to re-edit the block again the make the changes that I want. Why are my blocks not retaining their settings from drawing to drawing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
I having real difficulty finding a lisp that will find and replace blocks. There are plenty out there and AutoCAD 2013 and lower has a Find and Replace Blocks. However, the frustrating catch is I can seem to find a routine that will allow me to replace only those blocks that I select with a selection set of my choosing. The built in function replaces all of them and will not let you exclude some. We have PID drawings that we want to replace valves on, but not all valves. We don't want to rename. We don't need to BEDIT the existing block.
1) Pick group of blocks
2) specify a new block that will replace all instances of old block
3) replace inserted block with different block. Leaving others alone.
I'm thinking this should be easy, but my search has failed. The blocks in question are not dynamic or attributed either.
I am using windows 7 on my macbook pro. I am using autoCAD 2010. I can create and save files, however I can't open them. When trying to open a file, a message pops up saying "Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the network drive is available and the file exists."

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are currently working on a very large master development plan submittal here at work. As part of the MDP, we are expected to deliver quantities calculations to the client.
I don't particularly feel like going through our entire proposed subdivision and counting up water fittings and whatnot. I am working on a dynamic block (attached in 2012 file format) that has visibility states for all of the different water fittings that we will be using for this project.
Is it possible to use either a lookup parameter or a block properties table to produce a quantities count, so to speak? I.e., to somehow get a count of all of the instances of this block in a particular drawing and how many instances are in what visibility state? So this table would tell you 1/32 bend: 15, 1/4 bend: 35, etc.
Recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2013 and drawings opened up fine. Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to write a VBA macro (for Inventor 2010) that would have to work on drawing .idw files that are generated from a given component.So when I have an open assembly document, I want to go through all component occurences and work with the associated drawing.
There's a built in command in Inventor for that, in the context menu, something like "Open drawing" (mine is german, so not sure how it's called in english), which does this. It opens the drawing of the given part. From this I assumed, there must be a reference within each part, that points to the referencing drawing.
But I'm not able to find this information anywhere within the properties/objects of any component.how or where can I get this information out of the components?
When I try and open a file from the network that another user already has open, I receive the following message:
"Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the network drive is available and the file exists".

how to identify the model associated with a particular PL on a drawing. I'm able to find a PL and write to the header which is cool. But I'm trying to determine the model associated with the BOM pipline so I can get it's P/N iproperty and write that to the PL header.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I start my 'puter up for the first time for the day and I double click a drawing file to open it, without first starting ACAD from the ACAD.exe, it begins to open the file but then says it cannot find it, but it still starts ACAD and opens Drawing 1.
This may be linked to another problem I need an answer to.
I had 2011 C3D installed, uninstalled it, then installed 2012 C3D. Stand alone license.
Now the icons for all dwg files, the one that should show that ACAD is the application that opens it, does not show in windows explorer. See the attachment.
I have done the "file open with ... Always use the selected..." thing with no result. I have also used the repair function on the install disk with no result.
I am cleaning up our company standart blocks and there is a font I want purged/deleted, but I keep getting the message that the font is in use.
I have checked the dimension styles, the multileader styles and cannot find it.
Is there a way to find out where it is being used?

Everything was working fine until...I deleted a hatched area that represented a Butt Joint quantitiy. Now when I go into Compute Quatity Takeoff & select the Compute button, this quantity that was deleted is still there. And, since it is now deleted, I can't find a way to remove it from the Butt Joint quantity. I've tried using "Removes pay item from specific objects." I've tried deleting all my quantities and starting from scratch.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a purchase component set that includes 2 identical pcs. i.e. part number xxx01(.iam) consists of part01(.ipt) and part01(.ipt). Typically I would place xxx01(.iam) into an upper level assembly, and get a BOM count of xxx01 QTY = 1. This works fine.
Now I have a similar component xxx02(.iam) that includes part02(.ipt) and part02(.ipt). With this component I use only half of the purchase component set in many instances. Therefore I would like to have the ability to place part02(.ipt) as a single part and have a BOM count of xxx02 QTY = 0.5.
The best solutions I have found is either to place xxx02(.iam) and manually override the BOM count to 0.5, which is error prone, and inevitably causes an issue each time.
Or I can set the Part Number of part02(.ipt) to be xxx02, and create a User Parameter in part02(.ipt) called BOM_QTY and set it to 0.5 ul and then set the Unit Quantity (using the BOM tab of the part file's Documents Settings) to use the User Parameter. The result of this is a BOM count of xxx02 QTY = 0.5ul.This method displays ul in the Parts List, which of course is an issue as well.
