The text set in the Section Annotation Block Symbols move when the block is copied from one drawing file to another. Regardless if in the block editor, the position of the test remains the same.
View 6 RepliesI am experimenting with Annotation, trying to create annotative blocks with dynamic properties. I am having trouble with including attributes in the blocks. Basically the problem is when I modify the dynamic parameters of the block and change the scale (and annotative scale) of the viewport then the attribute gets moved out of position - the size of the text scales properly with the annotative scale, but the text position gets moved considerably out of the proper position.
Attached is an example of the problem - an annotative dynamic block of a grid bubble. There is a basepoint parameter set along the circle and a rotation parameter justified to the center of the circle. The rotation parameter is suppose to rotate the basepoint so then the block can be scaled out from the basepoint regardless of its location along the bubble.
So a file sent to us was created in AutoCAD Map 2007 and we run AutoCAD MEP 2012 (and some on 2011). A Device ID Block was inserted in the Map program at 1:40 Annotative scale and was fine in their software, but when we load the files the attributes are enlarged to 40x their intended size. There are over 1,000 of these block in the plans and I've run out of solutions. I tried overwriting the block and it failed, and I also tried copying the oversized blocks into a file with the block predefined and that failed as well. At this point I am convinced I need to find or write a lisp for the repeated actions. I am crunching on the process for writing the lisp as I have written macros and VBA Functions for excel and understand the basic principles.

Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.
I'm sure I could copy them from 2012, but still.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do I manipulate a height parameter all of the dynamic blocks in the drawing from one single field? Say a field located in the drawing properties or on the drawing itself.
For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.
I am trying to XREF my C3D Design file that has my profiles and sections in it into a drawing with a title block and viewport. Everything is fine in Model Space...but when I create the viewport in Paper Space none of the annotative text of the profile/section shows up...or is microscopic.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using inventor 2013 and creating the drawing for a part or assy. and saving it to autocad 2000. after i open the saven .dwg fine in autocad 2000 of customised .dwg viewer (EDMS internal customised vault kind of software), i see some of the features of annotations and even mechanical features added has question mark (as the images attached).
Thing is what i am doing is and we have a BOB.shx file for the font. (which inventor is not supporting) and we could not bring this inside inventor. Inventor supports only .ttf font types.
So how way possible we can use inventor drawing inside autocad 2000 by save a copy as option. or you have any patch type support.We are loosing lot of time in this as a productivity loss.
I have determined that an AutoCAD drawing has the unfortunate ability to have Annotation Scales "hard coded", meaning they CANNOT be removed from the drawing.
Let me explain....
In a detail drawing file (i.e. my master drawing file where I keep all of our standard details), I was getting duplicate Annotation Scales. I would try to use the SCALELISTEDIT command to try and delete the anno scales not being used, but it would appear they WERE being used. (and resetting the anno scales didn't work either)
I was using a combination of tricks to determine WHICH annotation objects were using the duplicate anno scales. I would set ANNOALLVISIBLE to 0 and set the CANNOSCALE to the duplicate anno style to see where they were being used with no luck
I would then use the QSELECT command to group select each type of annotation object that were annotative, and check to see if they were using the duplicate scales. Again, no luck
THEN, I decided to cut-n-paste each detail one-at-a-time from my master drawing file to a new BLANK drawing with only one annotation scale in it (i.e. 1:1). I would paste a detail, and then enter the SCALELISTEDIT command to see which anno scales "came along for the ride". I pasted a particular detail that carried over the duplicate anno scales, but when I checked all of the annotation objects for the duplicate anno scales - NOTHING! I then deleted that particular detail, purged it, and then I was able to delete the duplicate anno scales. But no matter what I did to try and fix that detail (i.e. wblock, cut-n-paste, save-down, etc) the duplicate anno scales simply will NOT be allowed to be deleted even though i cannot find any objects associated with them.
Using Civil 3D 2012, is there a way to import/export a list of metric annotation scales for use in another drawing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI found a strange behavior of AutoCAD. When I was modifying a drawing and adding dimension annotation, there suddenly come some small circles as highlighted in yellow in the screenshot.

First, there is no way I can't select them.
Second, zooming doesn’t change their size.
What these small circles are? How to get rid of them?
I am editing an existing block to change the lineweight and have tried using the REFEDIT command as well as double clicking the block to take me into the block editor and making my changes there. I am sucessfully able to edit my block and make the changes using both of these methods. Where I am running into an issue is that the block I have edited only retains its new settings within the drawing that I changed it in. If I insert that same block into a new drawing I have to re-edit the block again the make the changes that I want. Why are my blocks not retaining their settings from drawing to drawing.

I want to create a database of blocks so to speak by copying all the blocks into one drawing. I tried going through Design Center to copy the blocks in, but it won't let me just copy them. But there is one exception. When the length of the current value is equal to 8 then the macro's has to do nothing and the macro must continue to the next block.
i basically need to extract all the blocks and quantities used in a drawing as the drawing we make are usually really big and takes time to pan around to count all blocks.

My questions concerns, metric vs imperial A vs B vs C etc etc drawing sheet size title block does not scale down accordingly when change sheet size within an existing drawing template.
Is it possible to have one drawing template that can be toggle imperial vs metric, and then sheet size selected and then the title block scaled down or up accordingly? (I would assume this could be done using iLogic)
Or is it normal to have different drawing templates for sizes and units?
