AutoCAD Inventor :: Isometric View When Exiting Sketch Mode
Aug 29, 2011Sometimes when I'm exiting from a sketch, the entire model goes back to isometric view. Is there a way to STOP this from happening?

View 9 RepliesI wanted to create an isometric text in isometric view to indicate different names in different part.
Attached is the picture for reference.I did it using dimension, check the "hide dimension" option. But i can't hide the extension line.
how to create an isometric text?
I started with a Left side view of a part and created a sectioned view right down the middle so you can see the insides from another view. the part is pretty big so i used a Break to shorten it to fit the page. I also placed a smaller and separate isometric view of the same part and want this view to inherit the same break. How can I do this? If I go into the display options of the iso view, all the cut inheritance options are grayed out and can't be clicked. I've seen this done before, but i'm sure i missed a step somewhere.

Sometimes when I try to create a detail view of an isometric view in my IDW, the "detail full boundary" option is greyed out? Why would this be? If I try an ortho view it works fine.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a long shaft with parts mounted on. i want to section it and show the parts. i don't need to show the whole length of the shaft.
I know i can crop the isometric view, but this way i will not see the key hole which is on the other side, it's hidden.
If i make a section it 's in an orthogonal view only.
I want to make the section view, but later to transform the sectioned view to an isometry. is it possible?
Is there a way to turn off automatic isometric view when returning to the model from a sketch view (in 2012)?

Trying to dimension a shaft in isometric view with various diameters. I am unable to find or select the centerpoints at the ends of the shaft. This causes dimensions to be crooked. How can i get the centerpoints to display so that they may be selected?
View 9 Replies View RelatedLikely a simple question; I have completed a part and because I am new, drew it a certain way to make my life easier. Now that the part is complete I would like to rotate the entire part (but not create a new solid) by 45 deg.

Otherwise if Inventor crashes (which it often does) while you're busy sketching away you loose your work.

In 5.3 I can create reference dimensions in sketch mode to my hearts content. They became very valuable as I would use them to determine placement of multiple features. Now, in IV 7, I have alot of trouble creating reference dimensions from adjacent features on the same surface. I have to change the way I'm working now and it has stumped me on a few occasions. is there a "new" feature I need to enable or is this the cost of progress?

I was giving a hand drawn wiring diagram (original.jpg) and it is a rats nest!!
I was asked to re-draw this and put it on our drawing template.
I have the plugs and terminal blocks drawn up and now I am about to attempt to add in the wires, but the sketch is so filled with dimension lines and values, it is going to be a task to try and make sure every line I draw is correct. This would be much easier to do if the dimensions could be turned off as the wires I am drawing will not be constrained.
I don't think there is layers options inside a sketch mode, or a if i start a new sketch I don't think I can project that sketch to the new one?
The only other options I can think of was to delete all dimensions and apply FIX constraint to everything! or
I guess I could have modeled the plugs and blocks in position and added them to the drawing, projected the geometry to a new sketch and added in my wires??
There must be someway to toggle the dimensions??

I use 3D sketching frequently as a means to generate frames with the frame generator.
I notice that the constrain group no longer contains an equal length tool, as in a simple 2D sketch. This is where i would generally select two lines, and constrain them to be equal in length.
Is there a reason for this omission? Should I be worried that my menus are not showing the full options for constraints?
trying to mask a certain area of a face with another picture, so I use the quick mask tool to paint in the area, but when I exit it and enter standard mode, there is nothing selected. It does however act as if there is a selection, because the other layer only is added to that section.
Also, I don't know if this is related to the other problem, but when I move another image into the original one to create two layers, then select the overlay blending option, I am happy with how it looks. However, after adding the layer mask, the other layer is really pale around the masked area.
