I'd like to have something like field text in a titleblock definition, where instead of the user manually typing the entry, they would have to choose option A or B for example.

I tried to install Microsoft Hotfix KB918118 as I did before, but I coulden't. System massege show my system is newer than that, so I do not need it. Then I installed Hotfix for text problem caused by Microsoft Hotfix KB918118. I can edit M Text now, but still I could not edit Field Text.
I would like to make a split balloon where the top retrieves the item number and the bottom is a prompted text area. Is this possible?
If the above is not possible my fallback plan would like to make a sketched symbol function in exactly the same way. I believe this option would be significantly more code. If I have to go this route, is there a way to directly mimic getting the item number like the balloon function does?
--My current process involves attaching a user symbol, getting the proper leader node, attached entity, geometry, model geometry, containing occurrence, and then BOM of the component occurrence. Keep in mind this doesn't work for phantom or reference components.

change copyright year in field text (through edit definition) in title block.
Our titleblocks have a copyright year statement that needs updating everytime a new year comes around.
Currently we select the titleblock, edit definition, edit text, and make the change. Currently reads "2012 (company B) CORPORATION"
I got this weird issue when placing my custom made titleblocks in AutoCAD. All the attributes of the block jump to standard text style when placing it in my drawing. Allthough this ain't allways happening. It seems to me like there's a setting for this but i can't find out how.
It can happen suddenly too. Like when i open a new drawing and then add my titleblock, it's like it should be most of the times. Allthough when i start to edit the block (scale/move/copy,etc) it can change like you can see in the drawing below.
Offcourse, as a company, you do not want to deliver your drawings with a titleblock like this.
I have a problem with some of our drawing sheet attributes that we are updating from a CSV file. The attributes are originally in Arial Bold but when we run the update routine the font disappears, if we run the update routine a second time it reappears correctly updated but the font has changed from Arial Black to Standard.
I have rebuilt the titleblock and get the same result.
I cant get into the routine because its locked away in an FAS file and the manager is on holidays for a couple of weeks.
I am using a symbol that includes a several text boxes. Each text box includes "prompted text" and "drawing properties". When I insert the symbol onto a drawing, the "Edit Property Fields" menu appears. In this menu, I can input my prompted field text or see the various "drawing properties".
My question is, how do I change the order that these property fields are displayed? It seems as if it depends on the order that the text boxes were created while defining the symbol definition. Is there any other way to change the display order?

But now we start using two different types of titleblocks.
I need to check which titleblock is present in the current sheet/drawing.

In an .idw environment, I have multiple models displayed.I am trying to create simple text labels for each model using text, modifying each one so that it will display the part number and the revision level by using the "Component" drop down box and assigning the proper "Type" and "Property", then using the "Add Text Parameter" button to place the fields into the text box.
This works as intended for the first model that I created a view for. However, it will not work for each successive model; the text will revert to the part number and revision level of the first model that was brought into the .idw environment, even if I change the target component in the "Component" drop-down box.
In the .jpg that I have attached, you can see that I have 035-14218 selected in the "Component" drop-down. This is the initial model that I brought into the .idw. and the resulting text is correct.

I use a single IDW template for all my drawings. In it, I've got multiple dim styles.... One is Inch, one is mm, and one shows alternate units as Inch (mm).
In my titleblock, I've got a box that says "Units: " and I've currently got this setup as a prompted entry so that I'll have to think about it when I start the drawing and manually enter "Inches" or "mm" or "Inch (mm)".
Is there a way to automate this so I don't have to manually enter it, or remember to change it if the units change down the line?

I am trying to change the titleblock definition of a drawing when I run my custom ilogic code. Currently (and for the past few years) the drawing name is defined by the drawing properties part number but when I run my code I would like the drawing name to be defined by the model properties part number as shown below:

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Inventor 2010 (I know this is my first problem, but you have to use what you're given!) and I need to use the sheet number in a calculation that will display the result in a text box. =((<SHEET NUMBER>-1)8)=1 displays a result of ((11-1)8)+1. I suspect that the sheet number is being brought in as text instead of a number. I tried adding atoi to the equation to convert the sheet number to an integer, but it did not work.Is there an alternate source for the sheet number that will return a number? Is my syntax wrong?

I like to convert the fields to text when I need to send the file to someone, so that they can't inadvertently change the values. For now, I use the right click menu in the text editor for convert field to text, but I'd like to be able to change multiples at once. CAD 2008.

Some of our drawing titles are several lines, and instead of wrapping inside the field box in our titleblock, the text just spreads out all over. I'd rather not go back to the old method of having a custom property for Line 1, Line 2 etc....

Lets say i give command L. It nicely shows up in command field, i press enter, now i have command LINE. It asks for first point. I give 0,0,0. Problem is that suddenly that 0,0,0 shows in screen next to cursor instead of command line.
I want to give all commands and related to the command line. How can i change this back as i cannot find correct tab?
I want to insert a text into a block that contains a field. The field I want to look up the value of an attribute that is also contained in the block. Now when I have this complete and then change the block attribute the fields do not update to the new value of the attribute. An example file is attached.
Now I am open to creating the block in a different way, so any way to make this concept work? I want everything to be contained in the block.
I already tried to work around my problem by making 2 separate attributes, where the 2nd attribute contains the field that looks up the value of the 1st attribute - this did not work. Another thing I tried was after the block was made, I edit the 2nd attribute by inserting the field and this worked fine - the down side is that the field is not the default of the attribute (so the block must already be present in the drawing model space and that instance must be copied to make more).
I have encountered a problem with some of my 'Dynamic Blocks', which seem to have become corrupted & have incorporated differing attributes. The text has moved out of the field it was originally intended to be in & I can not get it to return to its correct location, using 'Block Editor'. After testing one particular block, I have discovered it has picked-up contrasting attributes:
(i) If one 'double-clicks' on the dynamic block the 'Attributes dialog box' offers one set of 'Text Options.' However,
(ii) If the Block Attribute Manager command 'Battman' is used for the same block, different 'Text Options' are shown?
These are un-editable, without losing all of the data in the drawing. Moreover, I cannot get into the depths of the drawing to synchronize it without losing all of the data? Plus, it will not allow me to redefine the block, via the design center, Blocks (Right-Hand Click & redefine). Plus, I cannot drop a fully functioning block in from another drawing & redefine?
I would like to link a series of text lines in an autocad drawing to there corresponding fields in an excel sheet, I can not use tables in autocad because of the way other software uses the text in autocad. I have attached files of the text layout in acad and of the sheet in excel. One thing that keeps me from using tables in acad is that every line of text is on a different layer, with tables you can't control the layer of table its always on the current layer.

Is there anyway to blow all the text values up at once without moving them from their positions with relation to the boundaries of the roads and buildings? I guess in a 3D program this would be equivalent to having the pivot point located in the centre of each set of numbers so you could scale them using the centre of each number as its scale point but I am stumped by how to do this in Autocad Architecture 2011..
