View 1 RepliesI am giving a drawing containing all the contour objects in a NAD 83 coordination, I need to transfer them to a project coordination system. I am given with the origins of both system. For NAD 83, it is N6360000 E467000, for the project it is N50000 E8000. I tried to do the transformation using Toolspace->Settings->Drawing Settings->Tranformation, and changed the Local Northing/Easting and Grid Northing/Easting, but does not seem to solve the problem.

My group is trying to convert a dwg from one coordinate system to another. The original drawing contains points, blocks, etc. in 1 system and we need it in a different one. We tried attaching the dwg to a new map with the new system using a layer query, but this did not appear to bring in the objects into the new system.
"Structures" is in the original system (OR83-NF), "StructuresHarn" is in the desired system (ORHP-NIF)

I am using Civil 3D and Map 3D 2010.
I have some points in a drawing set up in a coordinate system and using a specified point file format, I successfully exported them to another coordinate system for use by our surveyors. I also wanted the pipe route in my destination drawing so I created a shp file from a polyline representing the pipe route in the original drawing using Map 3D Export. When I imported the shp file into my destination drawing there appears to be a slight horizontal difference from the point locations. The shp file doesn't land directly on the points.
To try another comparison, I ran a query on the pipe route to perform a manual coordinate system transformation. The result of this is the exact same as the shp file.
My questions are, which method (exporting points vs. shp files) results in the correct coordinate transformation and why are they different? When exporting points I am not using any specific transformation settings, I am simply selecting the destination coordinate system. When exporting a shp file, Map 3D creates a prj file from the specified coordinate system in the drawing. Are there any other settings I need to adjust to get the same result with both processes? The only thing I can think of is I only have the coordinates out to 4 decimal places in my point file format, do I need to go out farther?
I have a created a TIN surface with a DEM file. Drawing coordinates are State Plane NAD 83 feet. DEM file coordinates are UTM NAD27 meters. Surface is shifted approx. 835 miles east.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe transformation settings are changing every time a drawing is reopened. The computation method is switching from "reference point" to "unity" - see attachment. This is causing the software to use a scale factor of 1 instead of the computed scale factor at the defined reference point when scaling our points from state plane to our local ground system. This completely screws up our entire survey workflow that we have been using for almost 2 years. We had no issues like this in the 2012 or 2013 versions.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf you have a dwg that is, say, done in west zone but some agencies want you to provide a table of west and east zone coordinates is there a transform function that will do this in a label?
I would still wan everything in the dwg to be in west zone but be able to display coordinate values in other zones.
i am located in Greece and the current progection is GGRS87 .
before the GGRS87 we had a system named HATT with the folowing info:
maps 1/5000 based on the Bessel ellipsoid (1841)
i have many drawings with point coordinates in the old system. is there a way to transform them in the new projection?
what else info is needed for the transformation.
I have geotif images that I've purchased from Washoe County GIS. They have world files that work great with data connect. That is, as long as I want to work at sea level. We have a Combined Factor mandated by the County for all record maps. it's a simple grid to ground factor. I can set this factor in the drawing settings and import my sea-level coordinate files just fine. The pboblem is that I can't get the Data Connect to work with the transform settings. The problem is the same with Geotif files and SHP files. I've tried using an x-reference drawing to insert the Geotif and then scale up the geotif but the imagery doesn't scale up.
Is it a program bug that keeps Data Connect from recognizing the transformation settings?
when I import PNEZD format .csv using import wizard the coordinates get transformed. all points are shifted about 20' in northing and 5 feet in easting. I have to use the import wizard w/ survey database in order to process linework codes.

I need to use the dimension created by an action-parameter as a variable in a user defined function but AutoCAD will not allow me (see attached).
How may I access the action-parameter's dimension ?
it is possible to use a user defined parameter to drive a action parameter.
I have several polar and linear stretch actions i would like to drive from one parameter.
I need to convert a model parameter to a reference parameter thru the API.
I saw this item discussed in the group before, but I cant find the thread.
I added two output parameters in my custom SA. I no longer want them in there. But I can't find a way to delete them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe neww line expressions for Grid distance are phenominal. My problem is getting them into curves. All I want to do is apply the grid scale factor to the curve length and radius, but I can't narrow down the parameter. The Drawing Scale conversion links to the annotation scale. I've also noticed people just scripting in the value, but that doesn't work when the majority of the office doesn't operate at that level.
Also, I work in grid and need to convert to ground. I noticed that the system only does ground to grid, so I'm inputting an inverted scale factor to get the results in need in my distances.
how to make the circles on my parameter locations smaller? What controls this feature?

In 2013, I had an optional part parameter for pipes called "Velocity", and it worked fine. We use a network catalog, and I was trying to use the same part catalog for 2014, but it gave me a Runtime Part Parameter Configuration Error for the Parameter Name "VEL". So I copied the "Pipes Catalog" folder from my C drive for 2014 and pasted it to the network. I then revised the AeccPartParamCfg.xml in the AeccShared Content folder with the same information as I had in the previous network catalog.
Specifically, I added the following line in the xml file
"<AeccDfParameter name="VEL" desc="Velocity" context="FlowVelocity" index="0" datatype="Float" usage="Double_General" unit="" visible="True" internal="True"/>"
and further down in the xml file under
" <AeccParamUsage>
<AeccPartDomainCfg domain="Pipe_Domain">"
I added the line "<AeccOptParam context="FlowVelocity"/>"
see the attached image 1-Old AeccPartParamCfg xml file.JPG to see images from the xml file.
I got the same error when I opened C3D 2014. I added an underscore between Flow and Velocity for context, and it worked! (See attachment 2-Revised AeccPartParamCfg xml file.JPG)
So C3D 2014 opens without the error. I click on Part Builder and click on RCP (formerly Concrete Pipe from OOTB part catalog) under pipes. I right click on Size Parameters and click "Add..." which takes me to the New Parameter dialog box as seen in attachment 3.JPG. It shows three of the optional properties I have added: Pipe Classification, Friction Slope, and Velocity.
I add these three optional properties and edit their configurations as seen in attachment 3.JPG. I give Friction Slope and Velocity both a range of 0 to 1000 with a default of 0.
I create a new parts list and add the part family RCP. I click to add part sizes and get the final dialog box on attachment 3.JPG. Velocity doesn't show up! Pipe Classification and Friction Slope show up, but no velocity!
I have tried deleting the 'VEL" line in the xml file, copying the "FSL" line and pasting and revising it for velocity, but that didn't work. I tried switching the FSL and VEL lines in the xml file to see if FSL would disappear and VEL would appear, but that had no effect.

How to create a sub-assembly with an insertion point parameter using Sub-assembly composer.
like this one below. I found this under the following sub-assembly. All I want is , when the user inserting the sub-assembly they may need to go on both the sides attached.
Example:
So the user should be able to select from the dropdown if the insertion point is 1 or 2. Before inserting.
I hope Autodesk can have a easier way to edit the "input/output parameter" sequence. Today I found I cannot even delete a parameter. Whenever I want to delete a parameter, SAC just frozen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to have a block scaled on import baised on the elevation of the point. I already use description key sets to scale blocks in import to parameters added to the code libary, for example; "Pole 0.31" draws a circle with a diameter of .31 meters.
Is there a way where I would be able to scale a block on import based on the elevation of the object? For example, a point's elevation is 1.7m, so on import it would scale a block by 1.7 on the x/y axis. Ideally if I were to modify the datum of the points the blocks would automatically scale, but that is more of a pipe dream.
We import the data from a trimble r8 rover and convert the file to a FBK file before importing the survey data.
I got a deadline for my project, but I got a big problem:
"I cannot set the "parameter" for the End Value in Parameter Animate dialog"
For easy understand, let's see a example:
1. I got a part which has two parameters named: "A" and "MaxA"
2. I animate Favorited parameter A.
3. The End Value is MaxA_ (Everything is ok)
4. I finish Studio environment, then I change parameter MaxA_ from 200 mm to 400 mm
5. I turn back to Studio environment, the End Value now is "200 mm" (I want this will be MaxA_, so I can animate the flexible parameter).
show me how to keep the end value will be "MaxA_" after I change parameter?

I've created my subassembly and I want to control the order of parameters to have a flow similar to the actual workflow.
I am trying to publish to the CC a guide rail. The vendor of the rail gives me the option of entering the desired length of the rail. After that he gives me the option to choose between the length that I entered and a shorter and longer standard length witch can be delivered faster.
I want to do the same thing with my published part, but I cannot make a key parameter to change depending on the entered custom parameter. I want the user to make the next steps when inserting from the CC: 1- select the size of the rail; 2-select the type of the rail; 3- enter the desired length of the rail; 4- choose between the desired length and the 2 recommended lengths (I need these 3 lengths to be shown)
Is this possible?
I have Lidar files both IMG files and LAS files. I work in Civil 3D so have most Map 3D functions. We also have IDSP 2014 so I have a full version of Map 3D 2014 in there. The Lidar is in UTM - Meters. I need to create a Civil 3D Surface in State Plane - Feet.
Civil doesn't work with IMG files. I have no problem creating a Point Cloud from the LAS files using that to create a Surface. With the Zones set correctly in the drawings I can get the horizontal aspect of the data into State Plane. However the Elevations are still in Meters. If the LAS files were in ASCII. I would convert them directly, but they're not.
Is there any method in Map 3D to do a vertical transformation on either of these file types?

I'm using a transformation matrix to adjust objects scale.
Sub Scale()
[...]
''Definition of the matrix
Dim ScaleMatrix(0 To 15) As Double
ScaleMatrix(0) = X_ScaleFactor
ScaleMatrix(1) = 0
[Code] ......
If X_ScaleFactor = Y_ScaleFactor all works fine, but if X_ScaleFactor <> Y_ScaleFactor (e.g. X_ScaleFactor = 2 and Y_ScaleFactor = 4 I get the following exception: eCannotScaleNonUniformly.
It isn't possible to define different scale factors for X and Y axis? It seems a strange thing.
