Any way to scale points, and or objects in a 2 dimensional manner only? I've got a bunch of survey points imported from a csv file, and they are at a grid scale. I need to scale the data by a factor of 1.000125 in this case to get ground distances between the points for the client. I do not want the elevations to change.
In LDDT this was not an issue as I always had the points inserted at zero elevation, but they maintained the elevation data as part of the point. It seams that in Civil 3D my points automatically appear at true elevation, so when I scale a group of points, the elevations changes as well as the elevation of any lines connected to the points. Is there a way to work 2 dimensionally with 3D data?
Given a feature line/polyline(FL/PL) and a series of points directly on the FL/PL, how can you assign the elevations of the points to the vertices of the FL/PL?
Without using a surface?
I know there are different ways to do this. Would like to know multiple options so I can see which might be quickest for me.
I have points with elevations and 2D plines at elevation zero drawn between them.
I would like 3D plines instead. This is the easiest way for me to transfer them to another drawing where I will make surfaces with them. I don't want to have to transfer the points over.
I can redraw the plines as 3D plines but this is time consuming and seems unecessary.
I don't want to have to convert them to Feature Lines either. I prefer they be 3D polylines.
Is there a simple command for this? I already have a surface containing the points and lines as surface breaklines.
Is there a project objects to surface command that will make these 2D plines at elev 0 into 3D plines while assigning elevations (and vertices) only at the current vertices?
What about a simple series of commands to convert the 2D plines to 3D plines, then force the 3D pline to take on the elevations of the points at its vertices? (I think this would be my preference, but don't know any of these commands or where to find them.)
I have a surface made by a wide array of points and a line of points that i need to use that surface to assign elevations to ..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had an issue where I dropped points into my drawing for a survey and they weren't at the distance compared to recorded plat. I have checked the points mathematically, and they were dead on. A coworker suggested that I WBLOCK the points I was working with that way I don't move single points out of place. I disagreed, because the way i move points is I use the TOOLSPACE and move them as a group. So what I did was to drop the points again and now they were dead on the second time. I don't like turning points into a block due to the fact that it messes up my drawing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way for the program to automatically change profile elevations of intersecting roads.
Say for example i have two intersecting roads ROAD A and ROAD B.
On my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 i have a proposed road elevation of 9.5
On my ROAD B profile at station 0+000 (intersecting point) I have the same proposed road elevation of 9.5.
Now i change my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 to 10.3
Is there anyway to allow the program to automatically change my ROAD B profile elevations to 10.3
IF NOT--
and I have to use the Annotate > Add Labels > Profile View > .......................... labels,
Is there a way for those labels to link across the profiles such that , On my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 i put the label at the elevation of 9.5
On my ROAD B profile at station 0+000 (intersecting point) I have the same label at the elevation of 9.5
Now i change my ROAD A profile at station 0+300 to elevation of 10.3 then is there a way for it to automatically raise the ROAD B elevation label
So that I would know, without having to manually check through, that there is a discrepancy between those intersecting roads. So the real list of my query is whether I can link my alignments, profiles or annotation labels.
Is there any method in Civil 3D change the points number?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to fine adjust the selections done with the Lasso Tools but can not find out how to do it.
I imagine that I can select the create points and manipulate them. Am I dreaming?
I setup a dwg with all of my annotations sized just right for model and paper, but when I XREF them to my dwg that has all of my sheets to plot. The points look the same on my model tab, but when I go to layout the points are huge. I then made sure I had the same styles and drawing settings in both dwgs.

I am trying to find out if there is a way to change the code for the Corridor Section Points Report. See attachment.
In page 1 of the attachment you will see the names that we prefer for the different zones in our assembly as per our Standards.
On page 2 is the default names that C3D spits out as defaults (under String Cut).
We are running C3D 2012.
there are some points in my dwg that I can't move. I can rotate but not move. I noticed in the point file the ones that I can't move have a grey square in the cell with the point number and the ones I can move have an empty circle. How do I change the square to a circle?

I am new to Civil 3D upgrading from LDD2009. I am trying to edit some point descriptions brought in through a fieldbook import through my survey database. Under my survey database in Survey Points I hit EDIT POINTS and it brings up the SURVEY POINTS EDITOR. My points are listed as white observed points but when I click on the description cell it won't allow me to change anything.

How to change the number of decimal places of the elevation of points?
as the points are labeled with their elevations, I couldn’t find how the number of the decimal places of the elevation be chosen. In this case, I wanted to let the number of the decimal places to be zero.
How to set the number of the decimal places to be zero or 1, for example? how to sepcify it height (size)?
Screenshot below.
I can only change the layer color.
But I can't change the cross simbol, its drwaing scale.
Also cant view the point number,....
Maybe I cant view or set these properties when points were added using "Point Files" option.??

I want to know why I can't change coordinate of points while importing points from Points menu?
I created new file, assigned any coordinate system to the model. Opened Import points windows there, created new file format which there I assigned Coordinate zone transform to the coordinate system of the text file and imported my text file. But the coordinates of points didn't changed or transformed. When I do it by Survey in Toolspace its works good. I want to know whether I did any wrong or it is problem of software.
I use AutoCADCivil 2013 64 bit in Windows 7 64 bit!
I often create points manually. You get that dialogue box where you choose the layer and the default local coordinates, etc etc.
The local coordinates setting always defaults to Northing/Easting. (ditto the grid coordinates).
I set it to Easting/Northing as is standard around these parts and do my points, but if I close the box, when I reopen it to add more points later, it is back to Northing/Easting.
I cannot find a variable to control this behaviour.
I never need points to have north first and would like it to default to Easting/Northing at all times. Yes I'm using the Metric template.
Is there a way to change this default?
I have been capturing data for measured building surveys with a Leica total station (TS06). When I upload the data into autocad i can see the node points (+) and text in the top view. When switch to look at the points from the front view (to produce an elevation), the text and points appear as a flat line, although the insertion point of the node/text is still correct. I need to find a way of rotating the text and points so they are visible in this view. I will then flatten the points and cut them to the top view to produce a 2d elevation.
we had a toolbar with a button to perform this function. However, now i don't have the toolbar,
I have been drawing in 2d and my floor plan is in the middle and I am using construction rays to create my elevations but I cant find or know how to use a tool that will recall my rotated and zoomed views (elevations) with a use of a AutoCAD 2013 tool.

I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.
will more ram useful?
I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project that was started by leaving all the survey data inside the "All Points" group. So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey. Will this happen?
I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not? I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.
What should I do?
