my plot file names don't include the drawing name, only the layout name. it used to include the drawing name. i must have changed something but i don't what.

In autocad 2011 ... I am looking for some sample code to delete all blocks with specific names in a multi layout drawing. There may be multiple blocks with the same name.
This is what I have so far ... this code collects the objects and loops through the layouts and the blocks ... if it finds the text "REVBLK" in the block name ... I want it to delete the block ... it does delete some of them but not all of the blocks ...

Using someone elses template. When I plot to PDF the layout sheet name is not the PDF plot file name, it uses the drawing file name (and hence the same file name for all plots, not what I want). When I plot in paper space, my layout sheet name is the output file name, is there a way to change this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to standardize the company I just started with and I believe the Named Plot Styles are definitely the way to go, rather than Color Dependent.
Now, the question I have is when I created my Named Plot Styles, I created multiple styles with different lineweights. I plan on creating a base template with layers and have the lineweight based on the plot style. Is the correct way to handle it? Because we work for a certain large state DOT and they do things slightly different. They have only 2 named plot styles (existing, proposed) and change the lineweight directly in layer rather than the lineweight being dependent on the plot style. Now truthfully, there is no difference that I can see in the plot styles they created except for the description.
I've got a very long narrow site where more of it would be better shown and printed on a vertical page. However all the default and custom viewports are designed specifically for horizontal pages. How can a page be rotated to be plotted vertically?

In LDD you would import the FBK, then when imported, after defining loop you could check adjust loop to your specs. If it looked ok, you coould adjust loop, then when complete the command line asked if you wanted to adjust sideshots. You could select Yes or No and they would (or would not) be adjusted also. In Civil 3D 2013, I have imported the same FBK. When imported I have defined the traverse. I can then adjust the traverse to my specs, but it will not include the sideshots. The sideshots do not list in the Networks Non-Control Points list, so I am thinking this is my problem.
I have also edited the FBK to remove the traverse legs and just run as sideshots from the already adjusted loop values, but it still does not appear to work.

I accidentally included a file rename when I just imported a batch of several hundred pictures. I violated a rule that I teach my own Lightroom students, and that is to look carefully at the import panel choices before proceeding.
How can I correct this so that the files are named as they originally were? I know how to easily fix the filenames in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I'd have to "find" each image one-by-one and correctly point to the renamed version. I tried selecting all the images and then using F2 to rename, but none of the templates allow deleting a portion of the filename.
P.S. Here is an example of what I mean:
ON CARD:
IMG_0001.NEF
...
IMG_0300.NEF
WHAT I RENAMED TO ACCIDENTALLY:
IMG_0001 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
...
IMG_0300 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
I need to export 3dpolylines from C3D 2013 to an ERSI SHP file.
Using the mapexport command I’m able to do this, however, the lines in the shp file don’t retain the layer name and colours that are in the C3D file.
Do I need assign ‘object data’ (or something similar) to the 3D polylines before exporting the shp file.
I have a data shortcut file where i keep my EG surface that now has File Name.dwg [DS] [DS] [DS] [DS]. What's the deal? Has this managed to morph itself into something it's not. It used to have only one, had two for awhile, and now 4 references to the DS (Datashort cut project folder).
Have I done something wrong here to get these wonky file names, would be nice to see just 1 reference being made to my DS Project folder.
I've set up an 8.5 x11paper space layout in one file and would now like to transfer it into another drawing file.
What is the best way of doing this?
I am trying to plot a drawing and am using a .ctb file that is not a color .ctb file. When I go to plot the plot wants to plot in color. Is there a setting in Options or somewhere that would be causing this?

This is the second time I’m highlighting this issue. I couldn’t figure out how to print a drawing (attached) from the lay out. What I got is a very crowded drawing as shown in the screenshots below.
I wanted to print my drawings (contour, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, etc.) in an A4 with a scale of 1/1000 or 1/1300. Then what should be:
The annotation scale?
The viewport scale?
The plot scale?

When I create drawings, I generally have quite a few layout tabs. Also, thse tabs are numbered 1 through to N. On many occasions, a revision or addition may be necessary and it may have to be inserted in between two existing tabs. Doing so is not a problem, however, keeping the numbering sequence in order without having to rename every tab in that file is a problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI received a drawing today that doesn't allow me to choose existing ".ctb" files. Opening the "Plot style table (pen assignments)" from the Page Setup dialogue box. I can choose "Start from scratch" , use a "CFG" file, or "Use a PCP or PC2" file". I do not have any CFG files. I usually use PCP in my "Plot" dialogue box for the plotter pull-down menu.
How to use my plot style "BRhalf.ctb" when plotting this drawing. Also, a "heads-up" on background information on this drawing's plot style options, vs. the plot style options on many other drawings I have plotted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I manually add a new layout from a template, I do NOT get any extra layers, but when I use VB to do the same thing, I get extra layers.
In the original drawing, I have layers called "SHEET", "TEXT", and "VIEWPORT" (among other layers).
In the template where I get my new layout, I also have the same layer names ("SHEET", "TEXT", and "VIEWPORT").
After the new layout gets read in, I now have extra layers called "$0$SHEET", "$0$TEXT", and "$0$VIEWPORT". Why does this happen using VB, but not when I do it manually? Is there anything I can do to the code to change this? I understand the layer names are the same, but they're the same whether I do it manually or by code.

We recently made the switch from R14 to 2000. In the LONG process of trying to figure out plotting in 2000, I ended up having a lot of plotter names to select from when I go to plot. We have 2 HP 450C plotters and 2 printers (HP5000N & HP 1220C) and I only have one pc3 file for each on the server. I want to nknow how to remove some of the plotter names from ACAD and have only the 2 plotters and 2 printers to choose from when you go to plot.

On occasion we’ll do something as a solid model to guide a client understand a complex roof or a clearance problem. We started a model for a project we are working on and ended up using it as building elevations.
The problem is with plotting. If I use our standard office CTB (which is set to print as black), I get color printouts no matter what I try. I have tried using an STB and changing all our layer colors to “7” in an attempt to make it print black, but I'm getting extremely undesirable - seemingly random - line weight results.
The client wants the next project done in 3D as well and I’d like to be able to have the elevations look right.
Is there a way to apply plot styles and line weights to a dwg file like 'dwf ePlot' does but keeping the results in .dwg format?

When I use the pdf plot drivers from AutoCAD or the export to pdf option the resulting pdf is not available to the other computer trying to access it through a shared folder.
When I plot to pdf with batch plot or export the drawing to pdf and save the file in the shared folder, the other computer can not open the pdf (file not found) or attach the file to an email (you do not have permission)
Why is this? All other files share and open fine. Only pdf files from batch plot, plot to dwg to pc3, or export to pdf. This is a pain and I still have to use another plot driver (cutepdf) to get a fully useable pdf for our office.
I have a drawing view with many recurring instances of the same part. I want to include the "XY Plane of each of these occurrences using the API. My code appears to be correct but the projected planes just won't show up. I get an error when I try to include the plane that is not normal the the view so I know it is doing something.
