AutoCAD Inventor :: (Include All Surfaces) In A Drawing?
Mar 16, 2012I have placed the views but whenever I want to include all surfaces from the history tree they appear for 1 second and then they disappear.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Include All Surfaces In Drawing With Assembly With Sub Assemblies
Oct 3, 2013Using Parts created with "As Application surfaces" (only to aid positioning in assemblies). Main assembly built up from sub assemblies which include these parts have the issue on the displaye views in the drawing. When creating drawing views of the Main assembly the application surfaces cannot be hidden by deselecting the "Include All Surfaces" option on each assembly view.
They can be hidden as, shown with an assembly made up only of parts.

Dec 4, 2013After you create a drawing view, surfaces can be included or excluded from drawing views. Files that contain only surfaces automatically include the surfaces in a drawing view. Is there a way to disable this functionality?

Aug 5, 2013Am using Inventor 2013. I have imported some surface models into an IAM. They are not visible in the idw. When I attempted to make them visible by right-clicking on the item in the idw browser, then selecting the "Include all Surfaces" option, the option was grayed out. How can this function be enabled?
Also, can "Include all surfaces" be enabled in advance for all surface models/all views in the idw so that it does not have to be done after creation of each view?

Apr 15, 2013I have a drawing view with many recurring instances of the same part. I want to include the "XY Plane of each of these occurrences using the API. My code appears to be correct but the projected planes just won't show up. I get an error when I try to include the plane that is not normal the the view so I know it is doing something.

The floor of the plant is split into different faces to denote walkways etc.
When i saw they were missing from the drawing i thought it could be because i haven't 'included surfaces'.
I clicked on include surfaces on the model and it worked!
However, when the green arrow update finishes, they disappear, and the include all surfaces box is unticked! i didn't untick it, so what did?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Derived Surfaces Showing In Drawing Views
Apr 28, 2013I have an assembly which is a plated structure. I am using a skeleton file of surfaces to define these plates. I am deriving the required surface/s from this skeleton file into a part file. In the part file I have used thicken to create my plate part. I also turn off the visibility of all derived surfaces in this part.
Now in the plate part when I go into edit derived part - the surface I have used is not grayed out showing it has been consumed by my thicken feature??? I place all my part files into an assembly and create views for each part using isolate (I use these views in a drawing which is used for NC plate cutting)
So the problem I am having is that when I place a view in my drawing the derived surfaces are also showing.
However I have used this modeling technique for many previous projects on previous versions of inventor and have never had this problem.
As mentioned above I have used isolate to create these views. I have since gone back and created the views by turning off the visibility of all other components and the surfaces do not appear in my drawing views.

Oct 1, 2012Drawing based on .ipn shows (should not show) surfaces used to trim, even their visibility are turned off.
Drawing is normal if based on .iam.
Only one part of the assembly is the problem. Other parts, also with trimming surfaces, are shown normal.

AutoCad 3D :: Surfaces Disappear After Closing / Reopening Drawing
Oct 28, 2013I am using Autocad 2014 Architecture and have a 3D drawing with approximately 70 surfaces. If I close the drawing and reopen it 10 to 15 of the surfaces has disappeared. What this could be?

Nov 3, 2005The Axis is part of the iFeature, yet when I place it there is nothing available.
The objective for this is to automatically include an axis to mate to with the iFeature. The axis runs through a centerpoint on the iFeature.
I have a feeling the answer is I can't but I am hoping it is operator error.

Previously I could do a simple export :
ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs(DXFNAME , True)
Which used the options I'd set in the 'DXF File Export Options'
However, now I need to include some geometry from 'Sketch 2' within my DXF.
I've looked at the TranslatorAddIn Interface but can't see any options to include sketches in DXFs.
I'm using Inventor 2011

AutoCAD Inventor :: Save IPT As IGES And Include 3D Sketch?
Jan 28, 2013I am using Inventor 2013. I want to save an IPT as IGES and include the 3-D sketch. That is a simple operation which was performed correctly. Whe I open the IGES file I want to be able to EDIT the 3-D sketch or our supplier would want the ability to do that.
The 3-D sketch shows up but there is no option to EDIT.

Nov 15, 2013I want to exclude imates from two parts and 1 whole part at the same time.
This is my situation:
PartA with 2 sets of imates(for constrains on 3 axis for no movement) on the right side. Set A and set B.
PartB with 2 sets of imates, one on the left side set A and one on the right side, set C.
PartC with 2 sets of imates on the left side. Set B and set C.
i want, in a iPart, part A connected with part C connection with iMate set B. And in the same ipart i want Part A, B and C connected respectively with iMate sets A,C
So in the first situation i want iMates A and C and part B to be suppressed and in the second i want iMate set B to be suppressed.

So I created an VB.NET application to get and check out all project files from my VAULT, change the different paths and check in the files in the vault. However, I need to include the new material library in each project files.
I found that we could change almost everything, but not include material library.

Jun 11, 2013Inventor 2013. I use user workplanes to define my pipe runs. I set them up in the top level tube and pipe assy, include them in routes then constrain sketch geometry to them. I have done lots of this in my assembly and it has worked fine. They need to be visible and clicked on in the model window; for some reason you can't click on them in the browser. Now it won't include them in my routes. It thinks about it for half a second but does nothing. It will include planes from solid model geometry, origin planes, and user workplanes created in the run.

Dec 19, 2013Using a sketch, i've made a sheet metal face with a 1/4" thickness.
When i select "create flat pattern", inventor only uses a very small portion of the part, and the rest disappears.
Inventor doesn't prompt any windows or generate an error message of any kind. How can i include everything in my flat pattern?

Jan 23, 2012When I make a part in Frame Generator, by default it will name the part a big lengthy name like "frame 000001 etc etc". Is there any way that I can change the default naming system and include parameters in the name (the parameters is not necessary, but would be useful).
ALSO, if I name 2 parts the same name will it show up as "QTY 2" in my parts list?

Sep 26, 2011How to get surfaces in a dwg to display correctly in inventor 2012? (just upgraded after SP1) I keep getting random results. I have a seat from our supplier translated from solid works brought in as a composite (converted in inventor 2011). I have assigned colors to faces and in the part/assembly environment it is fine, as soon as it is in a DWG it goes randomly transparent! Some times it is completely see through and others you get an odd face displaying correctly! Even in different views on the same sheet different faces appear normal.

Nov 27, 2011Working on a part and after much extruding and intersecting ended up with pretty much what I was after, but there are all these surfaces that don't seem to clean up by boolean operation of the solids. Will this cause a problem when I go to manufacture from STL file ?

May 16, 2012I am attempting to revolve a sketch between two surfaces in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012. The problem is that the extrusion is being created on the opposite side of the two surfaces that I want.
For example, I have two flanges on a cylinder. I would like the feature to be created to stretch on the lower side, the larger angle, where the sketch is. Instead, it is creating the feature on the upper side, the smaller angle.
I have adjusted everything I can within the revolve feature options, including unchecking "minimum solution" and switching the starting and terminating faces.
In the attached file I am attempting to revolve "Sketch 7" about the x-axis, between the two flanges closest to the "top." The sketch is centered on where I want the revolved feature to be created.

Oct 11, 2013I am using 2013 and my construction surfaces keep displaying in my drawing views. They are hidden at part and assembly level and include surfaces is greyed out but they show as visible in the feature tree in the idw, and in the views.
Is there a setting somewhere to stop this. This is from IDW. They should not be visible.

Jan 24, 2013I have successfully opened a STEP file from our Engineering group and saved it away as an Inventor Assembly. I would like to define Materials and/or Surface finishes for all parts. Why wouldn't the Surfaces and Materials synchronize between the Styudio's Surface Creator and the BOM Materials Control in the Assembly area?
I have found the way to define a new Surface in the "Inventor Studio" Interface and saved it with a unique name. Now, I would like to assign that Surface as a Material to the parts in the assembly ... and of course I would like to define numerous other surfaces and materials for assignment to all the parts throughout the assembly. Finally, I would like these surfaces / materials to follow the model into Showcase for presentation purposes.
