AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Changing Vertical Exaggeration Of Pipe Profiles

May 7, 2013

I have a profile with pipes and labels. I need to change the vertical exaggeration.

I can change the profile view style graphic exaggeration, but the pipes and associated labels do not rescale. Is there a way to force the pipes and labels to update to the new vertical exaggeration?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Depicting Both Slice And Cross Cut Pipe Profiles Of One Pipe

Jan 8, 2014

One of the things I seem to struggle with is being able to depict a single pipe when it needs to be shown in one profile as a crossing pipe, and another profile where you you show a lenghwise slice through the pipe. I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Vertical Offset Layout Profiles Dynamically

Sep 14, 2012

I am creating construction plans sets that require 3 road profiles for the left edge, center and right edge. I would like to dynamically link the center line profile with the edge profiles.

I have created alignment offsets to obtain the existing surface at the offset location. I would like the edge profiles to have a vertical offset from the center profile. Also if I modify the center profile I want it to dynamically adjust the edge profiles.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Straightening Pressure Pipe Profiles?

Apr 24, 2012

I'm slowly getting familiar with the new pressure pipe tools. So far I like the layout compass but I'm finding the rest to be rather cumbersome to work with.

One problem I have is how to straighten portions of a pipe in profile after fitting it to a surface profile. Each pipe ends up segmented according to it's cut length property. Typically after fitting it to a surface profile we want to straighten the pipe between critical points along the profile. I don't see any way to do this aside from dragging each segment. Is there a way to remove, add or adjust the length of individual segments?

I don't see any other than the videos provided in the new features catalog.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pipe Invert Labels In Profiles?

Oct 15, 2012

I am trying to place my pipe invert labels at the actual point of the invert. When using the pipe label style composer, I have selected Anchor Point to be "Bottom Inner Diameter". Why is it that the label style still imports into the center of the pipe? No matter which anchor point I choose the label still inserts to the middle of the pipe. Is there a hidden setting that I am missing?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Changing Pipe Material

Dec 11, 2012

Version Civil 3D 2013....

A pipe network has been created & labeled. All pipes labeled correctly except one. The material for 15", 18", 24" RCP pipes labeled "RCP" but all the 12" pipes labeled "Reinforced Concrete Pipe". So I know I need to change the Material of the 12" pipe to read "RCP". I was hoping to just go to Pipe Properties & change it there for this dwg but it doesn't change.

I was thinking it might be in the part xml file but why would some label "RCP" and the 12" didn't? The Parts Catolog used in this dwg is the default from Autodesk. Also, in the Part List, Material is greyed out. That's the first place I went to change the Material.

Setting a different location for regular pipe networks works fine.

Is there something I'm missing or does this method not work for pressure networks.

AutoCad :: Plan And Profiles And Vertical / Horizontal Scales

Jul 2, 2013

I'm setting up some plan and profiles (I DON'T HAVE CIVIL3D) with MAP3D. I have a couple of autolisp routines to work with the profile grid, but one thing that confuses me, the grid should be in paper space and the vertical scale set based on paper space, right? I'm assuming that the actual contours/polylines (once I have them georeferenced) will go in model space.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2012 - Pipe Structure Editing - Changing Preset Lists For Structure Sizing

Nov 4, 2011

We use C3D 2012 (metric only) - We are attempting to customize our list of structures for Sanitary Sewers. The structure list shows sizes we do not use and we would like to modify them. However, when we try to select the "Inner Diameter" it displays a list of sizes that we can not seem to modify or add to.

I have looked at some of the XML files to try and modify or add new sizes (example: AeccStructConcentricCylinder_Metric.xml) , but they do not seem to be recognized even after I restart the program.

Here is what the file looks like:

<ColumnConstList desc="Inner Structure Diameter" dataType="float" unit="mm" name="SID" id="CCL1" visible="1" context="StructInnerDiameter" index="0">

1200.0000

1350.0000

1500.0000

1800.0000

2050.0000

2300.0000

2550.0000

I tried modifying the last line replacing 2550 with 3600.

I also tried adding a line
3600.0000

I saved the XML file and restarted the program with nothing changing that I can see.

Looking for correct file(s) to edit so I can modify the LISTS that come up in the piping modules.
