AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Warning - Angle Is Out Of Range
Sep 13, 2012
During an import event I get a warning message saying the Angle is out of Range. The .fbk text below is where the import is getting hung up, the red text is the specific line.
I am using C3D 2012 and i know how to create a table showing volumes for different elevation ranges with different colours, but how to show the total cut or fill for the volume surface in the same table so that you dont have to manually add up all of the cuts or fills? or have to display only two ranges?
I am trying to insert an excel table using a datalink. If I insert the entire sheet, it includes too many cells. If I set a print area and choose that area, it will not insert the table. The first time it acts like it is going to work, but then never lets me place the table. The second attempt it just will not let me select that data link. If I actually name a group of cells, I get the same behavior as the print area. Have issues with importing excel tables? Am I missing a step?
My work flow is
Create an excel sheet & format the table.
Select desired sells, set print area.
Save & Close excel
go to annotate tab in civil 3d
select table icon
choose from data link
launch data link manager
create data link and choose range of cells as print area.
Press OK
it never let me choose insert point.
I have also tried to simply make the datalink and then run the table command with the same results.

Is there a way to automatically adjust the cut range colours (REDS) in the attached scheme such that the lighter colours denote lower cut depths in the same way that the fill range does (Greens)
I know they can be manually adjusted but when the analysis is run again the colours revert back

I have a sidewalk project with 5' wide sidewalk and the edge of sidewalk is 5' of the back of curb. All is fine and well, I have link slope to surface subassembly assigned to one side and a link offset and slope subassembly to the other side of the sidewalk. Everything daylights nicely.
Here is the issue......my link slope to surface subassembly is an 8:1 slope to tie into the existing surface model. There is one stretch of sidewalk where I have a retaining wall behind the sidewalk for about 15'. My section views are every 10' and in one of them the wall needs to show up. I could use the link vertcial sub assembly in this area but I am not sure how to use a specific subassembly in one area. Do I split that region up in my corridor, create a new region to use that references a new assembly to use in that 15' strectch which would contain the link vertical subassembly? Or, do I create the link vertcial subassembly in my current assembly and assign a station range to it so it doesn't show up throughout the entire corridor? It's like I wante to transition in and back out of a subassembly. Incidentally, I have one assembly used for the entire length of my project.
When I try to run my hydrographs through a pond I get an error stating something to the effect of: Outflow greater than Inflow on Hydrograph 6 for the 50-yr storm.
How can the outflow be greater than what is flowing into it? How the program can calculate this.
I've got a number of scenario diagrams to produce where I want to show the volume of material to be dredged from a harbour. There will be no "fill" just cut. In some parts of the area of interest the existing ground is below the target depth, so these holes wouldn't need to dredged further.
Two question:
1. Given that the area in question contains cut areas, but also other areas that I don't want to fill. What is the best way to get a good surface map and volume estimation? Currently, I create a feature line surrounding the entire area to be less than the target depth, set the elevation of the line at that depth, then grade to surface and add an infill. This gives me cut and fill volumes (for the deep holes), of which I ignore the fill number. Is there a better way??
2. I've created my TIN volume surface (comparison of EG with the graded depth surface). Now I want to present the maps with "range interval with datum", so the cut volumes are shaded increasing from (say) yellow to red, whereas for the "fill" areas I don't want to show anything (transparent would be ideal or maybe greys). Is there a way to create customised color ranges for the elevation analysis? As I'm doing numerous maps I don't want to be manually editing and re-editing the analysis range details. I'm using AutoCAD C3D 2012.
I have a volume surface that I want cut & fill displayed with elevation banding. I created a surface style and chose pastels for the color scheme. When I analyze the surface I chose elevations>> range interval with datum and I get 2d solids but they are not pastel even though the style assigned is the one I mentioned.
How do I get the colors to be pastel?

why I'd get this error when doing an Export to AutoCAD 2010/2007/2004...? It seems to be innocuous, and irrelevant, but it's disturbing none-the-less. I haven't been able to identify any reason why it appears, and all drawings seem to work normally, with no problems. AUDITs turn up no errors. So I've just been ignoring this message, but it's distracting. And it doesn't always appear... although I haven't been able yet to identify what causes it to appear in some drawings, and not others. I think it only ever happens when there's an XREF, but not sure... (Maybe when an XREF is in an older version of C3D/LDD/AutoCAD...?)
What could be the trick with corridor section editor in C3D 2014, applying overrides to a stations range won't work. After selecting or typing end station in the 'apply to a station range' prompt nothing happens, the overrides just will not be applied.
To apply overrides for an subassembly (curb depth etc) I must go through all the stations set by corridor frequency in the station range. This is not file specific, as it is the case with all my projects.
I am working on creating a surface style, legend and surface settings to create Slope Analysis Maps. These maps show a surface with different colors of hatches in triangles of the surface that are within the specified ranges. I have 3 ranges, 0-10%, 10-20% and 20-100%. I have been able to do everything but include the percentage of the area of the range over the total area of the surface. I thought maybe an expression, but doesn't look like you can have expressions for table styles. Attached is a pdf that shows my legend and a surface with the style.
The command for Creating Lines by Specifying a Range of Point Numbers makes 3D line segments. Is there an option to make a zero elevation polyline running through cogo points that are 3D (the 3D line segments occur even if the cogo points are set to flatten elevation)?
I create the sampleline on the option "by a range of stations" so the sample lines were created on the horizontal geometry points. When I change the geometry of the alignament, the sample lines's local change or I need to do the process all over again?
I have a cround road with curb and gutter, sidewalk, a retaining wall, and pan at the top of the retaining wall behind it, and then a link slope to surface. From station 3+40 to 3+50 we are not putting in any pan. The topp of the the wall at these stations is at existing grade.
When I go into my corridor section editor at station 3+40 and delete the pan behind the wall it goes away. When I click on "apply to range of stations" and put in 3+50 for the end station, my corridor sections do not change. Why is this? 3+40 stays changed but thats the only one. I have rebuild automatic set and even if I click the update corridor button, it does not apply this station range.
get 2012 to make an expression for curve delta angles come in DMS and not decimal degrees? Why do I need this? Well C3D does not have a delta angle label for curve pipe and our client requires it on the drawings.
Deleting temp files, if I can just do a blanket Erase, or will this potentially damage autocad drawings. My temp file is on my local drive, but all of our drawings are stored on a network drive. It seems to me I remember these things storing up over time with crashes, etc. But as they build up performance seems to dwindle.
These files range from .tmp files to Texture folders, .cvr files, and nonsense names like A$C5DCD5F31.Can I just window and Delete All?
Is there a quick way to rotate an object to match an angle without knowing what the angle is? I am using AutoCAD 2011 now. I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.
I have a property line that is N 36d19'52" E but needs to be N 12d52'18" E. The obvious and calculated rotation angle would be 23d27'34" but when I rotate the line by the calculated angle it doesn't rotate to the right angle. It's off by 0d11'10"!? When I draw a line by bearing at N12d52'18" E and inquiry the angle between the property line and the drawn line the angle difference is in fact 23d27'34".
Let's say I am inserting a square block into a dwg and want to get it parallel to an existing angled line. Do I have to read the angle of the line and insert the block to that angle or is there a quicker way?
Is there a way to show the deflection angle between incoming and outgoing pipes in a structure label? Or any label at all, for that matter? I know it can be done with alignments at the PI point, but only in the source drawing.
Is there a way to use text that will automatically orient itself to a 0 angle (left to right) in a viewport even if the viewport is rotated 90-degrees, or any degrees for that matter. Due to some pretty messy oriented viewports, My texts are rotated all over the place depending on what sheet I'm looking at.
Just started a drawing in C3D 2013 using an existing template. If I draw an arc using the "Angle" rather than length or radius, entering the angle as 11.1601, then label the arc, the delta angle is converted to hms or 11.0936 . The template and labeling style are ones we've used for several releases. I've compared the feature settings, units and the curve labeling command and can not find where this is being changed.
I have created an alignment from an imported polyline. I now need to vary the delta angle between some of the tangents for different scenarios. I see the delta value in the panorama but it is not editable. Is there a way to enable it? If not, how can I adjust the angle parametrically?
