AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Angle Between Two Tangents?
Nov 22, 2013I need to calculate horizontal curvature for the road, Is there a way I can get angles (c1,c2...) shown in the attachment from the report manager.

View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble designing an alignment from an pre existing road. I drew the polyline and I need it to get curved between tangents (since there isn't a label that informs the angles between these tangents). But when I do it, not all the tangents get curved, just a part of it. The weird thing is that the whole polyline gets converted to an alignment and labeled correctly, but only the tangents near the initial stations get curved.
Other issue is that even if I draw another alignment in the same X, Y, i can't project it to my existing profile view. I can't offset my EG so i can weed it and design my alignment for my pressure pipe.
I'm more experienced working with pound and slopes in architecture design and this part of C3D seems more complicated
I always draw a polyline to define my alignments. When selecting the polyline for the alignment, in the Create Alignment from Objects box, at the bottom, the default is to "Add curves between tangents". Where do I turn that off so default in NO.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to work a routine that will draw tangents with or without curve in a profile by calling the command in the Toolbar icon to "Draw Tangents" button that is on the Profile Layout Tools toolbar. I can't seem to locate the command that I could execute at the comand line or in LISP. Where can I find a complete list of C3D commands to reference?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to draw a smiple line using the transparent command 'AD (angle-distance).
My distance is not horz., so I want to enter the Vertial angle and the slope-distance, in LLD the command was AD VD.
So how do you do this in Civil 3D 2012.
When i draw a tangent to a circle and zoomed in i saw that the line isn't actually a tangent, in fact it doesn't touches the circle!

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a quick way to rotate an object to match an angle without knowing what the angle is? I am using AutoCAD 2011 now. I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a property line that is N 36d19'52" E but needs to be N 12d52'18" E. The obvious and calculated rotation angle would be 23d27'34" but when I rotate the line by the calculated angle it doesn't rotate to the right angle. It's off by 0d11'10"!? When I draw a line by bearing at N12d52'18" E and inquiry the angle between the property line and the drawn line the angle difference is in fact 23d27'34".

Can that also be done in an assembly?
In one assembly I want to make one angle half of a driven angle.
Is there a way to show the deflection angle between incoming and outgoing pipes in a structure label? Or any label at all, for that matter? I know it can be done with alignments at the PI point, but only in the source drawing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to use text that will automatically orient itself to a 0 angle (left to right) in a viewport even if the viewport is rotated 90-degrees, or any degrees for that matter. Due to some pretty messy oriented viewports, My texts are rotated all over the place depending on what sheet I'm looking at.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust started a drawing in C3D 2013 using an existing template. If I draw an arc using the "Angle" rather than length or radius, entering the angle as 11.1601, then label the arc, the delta angle is converted to hms or 11.0936 . The template and labeling style are ones we've used for several releases. I've compared the feature settings, units and the curve labeling command and can not find where this is being changed.

I am trying out this option, and am noticing that whenever I close and reopen the drawing with a surface that uses this option, it resets my maximum angle from whatever I have it set to, to 90 degrees. Am I missing some setting that defaults the max angle to 90 degrees on drawing open? Or is something else going on here?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy parcel inverse reports from the Toolbox Report Manager are still coming in with the bearings having decimal seconds to 3 places (N 0-00-00.000 E). I have already changed the variable for angle precision to zero in the "General_Formating_JScript" xsl file but it's still not coming out correctly. Is there any other file that holds an additional angle or bearing precision setting?

Also the outside corner should not curve. I can do it with gradings or futurelines, but if there is a design change i have to redo everything.

how to convert "real world" angles of elliptical arcs into those shown in a dxf file?
Say that I have drawn an elliptical arc with its start angle on 210 degrees and an end angle of 324 degrees. The values in a DXF file, for an elliptical arc, have something to do with the contant "PI" (3.14159). I know that a full circle is 2*Pi but how to do this with elliptical arcs!!
How to specify the deflection angle while plotting the horizontal alignment? I’m wondering if there is a way to provide the deflection angle while plotting the horizontal alignment (based on the tangent-tangent with curve method).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a plan with lots and lot numbering. I made the lot number text annotative and matching view orientation. But when it rotates in the view it rotates about the left justification point instead of middle as inserted into drawing. So I inserted lot numbert text into drawing and changed text to non-annotative, but now i can not change the text rotation angle unless i use rotate command on each individual piece of text (was trying to pick all text and change in properties box). Using feature lines to assist in grading design so not sure if this is an autocad problem or a civil 3d 2012 problem. I can rotate dtext made or inserted in drawing.

View 4 Replies View Relatedthe resulting arc-fit pline has each pline segment converted into two arcs, the common radii of which are perpendicular to the original segment (unless direction of curverature changes)
the resulting arcs can be calculated given the angle of the tangents for each segment.
the factors for determining the tangents at vertex N are:
deflection angle at N
deflection angle at N+1 (90° or non-extant = not a factor, 0° or 180° = segment is the tangent)
deflection angle at N-1 (90° or non-extant = not a factor, 0° or 180° = segment is the tangent)
ratio of lengths of segments (N , N+1) and (N , N-1)
I can find the tangents when N±1 = 90° and when the segment lengths are equal but i can't figure out how to compute the tangent if these 3 factors are varied.
I don't want to use (command"._PEDIT" pl "_FIT""") because i need to collect the arc data anyway and at a high frame rate. The data will be used to further compute a spline frame that best fits a quadratic spline to the arcs. That part i know how to do!
How do you set an object's annotation, say a line, to display a line's angle or bearing precision to the nearest 20th second.
Kinda like this for decimals:
0.000
0.00
0.0
But for degrees minutes seconds.
Also, I will require the seconds to hide if the nearest 20th second was a 00. I also need a leading zero for minutes if the minutes was under 10 minutes.
