AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Specify Deflection Angle While Plotting Horizontal Alignment
Aug 2, 2013
How to specify the deflection angle while plotting the horizontal alignment? I’m wondering if there is a way to provide the deflection angle while plotting the horizontal alignment (based on the tangent-tangent with curve method).
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, RevitWindows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),Firefox 20.0,Kaspersky 2013.

How the deflection angle can be shown in the horizontal alignment curve? I’m wondering if there is a way to automatically show the deflection angle of the horizontal alignment curve (attached)?

(Again): Plotting points at stations of horizontal alignment,
I wanted to plot points at the stations of horizontal alignment to be then able to capture their XYZ and thus can be stored on the GPS devise for setting out on the field.
The points are not plotted (see the attached screenshots

Angle-distance method to stake out the horizontal alignment by total station,Assuming that the total station with reflector is the tool that it is intended to lay out the circular curve after being designed then the only way to do so is to construct a table that contains angle-distance values.
I’m wondering if the C3D can provide this table (attached)

Is there a way to show the deflection angle between incoming and outgoing pipes in a structure label? Or any label at all, for that matter? I know it can be done with alignments at the PI point, but only in the source drawing.

I have created an alignment and I would like to create a table that includes this information: station, northing, easting, bearing, deflection angle, deflection left or right, and length. So far I have not found any option to include the deflection angle to the next PI in a table.

If there was any way to get deflection angles of an alignment into a table? I finally figured out how to get C3D to label them using the add note label. If this is not possible, is there a way to make a table of the notes? I am using C3D 2013 version if it makes any difference.

Setting up my styles for Sanitary Sewer and most counties require a Deflection Angle for your sewer mains.
Any formula to use to show Rt or Lt deflection pipe angles in the Sanitary Sewer plan view Structure Lable Style or how to create one?
Have not found anything that works, the Structure rotation Angle doesn't work at all like that.

How to specify the value of radius (R) WHILE drawing the horizontal alignment?
I’m wondering if there is a way to specify the value of radius (R) while drawing the horizontal alignment.
For example, the value of deflection angle can provided while WHILE drawing the horizontal alignment by typing ‘dd (attached). Is there a way to specify the value of radius (R) while drawing the horizontal alignment?

I would like to build an expression that I can use in a label at a structure in a profile view to show the horizontal angle change on the alignment at the structure.
Of course, in the available structure expressions, we do not have the alignment delta angle at that point even though I have a referenced alignment in my pipe network.
Our subdivision code has minimum drop across manhole for different ranges of horizontal angle change.
I want to create a label that shows the minimum drop required at a manhole off it's referenced alignment and I would like to see it on the profile view, because that is where the drop value is relevant.

I am trying to revise my horizontal alignment by dragging it to locations. It is not adjusting the way i want around curves, it keeps moving one end when i change the other.I am working in civil 3d 2010, is there a way to change the constraints or revise it correctly?

Land desktop anchored the alignment stationing at the "+" sign directly on the alignment.
Is there a way to do the same in C3D 2010 without adjusting the x,y locations?

Maybe my workflow is flawed but I thought I had done this before:
Drawing A has alignments and profile views
Drawing B has DS of alignments from A
User A is working on annotating profile views in drawing A. User B is working on design profiles in Drawing B, adds DS of design profile and everything looks correct in the DS node. But when we try to DS in the design profiles we get the message in the title.

This is with Civil 3D 2013. I am able to create a pline by offsetting an alignment using any drawing on any other workstation in our office, but on my machine I get an error: "1 object(s) were filtered out." when I try to select the alignment.
This leads me to searching for some system variable or something that is different on my machine.

Some authorities (in Australia) require profile views to include diagrammatic representation of the curves, transitions and slopes. For example refer to the image below, which are from NSW Rail Corp guidelines. Similar information is required by some Council/Authorities for road projects.

I have created an alignment from an imported polyline. I now need to vary the delta angle between some of the tangents for different scenarios. I see the delta value in the panorama but it is not editable. Is there a way to enable it? If not, how can I adjust the angle parametrically?

The attached image shows a table that I created as a AEC Object from my Civil 3D Alignment (i can turn it to 'MText' and then 'Text' in one or two steps). What I need is a routine, or anything, that fills the third column with an information based on the second column: the deflection angle, something like that:
Curve Angle Type of angle
C1 22°30'00'' 2
C2 39°21'28'' 3
C3 44°59'59'' 3
C4 45°00'00'' 4
C5 45°00'01'' 5
Is there something I could read to study to solve it myself and specify my own angles/types of angles?

We are trying to label the intersection points on an alignment with the following info:
Sta:
Delta Angle
LAT
LONG
We can make it work with a Northing and Easting, but there is no option for a LAT LONG under the tangent intersection labels. I tried to make an expression that would format a Northing as a LAT but it just gave me jibberish.
I was able to do it but adding a point at each PI and making a point reference text, but you then have to select a different point for each label.... which works but it is still a multi step process.

I have an alignment file that is xref into multiple dwg files. For the one file, however, the curve plots as "continuous", while the tangents plot as "center". In all the other sheets it plots fine. The alignment styles are good. Looking at it on my screen it looks fine. The xref is on its own layer (not zero or some random layer). All the psltscale, msltscale and celtscales are set to 1. The ltscale is set to .5 (set to 1 doesn't change anything). What am I missing??

I created a pressure pipe with no bends since my alignment is fairly straight. However, I'm changing the elevations on the pipe using a combincation of the profile view snaps and elevation edits in the properties and it doesn't restrict my deflection to my deflection settings not does it add any bends.
Is this still a missing function in Pressure Networks? Or is there something I'm missing?

I clicked on a pressure pipe in profile view and selected "Edit Pressure Network in Profile...". The panel that came up has a button that says "Follow Surface". I did that and selected all of my pipe and entered 4 feet below surface for my water main and it put alot of deflections in my pressure pipes. How to remove the deflections?

I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
I've attached a screen of the beginning of the alignment.

Using Civil 3d2012, Is it possible to change the alignment label style set after the alignment has been created? For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.

I have a question on Alignment PI's. (Point of Inflection/Intersection)I have an alignment where some PI's have curves, others are merely hard bends.
Is there a way to automatically label the PI's even if they have an associated curve? (I'd like PI, PC and PT)Alternatively, can I only show markers at PI's without curves?
