Right now I just testing using the default templates, So I'm guessing it has to do with the templates I'm choosing.

Aug 26, 2013I have been creating directly the DWG of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 for a couple of months.I created a project for the 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location - i. e. same XY-coordinates, but different Z) And I just cannot separate the 2 "depth" points of the "same XY-coordinates" location in the 3D Wireframe by using the 3D Rotation Cube. I wonder I should start the C3D 2013 with choosing the right Template, configuring proper Viewports and creating suitable View Frames. I don't know what Template is right for my project of the 2 "depth" points of the same location in the 3D Wireframe of C3D 2013 - see the attached file. what Template (.dwt) is right for my project, how to cofigure 2 or 3 Viewports, and create the View Frames.

Sep 12, 2012I want to create 15 instead of 17 viewframes for a portion of the alignment. i played with the dwt file's plan viewport. doesn't matter how big i make the viewport it always create 17 pages. the bigger i make it the more overlap it has.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Updating Sheets From View Frames
Dec 17, 2013I am using AutoCAD Civil 3d 2012. I have succesfully created a View Frame Group (VFG) from an alignment and then created Plan Profile sheets from that View Frame group. I did create the sheets in a separate file from the View Frame group (that is an option when you create the sheets). It appears that if I change a View Frame using the grips, the corresponding sheet viewport doesn't change based on the edits to the view frame. I must manually update the sheet plan viewport to align with the edited location of the view frame. Is there a way AutoCAD will do this automatically or does it just not do that? Do I have to create the whole sheet set again or can I just recreate that one sheet? I don't want to do that since create the sheet will create a new profile view.

Jun 19, 2013I am working on a water line replacement job in a residential neighborhood. Some of the streets are getting the water line replaced and some are not. I have created an alignment for the water line on the streets that are being replaced.
When I create my view frame group along each alignment, there are some overlapping view frames from different alignments. I need to create a matchline for these instances. How to create matchlines for view frames on different alignments? Or create one view frame group from different alignments?

Jun 19, 2013I have a road design with a corridor. I want to plot the plan and profile but not show the sub-assembly section that are every 25 feet. I can't freeze the layer because then I only see my baseline for the alignment. I want to see the offsets of the road. I have tried creating an offset of my alignment but it will not create the offsets for some reason.
I want my final output to show the entire road over my OG topo survey but do not want to see section lines every 25ft

Mar 1, 2012The creation of viewframes with automatic station range at scale 1/2000 produces viewframes and sheets with ranges 0+000 - 0+738 then 0+738 - 1+456 and so on.
It is possible to creat onyl 1 viewframe with user specified station range i;e; 0+000 - 0+700. For a long alignment it involves to repeat the operation all along the alignment by ranges of 700 m. Or use the automatic range option and then make boring adjustments on viewframes and long profiles of the sheets to fit to the 700 m successive ranges we would like to draw.
Is there a possibility to produce directly multiple viewframes with a user specified station range of, say, 700 m on the entire alignment. If this is possible it would be great.
More great: would it be possible to set an overlap of 50 m for example between successive viewframes (sheets)ranges so that we have ranges 0+000 - 0+700 then 0+650 - 1+350 then 1+300 -2+000 and so forth.

Jul 12, 2013In civil 3d 2014 i need 2 sections (and a profile) all with different scales in the viewports (layout). Sizing of the labels and bands is all fine, only a text item is not updated. I need to display the scale (the number) for the current section (or profile), it works but the scale shown is always the scale from the model and not the scale from the viewport, so the different scaled sections all have the same text in the label, e.g 1:200, even if they are correctly scaled to different factors in defferent viewports.

Jun 26, 2012I love annotative scaling of objects it is a great feature. I am however having one problem that I'm not sure if I've missed a setting or something. Is there a way to prevent civil 3d from scaling your annotative objects based on the view scale you are looking at? For example if I zoom out (in model space or max viewport) to show my entire drawing and regen, civil 3d scales all my text and blocks to an enomous scale esentially blocking my entire drawing with solid colour. also if I zoom into a small area to do some detail work all my text becomes microscopic and unuseable. This makes adjusting text so it doesn;t overlap other text very difficult if it never appears at the correct size. Is there a way to freeze annotative objects at thier correct scale (for the current viewport scale) so they dont scale simply because you zoom in or out on a drawing?

Jun 26, 2009am in the process of setting up a standard file for all designers to use our local office. This file will have most of the styles created for profiles, alignments, surfaces, profile views, etc... as mostly specified by the customer and industry standards.
I am having trouble maintaining the correct annotation scale in the viewport in paperspace and when plotting.
The attached word document has 3 figures. Fig 1 shows the correct viewport scale and correct annotation scale. Fig 2 shows how the annotation scale abruptly changes during the plotting process. This abrupt annotation scale change sometimes happens during the regen process or when I switch from layout to model space and back to layout.The annotation scale goes from 1:1 to 1:40 just as in the viewport. This change in annotation scale is not supposed to happen because I want to preserve a certain plotting height for my text versus a viewport scale by using various annotation scales.
I have researched the procedures for annotation scale and have not found any info related to this "abrupt change in annotation scale".
Curiously , this abrupt change in annotation scale does not happen if the text does not belong to any styles within Civil 3D. Stand alone text stays at the correct annotation scale and is not affected in the same way.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Making Annotative Scale Different From Viewport Scale
Nov 8, 2013I have a drawing with several layouts, and in one particular layout only, I want the text to be smaller than the annotation scale would dictate (the viewport is 1"=300', but I want the text to display at 1"=50' annotation scale).
I tried selecting the viewport and changing the "annotation scale" property to 1"=50', then the "standard scale" property to 1"=300'.
Strangely, this seems to work for a bunch of MText objects I have in the drawing, but it won't work for an alignment station label group or for a particular linetype...for some reason, those two things insist on having their annotation scale equal to the viewport scale.
I tried messing around with the alignment station label group's style but couldn't figure anything out. As far as the line/linetype, I'm completely at a loss why that one wouldn't change.

Jan 25, 2013i already know how to change the viewport scaling from 1:1, to 1:10, to 1:20, and so on but my real issue is someone before me change the view scale from 1:1 to 1:.808XXXXX. when i print my figures from the layout everything that is not in the viewport ( like my scale bar) come out shorter that it is on the the screen in paper space. Ive tried to change it back to 1:1 but it wont accept it and keeps the .808XXX value.

Problem 1: I can't view to scale in page space.
Aim: Plot 1:50 at A1 page size.
Notes: I am plotting in page space. The page set up is at an A1 page, . I have created new viewports and tried to change the scale inside the viewport to 1:50 but it blows up the drawing way bigger than 1:50. I have gone through everything I can think of and it does not make a difference.
Problem 2: I can't get it to print the full page layout.
Aim: Print to the printer and to PDF as what is seen on the screen
Notes: I am able to print to the printer at A3 with scale 1:100 but only half of it comes out on paper. Every which way I change something like portrait / landscape or new window selection it prints wrongly.PLUS when I plot to PDF it plots perfectly but the scale is slightly off. It prints out at 1:110 or so, slightly off from 1:100.

One little tool that was very useful was a drop down box called, VIEWPORT SCALE CONTROL. I had all my scales in there and used to just click the border in paperspace, click the scale from the drop down box and set your scale. How to get this back.
