I'm using C3D 2014.
When I create layouts using the "All layouts in the current drawing" option, the north arrow does not align to the viewport rotation.
But when I use "Number of layouts..." and "All layouts in one..." options, the north arrow block aligns correctly.
I'm using the Plan Production tools to create alignment drawings and when adding the north arrow during the process i get a error at the end stating @unable to align north arrow?
North arrow is a block and tried with base point and alignment parameters, unless i have missed something in the block creation? How do i create a north arrow block that will align with the layouts in plan production?
Every time I insert a north arrow it needs to be scaled up afterwards. Normally, scaling up by the same factor as the viewport that I select is about right.

The built-in north Arrows works fine. In a standard template from Autodesk there is no problem.

I would like to show a north arrow on my drawing, but i dont know where north is,
Does autocad know where it is, my site is in a very remote mountaineous area with nothing to reference off on goole earth or maps.
I am using the Dynamic North arrow that is linked to the viewport. It doesn't matter if I use an OOTB block or a custom one they all have a rotation of 355.4016.
The viewport is type "Plan", Dview twist is set to "0", USC is World. If I change the rotation on the block it rotates the viewport (as expected). The default block is not rotated.
BTW, It works fin in the default NCS, so it's something in my template.
In the previous versions of civil 3d 2012 or earlier, I never had a problem with the view cube not staying pointed to the north. Since I never touched it in the past, how do I get it to stay pointed to the north?

Launching alignment grid view/alignment entities,
I’m wondering if there is a way to launch alignment grid view/alignment entities (attached) without the need to first launching “alignment”? This dialogue box is quite essential in editing the values of radius, degree of curvature and deflection angle for the selected curve.
I am looking for a North Arrows block files that I can choose from. I have been searching in my library (local drive) but I did not get any. Is there any place that I can find them?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if after drawing an alignment, creating a profile, and profile view, is there a way I can mark items along the alignment so they could show up in the profile view. I am laying out a pipeline and want to have the profile display a marker for items such as tees, elbows, reducers and other items. The marker I would like to use will be something like the vertical style grade break markers.
Also on a side note, as each of these items will have a different name, is there a way that I can add these markers and then have each one with a unique name?
I imported Google earth surface (at eye alt 600m) to civil 3d 2012 and created an alignment of length 181m.
When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.
I am making a template file having title block with fields. I use this template for creating layouts and sheets using Sheet Set Manager and the fields will be updated from the data of SSM. Now i would like to add a dynamic north block to my template. The block could be rotated (i have this block in file itself) and rotation angle could be inserted. Now how can i add a custom field to SSM so that i could set a rotation angle for the project and thus every new layout or sheet created using the template has the north block rotated with the angle mentioned in SSM.

With ProfileView I can get Alignment Id.

Now, I want to do the same but for SectionView.

but there isn´t : sv.AlignmentId;
Are there any ways to get Sample Line Group Id from section view either section view name or id?
I would like to get station value from selected section view by pick too.

Right, I'm working on a pressurenetwork for a new drinkwaterpipe. I created an alignment from network using the launch pad in the associative tab.
The alignment is crossing several other pipes and cables. What I made using the alignment is a surface profile and the profile of the drinkwaterpipe. Now I want to project the crossing cables and pipes into the profile view.
Now unfortunately it doesn't 'cut' the crossing cables and pipes at the alignment intersection, which would result in circles in my profileview. Instead it projects whole strengs of pipe.
Is there any way to create a section view from an alignment from start to end, instead of sample lines perpendicular?
is possible to create view frames with an alignment? my drawing is not linear, in fact, its a survey of large lake with bathy survey data, and topo data along the shoreline. is there a function to tell c3d to divide my model into as many sheets required to cover the surface based on the template/layout properties?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are working together with another firm here in town. The are doing the road and we are doing the utilities. They have established the alignments and profiles. When I import them all the data comes in. For whatever reason I do not have their profile views so I create my own profile view and put their profiles in them.
When they send an updated .xml file of all the alignments and profiles, they import okay but my profile views disappear. I assume it's because in their .xml file that I import, there are no profile view defined.
Is there an options when you export and alignment to an .xml file that you can include the profile views with it as well? This way when I import them I would get them.
I have a profile that references an alignment, I want to change the alignment that the profile view references, can this be done?

In my case we add a label for each horizontal curve with critical curve data such as PI Station, Delta, Degree of Curve, etc... but I can't seem to find a way of adding any superelvation information to the plan view as a label. Ideally I would like to be able to add the maximum cross slope value and superelevation critical stations to the label.
There is a way of adding the superelevation critical stations a labels to the alignment similar to how PC's or PT's are labeled, but it does not give the cross slope value.
Is there anyway to display Alignment Station Offset Label at Profile View because sometimes i want to display where is the phisical noze location in profile view also my attached file display what i have in my label and how display my label in profile view.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRun profile on a self-intersecting street? The one I'm dealing with is a dead end 'P' shape. Logically, there are manholes in the intersection of the 'P', and logically to me, these structures need to show up in two places in the same profile view. Of course, C3D doesn't realize that I want a certain structure to show up twice, and I'm not sure how to communicate that information to it.

I creating plan and sections from my model. I went through my Create View Frames, and created my sheets fine. But one thing I cannot seem to fix, I am starting from Sheet 10, not sheet 1, so I need my match line to start at sheet 10, then up from there. Whats the setting I need to change for this? I have set all counters to start from 10, but the first match line still says sheet 1 i have attached an image of the matchline.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble creating a map book where north is rotated in the view. I've tried using ucsfollow, and the ucs command to rotate the map correctly, but when I try to create the map book the map doesn't show up in the main viewport.

Having a rough time with Pipe Networks! I am working an example from the Mastering C3D book (P. 371) as in the following steps:
1.Clicked SS structure(16)
2.Selected Create Alignment from Network on ribbon
3.Selected last structure(18), hit Enter
4.Changed options as needed in Create Align from Network - Create Profile and Profile View check box: Selected
5.Changed options and clicked Create Profile View
At this point the program pauses, then a dialog box trys to partially fill the screen but is all white then fades away as fast as it appeared and I'm stuck with a paperweight that beeps at me everytime I click the mouse, no panning or zooming response at this time. The command line is prompting me for the profile origin. I can switch to other apps and bring up TM and when I attempt to end C3D then it tells me that it can't because waiting for response. I can then cancel the prompt to save the drawing and C3D exits the active command and control is returned.

Is it possible for a civil 3d structure to be displayed correctly in profile view when the alignment does not pass through the insertion point of the structure. See the attached screen capture.
The rectangular structure is a storage tank and there will be a pipe coming in on one end and the exit pipe will be on the adjacent side at the far end, just as the alignment shows - but the structure doesn't show correctly, or now how I expected.
How and where can I adjust the station precision of the view frame start and end station. I am choosing snap to nearest foot station but I am getting 1+00.00. I would like 1+00 in the label. I am setting to start end to the layout name and mapping that to the current drawing field in SSM and do not have precision control there either.

I come across this problem from time to time and generally either just ignore it, if the detail is destined for in house manufacture, or alter it in autocad if it's destined for exterior suppliers.
Our guard frames are manufactured from extruded aluminum section (made by a company called palletti) I have when needed created a new frame generator frame member for each new x-section that we wish to use. I then draw a 2d sketch for the base frame skeleton and then a 3d sketch for all the frame work above. This I then use in an assembly to create the framework. This framework assembly then goes into a second assembly where the framework is then adorned with all the accoutrements that make up a guard frame that we can then order as an assembled frame, panels feet, hinges et al.
When placing the views for the detailing of the second assembly sometimes the view will show the wrong length for one or some of the frame members.
;note how the left and right views are different and how some of the frame members are elongated on the lh view.
I'm guessing its because of the home grown frame members but all seems to work well other wise and this only happens infrequently.
