Mar 6, 2013I'm using Civil 3D 2013, and this morning, I have this symbol that appeared under my Viewport Control. What is it and can it be removed?

View 2 RepliesIf you have more than one PDF overlay, you might put them on separate layers. Generally speaking in this case, the PDF extents overlap so when i plot different sheets, I would want only a single PDF to be visible.
So, my first thought was to freeze the layers of unwanted PDFs in the viewport. Except, once i did that, nothing happened. So, i guess i have to manually freeze the layer when plotting each sheet? I then can't publish the layouts as the appropriate PDF's won't be visible.

I know you can set the view port type in your template for sheet setup controls...
BUT - I have a situation where we have profile xrefs of utilities, in those utility profile drawings we must <DR> in the utilities in plan view. I don't want those utilities to show in my PLAN VIEW view port... So now I simply VP freeze the profile layers in the plan view... simple and easy...
WISH - that I could set my view port types to PLAN and PROFILE, and have only PLAN layers show in PLAN and only PROFILE layers show in PROFILE.... AUTOMATICALLY....
When dragging over a Modelspace View onto a newly created sheet in the SSM, is there a way to automatically designate it to a particular layer of choice, such as the G-Anno-Nplt layer? Just looking for a way to take an extra step out of this process.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis only happens from time to time. I have a sheet set up with multiple viewports. I double click in one viewport, type LAYER, and the layer dialog appears but my viewport has changed.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move a symbol around based on it's x and y coordinates, without using keyframes to actually animate any movement.
Basically what I want to do is have a largish map image inside a symbol, most of which is off stage, with right, left, up and down buttons that slide the map in and out as you mouseover them, thus allowing the user to navigate east, west, north and south, if you see what I mean.
The buttons would move the map symbol around in increments of perhaps 10 or 20 pixels at a time, but it would freeze where it was when you moused out of the button, and begin moving again when you mouseover.
Of course it would be important to fix limits to how far the map symbol could be pushed so that you could only see as far as the edges of the map, and not beyond the limits of the map.
I have a drawing with a viewport that fits to the page. And I created another smaller viewport over top that just shows the legend. Now when I try to double click inside the smaller viewport it always goes into the larger one. I have tried bringing the smaller one to the front but that didn't work. I know that I can clip the larger viewport around the smaller one or bring the legend right into paperspace or slid the smaller one off to the side work in it and slide it back. This is more out of curiosity of how to get into the smaller viewport.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble plotting a symbol over a line. For example, I'm doing a corner record and need to put our symbol for a set pipe on the corner of the property line. Our symbol for a pipe is just an open circle. I want to put the circle on the corner and do not want the the property line to be shown inside that circle. Essentially I want to make it look like I trimmed the line inside the circle but I want to leave the line intact so there is no gap in the boundary. What is the way to do something like this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with a LOT of monitoring well symbols which have labels next to them. The symbols are simple drawings and the label is just text.
Is there a way to be able to export these with their coordinates and labels to a tablem (PNEZD style)? If not, and I don't think I can, how do I create a similar item that is "exportable" and would act like a point feature in ArcPad or other GIS based software.
I am in C3D 2012 and using Romans.shx for my text. When labeling an Arc, the degree symbol comes out too close to the following text/number. Is there any way to adjust the spacing on curved text. On a straight line it looks fine.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe've had a little nagging problem that we've just been living with, but getting a little tired of it: when building a pipe network the plotted line will stop plotting at the outter wall of the structure, thus leaviung a gap between the pipe and the structure. On a 48" manhole it's hardly noticable, but when the manhole gets larger, so does the problem. Check out the attached pdf and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I've been through all the style setting I can think of, but I thought there might be a variable to take care of it...like the FACETDEV variable for crossing pipe.
I am using C3D 2012. When I draw a fence line (barbwire) it works fine until it is a short section, then the "x" symbol does not show.
You can change the scale but that also changes the symbol size. You used to be able to change this in the command line. Is there a way to do that without creating another style?

I have been searching around all morning for a way to create a symbol legend in C3D 2012. Is there a way to create a legend of point sysmbols being used with in a dwg? I could do this manually but that could take a while if I have lots of sysmbols.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is what I'm trying to achieve, except with a Civil3D label.I want to add the circle with the typical detail callout to an alignment label. I can format the text just fine, but can't figure out any way to add a symbol to a label. For example, I was thinking I would create a "water meter" style with the correct number for water meters, so there would be a block or something attached to the label.

Im attaching a image to show my problem.
The attached picture is me trying to balloon a part. I would like to just add some notes to the balloon so that I can update them manually but all I can find is to have a symbol. So I created a symbol, the insertion point for the symbol is shown. For some reason I get an extra number and the symbol offcenter. Why is this happening? What I'm really looking for is a balloon that is fully customizable so that I can just add text to the top and bottom and fill out the details.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a survey symbol for a tree that is created using two polyline arcs with width to make a solid circle. It is scalable in the desc key by tree size.
Sometimes when I plot a drawing the tree symbols plot (both paper and pdf) as "spokes on a tire", like a line with a polar array. (Even though the style is created with 2 polyline arcs with width)
If I explode the point object (not anywhere near ideal) then it plots as a solid circle as it should.
I don't maintain the template, I just use it, so modifying the point style isn't really an option.
I have not been able to nail down when it occurs and when it doesn't.

if it's possible to define the stationing of the alignment from the end of the alignment till the start.

How do I control the plot style of blocks?
Say I draw some lines on layer "0" and use the "block" command to make a new block. Next, I insert that block I just made onto some layer "X".
I am using .stb.
How can I control the plot style of the block?
Also, if the block is used as a civil 3d object, say a pipes structure, where does the plot style in structure properties fit into the hierarchy?
I have tried changing all the following variables to no affect: layer "0" plot style, layer "X' plot style, object properties plot style, stucture style plot style

I have 2 viewports, one at 1:1000 and the other at 1:250. They show exactly what I want with respect to the area covered and the zoom factor, BUT the text on all of the survey shots is changing size based upon the different viewport scales.
I need the text on the survey points to remain the same size and not adjust based upon the viewport scale. So the text should be a fixed scale and not associative.
I have looked at the labeling style Composer dialogue and can not see a way to specify a fixed height which does not adjust based upon the viewport scale. I can set the point symbols to a specific size so they do not scale - Can I do the same with the text labels (description, elevation, etc.)?
Is there a way to control what layer a site is created on?
I am surprised I hadn't noticed until now that a site is actually an AECC_PARCEL In 2012 it comes in on the current layer. This causes some undesirable behavior. If your current layer is locked you are unable to create a site. If you later lock the layer the site is on you are prevented from changing site properties. I found it when I could not purge a layer because it contained the site.
