I am using C3D 2012. When I draw a fence line (barbwire) it works fine until it is a short section, then the "x" symbol does not show.
You can change the scale but that also changes the symbol size. You used to be able to change this in the command line. Is there a way to do that without creating another style?

I need a line to show a fence and it should be a line with a / poking out on one side like -/-/- but the lines in between longer and the side lines just on one side...
How to make one like that or where I can find one?
easy way to show the user the polygon/fence they are creating when Editor.SelectXX is called by indicating it with a dashed line and coloring the area with a semitransparent fill, kind of like when you use the AREA command or when you click somewhere and AutoCAD shows you the selection window you're creating?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble plotting a symbol over a line. For example, I'm doing a corner record and need to put our symbol for a set pipe on the corner of the property line. Our symbol for a pipe is just an open circle. I want to put the circle on the corner and do not want the the property line to be shown inside that circle. Essentially I want to make it look like I trimmed the line inside the circle but I want to leave the line intact so there is no gap in the boundary. What is the way to do something like this?

I'm having a problem entering line lengths - something I remember occurring some time ago - but I can't' recall how I remedied it. The '@' symbol take time to register - instead of registering immediately as previously. I now have to check the command line each time and allow a moment for it to register before entering the values.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a symbol called "A." I needed 2 copies of it, so I duplicated A and renamed the new symbol to B. I now have A and B, identical copies of each other.
I navigated inside symbol A where I entered another symbol, "A1." Inside A > A1, I removed an image and added another image. No problem so far.
Then, I returned to the stage and navigated into symbol B > B1. To my surprise, the same image change I made in A > A1 already appeared in B > B1 (even though I duplicated A **before** making this change).
When I change the image inside B > B1, that same change is now present back in A > A1.
It's as if these two symbols, A and B, are mirrors of each other, even after being modified. Trouble is, I don't want mirrors. I need them to be slightly different.
I thought the Duplicate step might be my problem. I started over (both by undoing several steps and by closing and creating a new document entirely). This time, I copied A and pasted it onto the stage. I ran into the same problems.
Ok, next guess: this time, I entered symbol A and copied its elements/sub-symbols. I went back to the stage and pasted them there. Selected these elements/symbols and converted to a new symbol. Same problem!
I'm trying to show captions when the user clicks on a button (captionButton) symbol. All permutations below work for showing the captions but none of them work for showing the button ever again, though it does hide the captions.

I've just recently caught up to 2.8 (From 2.4 something or other believe it or not ) and amongst a couple of things I have to say I don't like is the fact that previously when setting a path, if I wanted it to be either perfectly horizontal or vertical I could see by the steps in the path preview line whether it was or not.
With the new version, initially at least, that's no longer the case. As I tend to work with straight lines a lot of the time it's proving to be a bit of a pain. Is there any way to set the path preview line to show the steps again to indicate a straight line.
how other people approach Revit (the joys of working as the solo Revit pioneer in the practice)I am in the middle of putting together various families - and have been experimenting with symbol lines for the detailing at reveals / heads etc.
For the moment I had simply used masked regions to create the joinery of frames, beads, architraves etc. which works fine, apart from not being able to use any fills at family level - leaving it to call-out drafting to add the detail in the project.
I tried the alternate of using Detail Components within the family (a simple rectangular joinery section) with shared parameters so that it can be driven by the host family - which allows drafting fills to be used.
It looks better and will save time placing fills later on to call-out details.
But - is there any impact on performance in doing this (every section now shows the fill when set at 'Fine') - is this a standard approach, or am I better leaving the symbol linework as hatch-free in the family itself - and leaving it all for addition in individual call-outs ?
I created a Yin/Yang symbol, but for some reason it has a vertical line through its center. The line disapears sometimes after I move the symbol.It disapears in outline mode. Why is it thre? How do I get rid of it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with a LOT of monitoring well symbols which have labels next to them. The symbols are simple drawings and the label is just text.
Is there a way to be able to export these with their coordinates and labels to a tablem (PNEZD style)? If not, and I don't think I can, how do I create a similar item that is "exportable" and would act like a point feature in ArcPad or other GIS based software.
I use Cad2013 . During a line command , I can not see the length beside the courser , so I have enter the length using keyboard and it is very time consuming .
I do not remember if I changed any default settings but It used to work properly .

I am in C3D 2012 and using Romans.shx for my text. When labeling an Arc, the degree symbol comes out too close to the following text/number. Is there any way to adjust the spacing on curved text. On a straight line it looks fine.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe've had a little nagging problem that we've just been living with, but getting a little tired of it: when building a pipe network the plotted line will stop plotting at the outter wall of the structure, thus leaviung a gap between the pipe and the structure. On a 48" manhole it's hardly noticable, but when the manhole gets larger, so does the problem. Check out the attached pdf and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I've been through all the style setting I can think of, but I thought there might be a variable to take care of it...like the FACETDEV variable for crossing pipe.

I can format the text just fine, but can't figure out any way to add a symbol to a label. I would like to just add some notes to the balloon so that I can update them manually but all I can find is to have a symbol. So I created a symbol, the insertion point for the symbol is shown. For some reason I get an extra number and the symbol offcenter. Why is this happening? When I use the batting insulation linetype and run a line between the walls the batting symbol extends beyond the 3 5/8 inch walls. how do I get it to fit between?
