Look at the picture. How can I scale the line to show the dashes?
If a draw a bigger rectangle the dashes shows up... Is it possible to set a measure for each space?
I'm drawing in Meters 1 = 1m.

I would like to add the effect of hand stitched thread around some of my designs. The line tool can change a line to dashes but this is a bit too uniform for hand stitching. I have seen a tutorial on doing this in Photoshop where a brush is made with a few small different length strokes. this is then spaced out and made to follow a path. how to create a hand stitch effect using X5 that looks like natural hand stitching...

Because at the moment the dashes don't line up and the polyline appears as a solid line where they overlap.

The standard symbol for an intermittent stream on topographic maps is a a blue line, with long segments interrupted regularly with a series of three dots. I can create a dashed line interrupted by two dots, but there aren't enough boxes for me to specify the third dot.
Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.

I've been searching and finding nothing on this issue, with exception of Autodesk personnel telling users to use the scale display on the views. I know it's not the "Autodesk way" of doing things, but my company has been putting the main view scale in the title block for over 30 years.
I've been using Patrick de Stobbeleir's "iProperty Collection" utility since Inv11, and it does the job. The thing that bugs me, though, is that I can't figure out how to get the FirstViewScale:x custom properties to work intelligently in my title blocks. I just use the property FirstViewScale in my title block, which displays the scale of the first view put down...no matter what the sheet.
how I can use the FirstViewScale:x property in title blocks such that x is the sheet number? So far we just have the first sheet use the FirstViewScale, and then subsequent sheets use a prompted entry (I know it's an ugly work-around).
I'm working in a dwg and any hatch pattern displays solid. I've changed the scale to various sizes, and tried multiple different hatches, but they all show solid. This is the first time I'm working in metric scale, but if this is the issue, my measurement system variable is set to 1 and my units are set to metric.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just recently caught up to 2.8 (From 2.4 something or other believe it or not ) and amongst a couple of things I have to say I don't like is the fact that previously when setting a path, if I wanted it to be either perfectly horizontal or vertical I could see by the steps in the path preview line whether it was or not.
With the new version, initially at least, that's no longer the case. As I tend to work with straight lines a lot of the time it's proving to be a bit of a pain. Is there any way to set the path preview line to show the steps again to indicate a straight line.
I am working with Autocad Map 3D 2009. I just recently switched computers and I put all my custom shapes into the correct folder on my new computer (program files/autodesk/support) and my acad.lin in the correct folders. My custom complex linetypes were then working just fine.
Today, I open the drawing and all my custom complex linetypes are now dashed. I've checked my shape locations, I've checked my msltscale and my psltscale, tried reloading the linetype (it reloads and doesn't give me an error message about it being invalid). Why are my linetypes doing this???
I am trying to draw the part as shown in attachment. I started off with the base rectangle whose dimensions are 120 * 42. After zooming out completely, it's still too big and takes the entire screen space. If I draw the rectangle and scale it, say by .5, would I have to scale every other line/circle that I draw from there on individually? Or is there a more efficient way to do this?

Example:I draw a single line & set to 'Dashed' (or any other type). If i then rotate that line the linetype scale changes to a very small dash & the actual scale of the line changes. rotate it abit more & it will change again.
I have a drawing with two viewports. One needs to show topography. The other does not. When I freeze the surface layer in the second viewport, the contour lables leave behind a dash. It's on layer 0 so I can't VP freeze without losing other things.
Where do these dashes come from? They aren't a visible part of the contour label. They only show up when the surface is on a frozen layer. The only purpose they serve is to show where a contour label would be if the surface wasn't frozen.
I need a line to show a fence and it should be a line with a / poking out on one side like -/-/- but the lines in between longer and the side lines just on one side...
How to make one like that or where I can find one?
I use Cad2013 . During a line command , I can not see the length beside the courser , so I have enter the length using keyboard and it is very time consuming .
I do not remember if I changed any default settings but It used to work properly .

Why is the scale of my Detail Boundary line different than my Section Line scale? I have set the global line scale so that hidden and section lines look OK, but the detail boundary line spaces are so close that it prints as a continuous line. I am using the same line weight and line type for both detail and section lines.
I'm trying to plot 3D objects with hidden lines. I've set the viewport SHADE PLOT property to "Legacy hidden" and set my visual style to 2D Wireframe with 2D Hide-Occluded Lines linetype set to "Dashed". The hidden lines do appear, but I don't like the size and spacing of the dashes. Is there a way to add "Hidden" linetype to the selected visual style? Or perhaps there's a way of adjusting the linetype scale for visual style occluded lines (similar to LTSCALE or PSLTSCALE command)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several .dwg files which I attach using XREF so that I can ensure I have the latest versions combined.
The problem is that the line types do not show up correctly. After looking up on google I have found that this is a problem due to it being a 3d model rather than it being flat.
I managed to half solve the issue by inserting each drawing into one, then exploding the whole image. Then changing the scale in the bottom right to around 1:200 to make the line types visible.
My problem is this ends up being a lot of work as the separate drawings can be updated daily. Is it possible to have all the drawings Xref'd in and to be able to have the scale changed to be able to read the line types? I tried to save the XREF setup as a template, then just bind all the drawings into one, explode and change the scale. But for some reason this doesnt work for me. I end up with just solid lines, rather than line types. I don't the drawings are made up of several lines, all of different length. (This I have been told is why the scales do not appear correctly)
I have been shown one method to work around this, which is to open the Xref drawings, explode them, then take each section of line and manually change each scale to the biggest that shows up.

A dynamic stretch action is applied to the x of the rectangle, how do you scale/stretch the triangle with the rectangle and only on the x axis, so the triangle remains symmetrical from the middle of the rectangle on the y axis even when the rectangle is stretched?
Looking for a solution that doesn't involve inserting the block and scaling?
I am using C3D 2012. When I draw a fence line (barbwire) it works fine until it is a short section, then the "x" symbol does not show.
You can change the scale but that also changes the symbol size. You used to be able to change this in the command line. Is there a way to do that without creating another style?

I go to a layout tab and the viewport shows a 5" line, using a 1:1 scale. How do I make the viewport show a true 5mm line? If I choose inches as my units, the viewport scale is true 1:1 scale

But there is a major annotative scaling issue with batting / insulation lines. Insulation lines should NOT change with annotative scaling ! A 4" insulation layer shouldn't become 16" just because i'm printing in bigger scale !
I enlarged a photochrom image (which gimp converted to rgb) to twice its original size, but when I wanted to see its dimensions in inches the image scale showed 6.667 x 4.887, which is half the original size. This can’t be possible, the enlarged image is quite big. I set the resolution at 300, if that makes a difference…

I would like to draw a dotted line to show the pin inside the boxtubing. I click properties and I only get the choices of layer , block and continious . I have Autocad Lite 2005.
Also, I love the dimension tool , but how do I know how wide or long I am making it until I do my dimension , and then it is too short or too long. It don't seem like there is a way to edit it. I know it is.
