Can I inherit the station from one alignment as the begin station for another alignment?
For example. Alignment 1 is 1000 ft long and starts at sta 0+00.
At sta 8+01, Alignment 2 begins and goes off in another direction.
I manually enter 8+01 for begin station Alignment 2. Life is good. Still in the design stage, and customer needs to modify Alignment 1 to avoid something. Now Alignment 2 intersects Alignment 1 at sta 8+15, but same N/E coordinates.
I manually enter 8+15 for begin station Alignment 2.
It would be better if Alignment 2 could inherit the begin station based on the new stationing from Alignment 1.
When an alignment needs to have stationing modified, what is the best process for this when a proposed grade line and corridor have been established? I know the proposed grade line can be edited via edit profile geometry>profile grid view.
But what from I have found each station has to be modified individually, which is cumbersome. I would hope to be able to modify the proposed grade line by changing only the beginning station and the rest would update, similar to the alignment.
Like entering a station and going there?I've used the 'SO with Zoom C. That is not simple.12+ miles of a single road alignment with 3 equation stations makes for a LOT of panning.
After editing an alignment in my drawing the stationing did not update to the new edited alignment. I tried selecting the alignment and in alignment properties changing the end stationing, but I get the error "Either outside alignment limits or within gap created by a station equation". The stationing stops at my first edit point 66+24 when the total length of edited alignment is 103+15. Is there a way to re-station alignment.
i need to put points on an alignment at each station. i've figured that part out. what i want is the station label to be the point description. i don't see a way to do this without editing each point which is way too time consuming.

I am trying for last hour but cannot make this work. I have attached screen shot of a dynamic label with some text. The problem is as you add degree symbols and inch (") symbols and paratheses to the text, the leader starts to intersect the station value. I want to move the leader a little below the sta. value so the station vallue is readable. When I move the leader the text moves with it. I tried everything in edit label text option but cannot seem to fix it.
I am trying to export an Alignment PI Station Report. I've set all the settings I can find to round coordinates to 4 decimal places, Distance to 2 decimal places, and Direction to the nearest second (DMS). When I execute the PI Station Report, the Distance is 3 decimal places and the Direction is to the nearest 100th of a second. how to get these to the correct decimal place? I managed to change them to the correct decimal place for a Station & Curve Report, but not for the PI Station Report. Also, for the Northing/Easting coordinates, I want to remove the commas (for example, a Northing of 3,058,715.3774' should read 3058715.3774').
Is there a way to move the station on an existing alignment? For example, I have an alignment created and want to move station 10+00 so it represents a different point on my alignemnt.
I would like to set up an alignment station offset label that when in the dragged state, offsets the arrowhead from the actual insertion point on the alignment in any direction and distance I specify. I am preparing some plans for a water line. I am working at a 1"=200' scale so all of the blocks representing fittings are scaled up so they are legible.
In some instances, the fittings are right next to each other. If I place an alignment station offset label at the actual station and drag it away from the alignment, the arrowhead is pointing to the station but not the fitting. Is there a way to offset the arrowhead of a C3D label in dragged state other than in the direction of the leader?
I am working on road improvements, the City my client want to extend the improvement longer form the original scope of work. I am already completed the alignment and road profile centerline and the production plan is 100% completed.
What I need to do is to change and extend the alignment 750 feet backward from the original station (10+00). If I could explain correctly, I want to start the station @ 7+50 (backward from 10+00) and no changes on forward stationing.
What is the best way without doing re-creating alignment.
I have a 2 mile alignment of a railroad loop track and I am looking to generate a report that include both information at 50' increments and the curve data, i.e. PI, PT, so I can generate a staking report for the surveyors. I noticed that there are pre-canned reports that handle one or the other but not both.
where to change the default beginning station from 0+00 to 1+00 in my civil 3d profile template (dwt), so that the beginning station is always 1+00, unless the user changes it.
I am trying to find a way to offset points along an alignment showing station, offset and description. This is for a plan and profile sheet see attached example clouded in red.
Is there anyway to display Alignment Station Offset Label at Profile View because sometimes i want to display where is the phisical noze location in profile view also my attached file display what i have in my label and how display my label in profile view.
I need to produce a better standard table for our company, but need to know how it would be possible to display only either the START STAKE VALUE/ STATION or END STAKE VALUE/STATION in the appropriate column. If I can achieve this i would not need to details for straight segments as indicated in the details column.
I have been provided with Surveyed Utility Locates along an Existing Roadway. These are provided to show conflicts between the New Storm Sewer System and Existing Utilities such as Water, Sewer, Gas, Elec, etc. The survey however is incomplete as it was prepared a few years ago and the Storm Sewer has just been designed. Yes, I can create points and provide them to the County Surveying department. However, before this is done, I must provide an easily-understood format of the new survey locations to the County Project Management.
To provide a Point Table which references the Surveyed Points' location in reference to the roadway stationing (Alignment). I have attached what the point table is to look like.
I am unable to find the desired data reference in the currently provided data field selection. Am I just missing it or is this a "Wish List" item?
I am labeling station and offsets from my alignment for curb returns and such and for some reason if the offset point is directly perpendicular from an alignment PC or PT the label can't find the alignment information. It's like there is a blind spot.
I am trying to edit labels for a particular alignment. All labels are along the same alignment and use the same alignment style. I need to change "defl." in each of those labels to "defl:". So simply changing the period to a colon. But it is a lot of work to go through each label and then in edit label text and then change it. Plus, I have to do this on 12 sheets. That's like 300 labels! Is there a quick way to achieve this. If it were simple mtext or dtext then I could use the find and replace option, but these are civil 3d alignment station offset labels? Is there a lisp that can accomplish this task? I am using Civil 3D 2010.
We are trying to label the intersection points on an alignment with the following info:
Sta: Delta Angle LAT LONG
We can make it work with a Northing and Easting, but there is no option for a LAT LONG under the tangent intersection labels. I tried to make an expression that would format a Northing as a LAT but it just gave me jibberish.
I was able to do it but adding a point at each PI and making a point reference text, but you then have to select a different point for each label.... which works but it is still a multi step process.
how do you change their layer? i have been through the settings tab under "alignment", "station offset". i also right clicked on one and went through the properties.
Angle-distance method to stake out the horizontal alignment by total station,Assuming that the total station with reflector is the tool that it is intended to lay out the circular curve after being designed then the only way to do so is to construct a table that contains angle-distance values.
I’m wondering if the C3D can provide this table (attached)
My dragged state leader does not display properly. The attachment runs through my first line of text. My display is set to "As Composed" I do not want the stacked text setting.
I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
I've attached a screen of the beginning of the alignment.

Using Civil 3d2012, Is it possible to change the alignment label style set after the alignment has been created? For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.
I have a question on Alignment PI's. (Point of Inflection/Intersection)I have an alignment where some PI's have curves, others are merely hard bends.
Is there a way to automatically label the PI's even if they have an associated curve? (I'd like PI, PC and PT)Alternatively, can I only show markers at PI's without curves?
