I'm working in 2011 and I'm having a difficult time labeling the section views. Labels are showing up on the retaining wall which I did not assign any labels to in the codes. Also, the vertical faces are labeled on the wall and sidewalks. I am not sure if the assembly or corridor settings are controlling this or if it in the code.

Out-of-the Box section view offset elevation labels can only be placed on the section view and dragged to a specified offset & elevation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedC3D 2009. I have a style that labels the pipe diameter in section view and the type of pipe. When I label the pipe everything shows up fine. Save the drawing and re-open and my labels are gone. I can see them when is opening but after it regenerates, gone. All layers are on display set to true. Tried too many different things and no success. This issue only happens in two drawings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue when producing a section view with my corridor. I have a corridor and corridor surface, as well as an existing ground surface. I create a sample line group and sample EG, Corridor Surface, and Material. When I produce a section view I get 4 sections in the view: EG, Corridor Surface(with the corridor surface naming convention), and an additional section simply called "Corridor Surface".
This last section is strange in that it seems to be using the correct assembly, but not targeting the correct features. Also it has grips at all of the vertices which I havent seen before.
And the strangest part, when I click on properties for this section and go to section data, the columns for Description and Data Source are blank.
If there is no data source, then where is this section coming from, and why is it showing up when I did not specify that it be created. This is a real mind boggler to me and makes no sense. Screenshot attached.
My future ground somehow disappeared out of one section view in my group. Under the section tabs I still have my existing ground and pipenetwork but the future ground isn't there. It remains in the other section views. How do I add it back?

I can figure out how to make them all one or the other, but am having trouble getting them to reflect correctly based on where they are attached.I am having trouble coming up with the actual expression or you can do it thru code set styles, but regardless of settings that I change nothing on the cross section view changes.

Issue #1:
I added the dimension to show that the bottom of the cross section is actually at 97.5 but is labeled as 98
Issue #2:
I would prefer the bottom of the cross section to be at an even elevation (98 not 97.5)
Using 2011 - Having trouble with cross section labeling. I have multiple label markers such as ROW, and multiple EASEMENT types. I've created corridors for each label type - each will show up if their corridor has a corridor section line at the same station as the base corridor, but at odd ball stations (like driveway openings) the labels do not show up, I'm thinking its because I don't have these corridor section lines in each corridor. Is there an easier work around rather than manually adding the section lines in each corridor?

I made a minor change to the alignment the corridor is using and when I opened my section base, most of the section view labels were messed up. (see messed up labels image)
Some views were missing labels and in others, they were grouped together in a lump.
The settings I am using are in the third image. If I checked either the start or end offset box, then unchecked it and closed the dialog, the labels would fix themselves.For reference, there are about 300 section views in this base drawing.

How can the cross sections be setup to label the existing and proposed grade at the centerline of a cross section, see attached. Could do this in LD but have not been able to figure it out in Civil 3D

View 2 Replies View RelatedMoving a text box or section label and it disappears then zoom extents and everything disappears. save the file close reopen and everything back to normal.
I have tried exporting to a different AutoCad year (2010) but the same issue is still occurring.
Often we build a design surface from feature lines and possibly a grading or two. Then we cut sections.
Now, for set out, and especially for smaller contractors who don't have fancy survey gear, it would be really nice to be able to show design surface levels in section bands BUT ONLY AT THE SURFACE-DEFINING FEATURE LINE LOCATIONS.
I am aware that we can use grade breaks...but this gives us band data at each triangle intercept which is too much data. We can weed this data, but that is indiscriminate and I really need only the data at the surface-defining geometry points (feature line locations.)
We can also use station/elevation labels on the section views but this is time-consuming and non-dynamic. Band labels are dynamic and more or less automatic...if only we could get the discrete locations we need labelled.
In 2011 the pipe network cross section labels had to be exploded or they would disappear once you closed the drawing (even with saving).
In 2012 can you close and open a drawing and have the labels not disappear?

1. I had trouble with profile view of the alignment line shown. What step am i missing? Are there things that is turned off?
2. How can I best come up with the right volume to fill.
3. Do I need to learn the grading tools? or could i get buy with a section profile from the alignment. ( it is not even an alignment yet)
4. How to I render a rock fill in this cave-in.
The attached aerial image , has survey or cogo points that are imported to surface, to become surface points. . So I wanted to create a surface profile below and an outline of fill above it. Iideally the side profile would look like a trapezoid, where the base is the surface proile and top would be the design embankment.
But the reason , a surveying crew went down and took shots at the shoreline and a couple shots around the cave-in walls (higher elevation on the cave-in wall cannot be surveyed, although I coud have used a laser , did not) is so that a more accurate volume of the cave in can be obtained. I tried to label how far the road edge is from edge of the cave-in . Norice the higher elevations are the top edge around the cave in area.
The ouline for the embankment will be a mild slope then breaks to a more steep slope. like 4 :1 , then 1.5:1

I'm looking to override the text components. The code below does that, it's just getting the object without having to have the user select it.

I have a profile view created with several surfaces including a proposed surface. The stationing on the X-Axis of the profile view corresponds correctly with the PT's, PC's etc on the proposed surface profile, however the the labels that are actually on the profile line are giving me values such as PC: 0+668.62 when it should read 21+93.63.
I can't seem to find a correlation in the two numbers and am having difficulty changing the style to correctly reflect the stationing.
I cannot for the life of me get the start and end labels for any band to display within a profile view. Each band has the 'label start' and 'label end' labels ticked and the major/minor labels display at every other point but don't display anything at the start of the view or end. The profile views are taken from a simple straight alignment and the profiles themselves extend the full length of the view.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way of adding superelvation data such as full superelevation cross slope to an alignment curve label in plan view?
In my case we add a label for each horizontal curve with critical curve data such as PI Station, Delta, Degree of Curve, etc... but I can't seem to find a way of adding any superelvation information to the plan view as a label. Ideally I would like to be able to add the maximum cross slope value and superelevation critical stations to the label.
There is a way of adding the superelevation critical stations a labels to the alignment similar to how PC's or PT's are labeled, but it does not give the cross slope value.
I tried moving a Profile View and even though I selected everything at once and selected a base point and destination point, the Profile View Station and Elevation labels moved with a different offset than the Profile View itself. ?

I've attached an image of a storm drain invert label for a storm drain profile. As you can see, the middle manhole has all three inflow pipes labeled. Is there a way to only label the inverts of the two pipes shown in the profile view?

We have a project where the alignment is not in the center of the section (it's along one edge of the project), but we want the Title Annotation ("STA. 165+00") to show up in the center of the sections.
If you choose "Center" justification in the style, it "centers" it about the zero offset, which in our case is actually the left side.
Is there any way to truly center this call, short of turning it OFF and manually creating separate labels?
Unfortunately, I can't use "Center" and give it a "Y" offset, because the alignment does vary slightly (±30 feet) within these 250' cross sections - which would cause the label to vary by that much also...
With ProfileView I can get Alignment Id.

is it possible to export the position and elevation of points plotted in a section view to a csv or txt file? I have a surface with section profiles cut every 100 feet or so, and would like an external copy of just the data used to plot the section views to use for another analysis.
