AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Storm Drain Profile View Invert Labels?
Dec 30, 2013
I've attached an image of a storm drain invert label for a storm drain profile. As you can see, the middle manhole has all three inflow pipes labeled. Is there a way to only label the inverts of the two pipes shown in the profile view?
I have a storm crossing shown on a road profile, and the ellipse that represents the storm pipe is only showing part of the inner wall (I've attached an image). This pipe is skewed slightly, but the entire pipe crosses the road alignment, and this should not make any difference.
Also, is there any way, yet, (I'm using C3D 2011) to have the label show not only the pipe name, but also the invert where the pipe crosses the road alignment, and remain dynamic,? In other words, without having to edit the label text, and lose the dynamic capability. Land Desktop would do this, but it was not dynamic, of course.
I tried moving a Profile View and even though I selected everything at once and selected a base point and destination point, the Profile View Station and Elevation labels moved with a different offset than the Profile View itself. ?
I cannot find a way to only have pipes in profile view to only show the invert (bottom) of the pipe. All my pipes are running around the same elevation and the profile is pretty busy with both invert and crown of pipe shown.
We have a big piping job coming up and as Civil3d still lacks some of the labelling abilities we want in the profile view bands. I am updating some old vba that adds a profile line of the invert of a pipe network to a profile view effectively tracing along the bottom of the network like I know a lot of people do by hand.
My original code works on assuming that the start and end structure are at the start and end of the alignment in the revised code I want to allow for situations where this is not the case.
Leading to my question is there and easy way to find the distance a profile view part is drawn along the parent alignment or do I have look at writing my own function possibly extracting a polyline from the alignment and finding the distance using intersectionwith and distancefrom functions with the structure.
Is there a way to get the ProfileBandLabelGroup labels from a profile view. I see I can get the ProfileViewBandItems, but don't see a way to convert it into the labels. I'm looking to override the text components. The code below does that, it's just getting the object without having to have the user select it.
ProfileBandLabelGroup labels = ssResult.ObjectId.GetObject(OpenMode.ForWrite) as ProfileBandLabelGroup; LabelStyleTextComponent textComponent = labels.GetAt(0).GetTextComponentIds()[0].GetObject(OpenMode.ForRead) as LabelStyleTextComponent; Autodesk.Civil.DatabaseServices.LabelGroupSubEntity label = labels.GetAt(0); label.SetTextComponentOverride(textComponent.ObjectId, "blue");
I have a profile view created with several surfaces including a proposed surface. The stationing on the X-Axis of the profile view corresponds correctly with the PT's, PC's etc on the proposed surface profile, however the the labels that are actually on the profile line are giving me values such as PC: 0+668.62 when it should read 21+93.63.
I can't seem to find a correlation in the two numbers and am having difficulty changing the style to correctly reflect the stationing.
I cannot for the life of me get the start and end labels for any band to display within a profile view. Each band has the 'label start' and 'label end' labels ticked and the major/minor labels display at every other point but don't display anything at the start of the view or end. The profile views are taken from a simple straight alignment and the profiles themselves extend the full length of the view.
I am trying to place my pipe invert labels at the actual point of the invert. When using the pipe label style composer, I have selected Anchor Point to be "Bottom Inner Diameter". Why is it that the label style still imports into the center of the pipe? No matter which anchor point I choose the label still inserts to the middle of the pipe. Is there a hidden setting that I am missing?

Is there a way to remove the extra (In) and (out) invert elevation from my labels? If the IN or OUT (I.E.) is the same there is no need to label them twice. So, can I remove them? If you can remove them, how do you do it?
This is what I have
NEW CATCH BASIN A-11 TOP=427.30 I.E.(IN)=421.60 I.E.(IN)=421.60 I.E.(OUT)=421.60
I need creating a view up a storm pipe. We had the inside of a large diameter pipe scanned. Now I need to be able to create a view looking directly up the pipe. Is there a way to set the view so that the what I am seeing is the view from the center of the downstream end of the pipe looking to the center of the upstream end of the pipe?
I am having issues with importing / updating existing storm network.
The problem is when I update the storm network, All the outlets are added as new structures. It does not update the existing headwall / end sections.
I then have to go thru and delete the added (null) outlet structure. Then, reattach the existing outlets to the pipe network to show up in the structure data table correctly.
I am working on modeling a pond riser. I had one model with a series of small round perforations in the riser and I needed to look at a version that used larger, square cut-outs in the riser. So, I performed a "save-as" and adjusted my orifices to match my new model requirements. When I attempted to run the model, I received the following error: "ERROR 537 : Unable to perform multiple storm analysis, no storm was selected.".
I have encountered this one time before and was able to go back to the first model and start over. However, now, even when I run the first model (small round perfs), I receive the same error.
I have a storm event assigned for both models but the program does not seem to recognize this any longer.
I'm dealing with a city that based their drawings on LDD, and they chose to show pipes as just one line on a profile, representing the invert line. In LDD, they pretty much left their pipe profiles as "draft profile" or whatever is used to be called. Now I have to mimic their standard, using Civil 3D. There isn't a handy-dandy style setting that I can find, to do this.
Pipe network storm pipes: Fairly new to Civil3D and trying to set up parts list for the storm sewer pipe and would like the plan view to appear as it does currently. We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.
I would like to have the leader arrow attached to the rim of the structure in profile view. Now they are attached along the side of the structure well below the rim. This is for the dragged labels. How can I adjust the arrowhead attachment point?
I'm working with a structure profile label style and it seems like the only way to anchor the position of the label is based on offsets from the structure itself... Any way to position the label based on the top of the profile view, so that I could make all of my labels horizontally aligned above the profile view?
Having problems with the spanning pipe labels in profile. Sometimes it works fine and others not at all. It will let me pick the two structures at each end and highlights the pipes, but then it will not let me pick the pipe to place the label on.
I have C3D 2013 and recently my profile labels for sag and crest vertical curves are disappearing. When I first open the drawing and the program goes through loading I can see the labels but once it stops loading they disappear. All my levels are on, I have ran an audit several times, I have deleted the labels in the manager and replaced them but once I save and quit they are no longer visible. I am able to see the labels through an xref of the drawing but it appears that the labels have been reset to their default position and not where I had adjusted them to view them within the viewport. I have attached pictures of what it looks like.
I just created a profile by choosing my PVIs and linking them together with tangent curves. How do I add labels to show the vertical curve properties (K value, curve length, station of PVI, elevation of PVI...)? I'm guessing I have to edit the label style?
If I have a pipe that spans between two profile views, is there a way to label the pipe in each profile view with only the lineal feet that is showing in that profile view?
I have my design drawing referenced into another drawing for plan and profile sheets. I made some changes to my pipe network in my design drawing, and my manhole profile labels disappeared in my sheet drawing!
The manhole labels in plan view stayed where they were, and updated with the changes I made. The profile labels just disappeared.
I have yet to produce a profile. I created a polyline and turned it into an alignment.
Looking at alignment Sample(3), I see that it is not superimposed over your surface. The polylines are, but the alignment is not. That will disallow creation of a surface profile.
Is the sample5 an alignment that sits on the surface? how come there is still no profile?
Attached are survey points that created the surface of a road embankment portion that caved-in. The road is very near a reservoir shoreline.
1. How can a surface profile be produce? I/'ve use line to change it into an alignement and then create a proile , then a profile view. But the the surface profile is missing.
2.the points having higher elevation are the top edge( road level) of the cave-n . A few few shots were take before the shorline elevations.
3. What the best way to come up with the rock volume to fill the cave-in given this surveying points., Also the shoreline elevation will be lowered some more while work is being done since the fill is not allowed to fall in the reservoir.
