AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pipe Labels Disappear In Section View
Aug 12, 2009
C3D 2009. I have a style that labels the pipe diameter in section view and the type of pipe. When I label the pipe everything shows up fine. Save the drawing and re-open and my labels are gone. I can see them when is opening but after it regenerates, gone. All layers are on display set to true. Tried too many different things and no success. This issue only happens in two drawings.

In 2011 the pipe network cross section labels had to be exploded or they would disappear once you closed the drawing (even with saving).
In 2012 can you close and open a drawing and have the labels not disappear?

I click on my pipe in profile. Right click and add label. I see nothing, no label. All layers on and un-frozen.

Is there anyway to create a section view label where you input the offset and elevation data into a section view similar to a station & elevation label for a profile view (see Station-Elevation attached)? Out-of-the Box section view offset elevation labels can only be placed on the section view and dragged to a specified offset & elevation.

I'm working in 2011 and I'm having a difficult time labeling the section views. Labels are showing up on the retaining wall which I did not assign any labels to in the codes. Also, the vertical faces are labeled on the wall and sidewalks. I am not sure if the assembly or corridor settings are controlling this or if it in the code.

I am using Civil 3D 2014. I have a section view style that specifies 10-ft majors, displaying text labels for 10-ft majors. However, per the attached image, my section view shows the first label at a 5-ft interval and I have another that does not show the top 10-ft major.

I have attached a picture of my issue. I have a section view with pipes drawn in them. However, for some reason I am getting lines from different networks that aren't crossing my sample line. The purple pipe is a storm pipe and the green is the sewer. The blue lines you see are water lines, but shouldn't be on this section view.

Is it possible to label a pipe crossing offset in section view dynamically? I see there are options to label start offset and end offset, but not at the actual crossing.

In my section editor my labels show up correctly and in all the locations I want. But then, in my cross section file, I look in my section views and they are completely different. When I try to label more points under the Code Set Styles, they won't even show up on my section views.

I have lots of section views with some surfaces and pipes. Unfortunately, in a number of section views pipes are not shown in full height because the section view level range is too little. What I am wondering is - is it possible to automatically adjust section level ranges so that they fully include pipe sections? Please see also the image in the attachment.

I have my design drawing referenced into another drawing for plan and profile sheets. I made some changes to my pipe network in my design drawing, and my manhole profile labels disappeared in my sheet drawing!
The manhole labels in plan view stayed where they were, and updated with the changes I made. The profile labels just disappeared.

Pipe network storm pipes: Fairly new to Civil3D and trying to set up parts list for the storm sewer pipe and would like the plan view to appear as it does currently. We use a polyline for centerline of pipe, similar to dashed linetype but line and space are the same, width set to pipe width.

I have multiple profile views with a pipe network. In a number of cases, I have a pipe that extends to the end of one profile view and continues on the next. I can label the pipe on one profile but not on the other. Is there a way to add two labels to the same pipe - one label on one profile view and another label on the other profile?

On my drawings when I want to edit a label, I click the label, the ribbon changes and gives me options for that label, I click "edit label group" then a dialog box for that label style pops up and gives me more options.
Same drawings on another employees workspace, after clicking the label the ribbon changes, "edit label group" is selected from the ribbon, the command line then asks to pick a label you would like to edit even though you already selected a label.
What is the issue here? Does a system variable need to be set to "1" instead of "0" somewhere?

we have serveral situations when we need to label both box culvert pipes and round rcp pipes on the same junction box label. what we cant do is have civil 3d differentiate between the two, it will either give us box labels or rcp labels but not both. we are using civil 3d 2011, does 2012 offer this feature and 2011 doesnt?

Having problems with the spanning pipe labels in profile. Sometimes it works fine and others not at all. It will let me pick the two structures at each end and highlights the pipes, but then it will not let me pick the pipe to place the label on.

I am trying to place my pipe invert labels at the actual point of the invert. When using the pipe label style composer, I have selected Anchor Point to be "Bottom Inner Diameter". Why is it that the label style still imports into the center of the pipe? No matter which anchor point I choose the label still inserts to the middle of the pipe. Is there a hidden setting that I am missing?

I created a project from scratch. I created some pipe labels showing our companies arrow block in label the and set it to Grade Check. It worked great. It point in the downward slope and at the end of each pipe. No issue. I copied the label style to an existing project I inherited and did not set up. In that project, certain variables for pipe and structure labels display backwards or mirror image. I can't figure it out. I copy those same structure and pipe labels to a new project and they display fine.
Also when I create a profile view the numbers for my vertical elevations in the profile are backwards (but plot fine). The labels mentioned above do not plot fine. I have also copied items from another project and they came in mirror image including the text.

I tried to re apply the labels in entire plan & profile, still be the same.

I was looking at placing pipe information into a Profile Band. I see that I can include the following properties in a pipe label in the profile band:
<[Total Slope Across Span(FP|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|Sn|OF)]>
<[Number of Pipes in Span(GC|UN|Sn)]>
<[Drop Across Span(Um|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|Sn|OF)]>
Only problem is they don't actually give me the information of a spanning pipe, only a single pipe. I see no way of choosing which pipes will be spanned. Am i missing something in the creation of the profile band that allows me to choose the spanning pipes or is this broken?

I have a pipe network that has labels for structures and pipes. To be able to read the information better, I click on a label and try to move by the grip. The problem is that it freezes the cursor for approximately 10 seconds before I can move it to grip the label and relocate it to another place. Did I miss any setting. Since this is slowing me down in plan production.

I notice issues using spanning pipe labels for the first time recently after having used them for years. The slope calculated by the spanning pipe label is completely wrong. I've attached a picture in which Labeled two pipes connected by a null structure. The two labels on the bottom are the pipes labeled individually at 3.53% and 3.34%. When labeling them as a spanning pipe, if I choose the downstream pipe first and them the upstream pipe it shows me a slope of 0.48%. If I choose the upstream pipe first, then it gives me 2.88%. Either way it's wrong.
As I was writing this I decided to check and see if the pipes were flowing the same direction (Start to End or End to Start). Turns out they weren't. After flipping one of the pipes around so that they both are laid out in the same direction (Start to End from Upstream to Downstream) the label now reads 3.37%, which is correct.
Seems like an the label should honor the flow direction of the pipe, no matter if they have been laid out in opposite directions or not.

I am having an issue when producing a section view with my corridor. I have a corridor and corridor surface, as well as an existing ground surface. I create a sample line group and sample EG, Corridor Surface, and Material. When I produce a section view I get 4 sections in the view: EG, Corridor Surface(with the corridor surface naming convention), and an additional section simply called "Corridor Surface".
This last section is strange in that it seems to be using the correct assembly, but not targeting the correct features. Also it has grips at all of the vertices which I havent seen before.
And the strangest part, when I click on properties for this section and go to section data, the columns for Description and Data Source are blank.
If there is no data source, then where is this section coming from, and why is it showing up when I did not specify that it be created. This is a real mind boggler to me and makes no sense. Screenshot attached.

create a label style for cross sections that will label the travel way in the run:rise format and will label fore and back slopes in a percent format. I can figure out how to make them all one or the other, but am having trouble getting them to reflect correctly based on where they are attached.I am having trouble coming up with the actual expression or you can do it thru code set styles, but regardless of settings that I change nothing on the cross section view changes.

Attached is a pdf showing the issue I'm having with the way elevations labels appear on the outside edges of cross sections.
Issue #1:
I added the dimension to show that the bottom of the cross section is actually at 97.5 but is labeled as 98
Issue #2:
I would prefer the bottom of the cross section to be at an even elevation (98 not 97.5)

Using 2011 - Having trouble with cross section labeling. I have multiple label markers such as ROW, and multiple EASEMENT types. I've created corridors for each label type - each will show up if their corridor has a corridor section line at the same station as the base corridor, but at odd ball stations (like driveway openings) the labels do not show up, I'm thinking its because I don't have these corridor section lines in each corridor. Is there an easier work around rather than manually adding the section lines in each corridor?
