I am looking for something to convert .job files to .fbk files. I have Trimble business center and AutoCAD C3D 2013.
I haven’t got them to work together yet. I am trying to upgrade from Trimble geo office, which makes perfect field book files but it won’t work on my new computer.
Trimble says TGO is obsolete and that it just doesn’t work on new computers but I can't see why not..
I'm trying to import a .job file from our Trimble R6 GPS with Trimble Access software. I save the drawing and select import job. I have a device setup so I can navigate to the .job file, so i select the .job file and it starts to convert it, then i get the following error:

Unable to convert file.
Database Open Failed
File: [filepathhere] estjob.job.tic <--- not sure why it says .job.tic here its just a .job file
Select Abort to cancel the current operation
Retry to try again with this file
Ignore to skip this file and try the next.
"
If i hit retry it just keeps giving the same error, if i hit abort or ignore I get the following error:
"An error occurred during the file download. A required geoid model, datum grid or project grid file may not be available on this computer, or, This computer may need the "Update Office Software" option (from the Trimble Survey Controller CD) applied to it."
I've tried with Civil3D 2011 and 2012 both with Trimble Link installed for their respective versions. I have Trimble Business Center installed and updated along with Office Synchronizer. I went to Trimbles site and downloaded and installed all the update office software utilities in order in which they were released, the latest being April 2012. I tried uninstalling Trimble Link and reinstalling. I also downloaded and installed Trimble Office Configureation File Update Utility which last updated in August of 2012 and was suppose to update Trimble Link. I tried making a couple of test jobs on the data collector, some in state plane coordinates and some with no projection/no datum so a geoid file wouldnt be required, but they all return the same results. I've installed the geoid files on the collector using Trimble Link's Install Geoid and also added them to the Coordinate System Manager in Trimble Business Center.
I would like to convert using this utility because it gives azimuths and distances from our base receiver and I can use them to do adjustments after the job file has been converted to a fbk (fieldbook file).
Trimble Access, Civil 3d 2012 export road problem
when I export a road file to my TS2 it becomes corrupted (file size 50% of what it should be.
4 months ago there was no problem. The weird thing a is that the other worstation in the office has this issue to.
Here's what I have done to troubleshoot: swapped out both data collectorsexported this rxl file to a virtual instrument on my desktoptalked to cansel and autodesk but the said they haven't seen this problem. I can rule out the following.
trimble/autodesk software, hardware ( to much a coincidence that both work stations have this problem)Data Collectors swapped out - file size of the corrupted rxl were the same on the virtual deskto instrumentcorrupted dwg - exported a road six months ago, now re-exported and the new file is corrupted.
Both machines are identical:
Pentium Zeon
16 gb RAM
Identical software installation
We're moving to Trimble Access on the survey data collectors which means that we have to export design data using Trimble Link and then use Trimble Business Center to examine the data and do any editing before sending it to the field.
So far I've found that alignments, profiles and surfaces seem to transfer OK. Corridors however have been an almost total failure.

I have installed Trimble Link for Civil3D 2010 and the menu will not appear in Civil3D anywhere.I re-installed it 2 times, which sucessfully completes, but to no avail.I checked cui and it's not there to add either.

Another user in our office has everything in the Trimble Link work fine. We have tried upping my status to administrator for my computer, and that didn't work. When I installed CIvil 3D, I checked every button to be installed in the infrastructure design suite package....
My surveyor gave me a Trimble .tsf point cloud file....how do I convert that dude to an AutoCAD .las file?

I have created the new Point UDP's and also Created a new Point File Format. Here lies the Problem, when I go to the Insert Tab in the Ribbon and pick import from XML. It gives me no choices to select a Point File Format? It just imports the file with just PNEZD data only, and not my additional Attributes.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe often have to create dxf files for surveyors to use in Trimble survey controllers. Usually, the linework has to be 3D polylines so that they can stake out the lines on the ground in 3D.
When compiling our design we often have to use arcs which do not function as 3D polylines. To get around this, we convert them to feature lines. This works for creating surfaces but we are unable to export these feature lines in our dxf files.

Deleting temp files, if I can just do a blanket Erase, or will this potentially damage autocad drawings. My temp file is on my local drive, but all of our drawings are stored on a network drive. It seems to me I remember these things storing up over time with crashes, etc. But as they build up performance seems to dwindle.
These files range from .tmp files to Texture folders, .cvr files, and nonsense names like A$C5DCD5F31.Can I just window and Delete All?
I am using different functions in Civil 3D 2012 in order to import DGN files.
Open->DGN
MapImport->DGN
Import->DGN
Everytiome I receive "0 object(s) inserted in 0 sec(s)".
Obviously importing is not working! Am I missing some object enabler or is a system variable incorrect?
When I do file new in 2012, I get the following message:

How did these old LDD dwt get into my 3d template and how do I get them out?
I've been given GIS data from a county and trying to design a water line using it. I have the .shp files for all the structures, roads, addresses, parcels, etc. bu the utilties are in a .mdb file. How do I use the .mdb to show the line work for the existing water line.

You can import them to civil 3d using IMPORT, but in Civil 3d the import dialogue does not have step files as an option under the file type drop down.
I am running Civil 3d 2012, and I am unable to install any software for a conversion due to our software restriction policies.
When I try to export a shape file (SHP) from Civil 3D, I get to the dialog box on the selection tab and the area that I'm used to seeing that says "Object Type" where you select either Point, Line, Polygon or Text is missing. I can't export the shape files without this option.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are using C3D 2013 and have recently had 3 different episodes where a dwg file was open and being worked in, CAD shut down without warning and the drawing was lost. As in, it's gone. No longer on the network anywhere. These were 3 different drawings in different projects.The drawings were not new, they had been previously created and worked in by more than one user. We were able to find a backup file and did not lose everything but still thinking there has to be something causing this. The machine is a Dell Precision T5600, 16 GB of RAM, only had it for a few months.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import a SHP file to obtain a surface. The imported data come in a polyline.
The data containt x and y as well as elevation. But, when I use the command
" mapimport " , the imported data only have 4 elevation ( 1,2,3 and 4). This is rather unexpected because the line represent the topography of a large area.
I am working under Civil-3D 2013. The original data are okay, they were exported from GIS and they works fine on this station.
Any good source for DEM files? Geocomm has STDS DEM's but last time I tried them they looked like junk. I can't seem to find the layer on the national map server or earth explorer.

1. increase the left margin, now it seen to be 0.
2. add page breaks, it seem to be one long page.
3. add a header on each page (nu n e elev desc).
4. add page numbers.
5. have the client information fill-in using sheet set manager.
Is this possible, and where do you find information on wrighting XSL files.
I just ran into a projection issue with a couple of AutoCAD files. There is a possibility that one of the files was originally in Microstation and in meters before it was converted to AutoCAD but I'm still trying to confirm this now. The problem that I am running into is that AutoCAD Map doesn't allow you to xref or attach other CAD files and use different projections. I have one file in Maryland State Plane, Feet and a second one which appears to be in Meters and I can't get them to overlay or for the file in meters to come in at the right location when it is xrefed.

I recently ran into an issue where it seems like ever day or two, I find my PNGs for my Civil 3D tool palettes in the recycle bin. I keep restoring them to the original location, but a day or two later they are back in the recycle bin. Any way to stop this from happening, and if so, how do I go about implementing the fix?

I have my ACAD drawing setup to the requested coordinate system but when I send them the shape files they are telling me that they get a error in ArchGIS stating "an extent that is not consistent with the associated spatial reference information". View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import PTX or LAS files into Civil 3D and keep getting coordinate errors. Meaning, the scan data comes in at the right size (I've verified dimensions in RealityLINx) but for some reason the scans keep coming in close to the 0,0,0 point. I have tried two seperate projects, one with arbituary coords (7000, 7000, 600) and another with state plane coords (NAD27, Zone 5).
I have tried two ways... Through the Prospector using the CREATEPOINTCLOUD command. The scan data is in metric units and I have not found a way to convert the scan data, in Civil 3D, to feet units.
The other way I have tried is through the POINTCLOUDINDEX command. This command will convert my PTX or LAS files into a PCG and upon insertion into the drawing, I am able to give it a scale factor to try and convert to feet.
Like I said, I have done this all day today, with separate projects and keep getting the same results. I have inserted the scan data in both metric and feet units, measured identical objects and have come up with the same dimensions between the both units. But I still cannot get them to land where they need to.
I am unsure if this is a coordinate system error but most of the stuff that we scan is in an arbitrary system, so I am not sure if assigning a coordinate system will do the trick.
