if there is a log or register of files that have been imported into a drawing. I'm currently importing landxml files alot and sometimes would like to confirm which files were imported. I can start my own register but wondered if c3d is doing it already?
View 2 RepliesI'm new to working with GIS data imported into Civil 3d as shape files. I'm working on setting up base drawings for a new project area and I have a lot of data displayed as polygons with attributes. This is nice but I would like to be able to copy these to polylines on layers that I can have a little more freedom to work with.
For example the polygon boundaries are not exactly the boundaries that I need to show and editing the borders would be nice. Is there a better alternative to tracing the polygon boundaries? I have noticed when I extract feature geometry for line strings I get a polyIine I can use but the polygons' extracted geometry is a Mpolygon with solid fill.
I just imported a .csv file in Civil 3D 2014. I did so by going to the insert tab and going points from a file. I selected my file and choose the PNEZD (comma delimited ) and the point showed up. The only issue there is the point number is showing below the elevations but I am assuming that has something to do with the style settings. My real issue is when I created a 3D polyline and went to the nod I wanted to create a line from the Z coordinate was 0. Did I import the .csv file incorrectly?
When I go to the point group in prospector the point elevation is shown but when I put my curser over a point the northing and easting are correct but there is still no Z point.
Previously i`m using version 2009 and importing Google earth image and surface works fine. However, recently i tried with version 2010 and i`m having some problem here (imported surface / contour seems ok but the image is too large like 3x or 4x). How to solve that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop Elements 10 Version 10 (20110831.m.17215) and everytime I plug in a memory card to upload images it wants to upload every image on the card, even though it has previously uploaded images from that card, even though I have the "Copy New Files Only (Ignore Already Imported Files)" box ticked in the preferences Camera or Card Reader section. This gets very frustrating and time consuming when I have to go through the images every single time to uncheck the images that have already been uploaded.

Step that I created.
1. DL an igs files, then open it in Inventor 2012 Product Suite.
2. Save as .ipt,
3. Create a new .ipt and then DERIVED the save .ipt, change scale to 25.4
4. Save the part
5. Open .idw and place the part you just save.
Result: Notice that nothing is visible. WHY?
Importing excel files into AutoCAD drawings works nicely but the print is unreadable in some areas of the page. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to how the plot will turn out.

For that, I'm trying to import downloaded STEP files from suppliers online libraries, and some of these STEP files contain assemblies.
I can open them as wanted in Inventor (1 .IAM and .IPT files), problem is I can't edit .IPT names. I can only rename them in Windows, but I would like to rename in Inventor before saving for the first time.
I would like to have something like that, with "Assembly" the assembly name:
Assembly.IAM
Assembly_1.IPT
Assembly_2.IPT
Assembly_3.IPT
...
How can I do that without renaming in Windows?
I attached the STEP file I'm using, downloaded form McMaster.
A lot of times our customers will send sheet metal parts for us to manufactur. unfortunately they do not have inventor and/or do not, or won't, send the flat layout. It is possible for me to convert these 3d files into Inventor sheet metal pieces and lay them out so i don't have to re-draw? What are the steps to do so?

My issue however is a Client has given me sone .stp's and Iges files to work with.They open fine as a .iam The issue is saving. I have the project folder setup, go to save.
I Get the "do you want to save changes to "XXXXXXXX.iam" and all its dependants.I select "yes to all".I get the "Yes" under the "Save" Column for all listed .ipt's...I hit OK.......Autodesk attempts to save.
...Then I get the dialogue box up with ! icons "The system cannot find the path specified" - The database in C:Users.........xxxx.ipt could not be saved
In some cases (especially with files imported from dxf format), the tables of print style are only with .stb extension but I need to use the Monochrome.ctb. How Can I load this table if it doesn't appear in the list?

it seems that there's a setting so that when it imports steps it assigns weld bead colours to all the surfaces of the imported model. is there a way to change this behaviour so that it imports with solid colour surfaces instead?
Not sure since when, the previous imported subassembly porperties cannot be modified in civil 3d and importing a new subassembly from the composer is also having issue, cannot see imported shape, just a red circle.

I have an interesting problem. I have imported a shp file from a state agency. This file contains contours for an area. When I tag the pline, it shows a "zero" elevation, but shows a numeric elevation within the DXF_ELEV feature.I am needing to convert these to pline with elevation to work on in autocad. how to get polyline w/ elevations to export from c3d?

I have been working on a site layout, and the engineers changed the final topo. I have imported a DEM file, and changes all of my pipe networks to reference this final grade. But all of the pipes I have placed do not reference this surface, but all of the networks do. Other than changing all of the pipes individually (which is what I have started to do through Pipe Properties) is there a quicker and easier way to have all of the pipes reference my new surface, and also is there a quicker way to apply my rules to this new surface other than the same way (through Pipe Properties changing my rules, and right click to apply rules).

The data is mapped to a layer, and it can be viewed in "Print Preview" but nothing comes out when i plot from paper space.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are in the middle of upgrading from C3D 2008 to C3D 2013 and are having problems with the data shortcuts. It appears that in 2013 you have to specify a data shortcut project folder and within that folder would be folders for individual projects. In 2008, we just put the data shortcuts within each specific project folder now that we have started working on projects that were setup in 2008, I am not seeing how in the heck we can access or create references to those existing shortcuts. I know we have skipped 5 versions of acad, but I would hope there would be a way to import or access existing project data.

Somewhere along the line, someone in our office made our template import points into separate layers based on the RAW Description. I would like to un-do this. So far, I have deleted every point style & point label style except for 'Basic'. Inside of 'Basic', the layer is 'V-NODE'. However, some of my points are still coming in on layers like: 'V-Site-'(Raw Desc).
I'm about to start from scratch on the template, however, I'd like to avoid that because of the array of styles that are in it.
I'm running AutoCad 2012 Civil 3D and I've imported a shapefile and would like to show the ESRI labels in AutoCad. The shapefile is a maze of pipelines in an oil field and the owners and sizes of the lines are in my GIS table.

I have a utm .tif and .tfw files which I need to convert into a wgs84 ascii file (csv ideally) with the full list of x,y and z values. The UTM needs to become geocodes and it needs to be in ascii. I am using Civil 3D 2012.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have LR loaded on my MacBook Pro and everything was alright in terms of LR operation. I use a 5D MKII camera and always shoot in RAW (CR2). I always download images from the Card to the HDD and then import it to LR. However, CR2 Raw files are not getting imported and I am getting the following error message - "The files appear to be unsupported or damaged".
I can still import other files like .tiff and .jpg files.
I'm trying to import a couple of models from the google warehouse into Photoshop CS5 extended.
They open without an error, but aren't visible.

I have been recently and reluctantly put in a graphics position for large format printing. a customer sent a job in an e-mail, and called to say he wanted the text a different color. For the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. Is it possible? it's an eps file that has some graphics, but mostly text.

I'm having to select in Pshop the area that I want to export as AI file but when I get it into Max when I want a 1' outline it goes completely out of the area. if I enter .0125" in outline I get about a 20' outline!
What am I doing wrong? How can I convert the spline's scale to work properly with 'Outline'?
After importing folders into LR, are there any issues with going into those folders and moving out .png, .gif, .pdf and other files that LR does not import?
