I have made an add-in that automates the insertion of points on a surface and I am trying to find out how to put these points on a specific layer. I guess that changing the "standard" default Point style would do the trick, but I can't find the objects to use in the Civil3D API.

It is working only if I have the points in the DWG. If there are no points, I receive "Unknow command DPL". Is there anything I can do in order to avoid this error?
I am trying to set several hundred points along polyline verticies with the point number starting at 5000. There are no other points in my drawing, yet everytime I start the process, it begins at 1. I have set 5000 at my Next Point Number under Point Identity in the Create Points toolbar. I have also verified that the 'Save Command Settings" is set to yes under the 'Commands-Create Points'. We cannot get this to behave as desired.
This is a 2D polyline with no elevations.
I have an alignment and would only like to label stations and specific geometry points such as EC/BC. When I add geometry points to my label set it automatically gives me curve midpoints and beg/end of alignment. How can I turn off these labels so that I only get BC/EC?

I can do it with grips, but it's imprecise. In the project I am currently working on, I have some leeway regarding the slopes into and out of the vertical curve, so I have some flexibility, but some of the LPs and HPs need to precise.

I used PENZD file that has 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location) to create a Point dwg that has several annotations I made. Then I used the
"Lines/Curves" => "Create Lines" by "Point # Range" to create 6 sets of lines:
Line Set #1 that connects Points 1-3-5-7-1,
Line Set #2 that connects Points 2-4-6-8-2,
Line Set #3 that connects Points 1-2,
Line Set #4 that connects Points 3-4,
Line Set #5 that connects Points 5-6,
Line Set #6 that connects Points 7-8.
The annotaions for the 8 points are gone, after I completed the creation of the Lines. I wonder whether I can create 2 layers in the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013: 1 layer for the 8 points with my annotations attached and 1 layer for the lines I created from the 8 points.
We're using C3D 2013 SP2. The survey company we use uses point styles to show the blocks. Say they shoot a catchbasin. Instead of inserting the block, the point shows up as the block.
I did a field check & needed to insert a missed CB. When I inserted the block, the other points that were CBs disappeared. I had to insert the block, copy it the clipboard, undo the insertion & then paste the block in. It did this on other drawings & other blocks.
is it possible to move COGO points to a layer soley based on point number? I have about 3,000 points buried within a 3M point LIDAR data set I want to tease out, but currently all points are on the same layer so I cannot turn off the LIDAR points.

I have double checked these settings: On Toolspace Settings tab, under Points-Commands-CreatePoints, Default Layer is "C-P-POINTS-TEMP". Default Style is set to Point Style=SPOTS-TEMP, and Point Label Style is set to TEMP-POINT#-ELEVATION-DESCRIPTION. When I check these styles, they are both set to the layer "C-P-POINTS-TEMP". Yet every point I create ends up on the layer "C-E-POINTS_FIELDWORK_11-14-11.

i have a series of points from a cross section taken using an adcp and i am trying to draw the cross section in autoCAD lt 2014. is there a way i can enter the points as a sort of script so i dont have to manually typoe in the distance and height between each point as i have about 200 points in each cross section.

I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.
will more ram useful?
I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.

So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey. Will this happen?
I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not? I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.

I've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

So, as I have a lot of layers and sublayers/groups, it is difficult to navigate to a specific location and I need to collapse layer by layer.
Are there some trick to force Illustrator to remember the layer status?
i'm trying to build an easy way to create something like the following network graphic in Illustrator:
I basically want to create a brush or some other automatic method for adding a specific shape (in this case a circle) at every point a long a path. It would be nice if I could easily move around points on a path without have to move all of the circles independently.
I tried creating a pattern brush where the circles were the corner elements but depending on the angle of the corner the shape would get distorted.
I want to send the contents of A1 to an Illustrator document at 135, 172 and B1 to 135,190, same with A2/B2 will be at different coordinates as will A3/B3 and so on... I want to do this 6 times and save the document as a PDF. Then, it should clear and do it again. The columns will ALWAYS be A and B.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am editing a Postgis table using the OSGeo FDO Provider for PostgreSQL/PostGIS in AutoCAD Map 3D 2012. As i have noticed that the serial type of the ID field does not give an automatic value to de ID field after inserting a new feature in the layer and after checking in (AutoCAD Map seems not to understand de nextval(sequence_name) function in the DEFAULT property of the ID field(thats how the autonumeric numbers work in PostgreSQL)), i am using a database side trigger which gives the next sequence value to the ID field of the new record. The trigger is launched BEFORE inserting a new record.
The problem is that after executing the trigger, in AutoCAD Map all the fields are still shown as null, and they are not displayed until i manually refresh the layer.
Is there any way to auto-refresh the layer after checking in a new feature?
How can I, or can I apply a specific layer to a specific command?? When I choose the dimension command, i want it to automatically become my "Dim 1" layer without having to select it, then select the layer. Is this possible??

However, in the source drawing the objects are on one layer, but I want them on another layer in the target drawing. I know pasting the objects as a block fixes the problem, but as soon as I explode them they're back on their original layer - and I have to select them all and move them to the preferred layer - which can be tedious with multiple objects.

For example, I create a layer called "WIDE", and I want the width of the polyline to be 4". But i want the pline width to be 4" ONLY whenever I draw on this particular layer called "WIDE"; but if I draw on the other layers, the polyline width would be back to the default width. Is this even doable?
