I am a standard AutoCAD 2012 user. I am trying to edit drawings created in Civil 3D 2012. Is it possible to edit attribute information? I installed Civil Object Enabler so now I can view the information but can't seem to edit it.

I've made three grading objects using "Grade to Relative Elevation" along a feature line. Then I've added a grading transition between them. This seems really unstable now, like making the wrong move makes the whole thing disappear...but what is strange is the feature line that is attached to the grading object that I have added into my surface remains, but there are only a few lines where the grading objects used to be, basically the line that seperates the different sections of grading.
There's no way to edit the grading again either, it has to be remade, because there is nothing to select.

Where is the command delete duplicate objects in AC2012? In version 2011 it was in express tools. Whether this command is not in version 2012?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe use C3D 2012 (metric only) - We are attempting to customize our list of structures for Sanitary Sewers. The structure list shows sizes we do not use and we would like to modify them. However, when we try to select the "Inner Diameter" it displays a list of sizes that we can not seem to modify or add to.
I have looked at some of the XML files to try and modify or add new sizes (example: AeccStructConcentricCylinder_Metric.xml) , but they do not seem to be recognized even after I restart the program.
Here is what the file looks like:

I saved the XML file and restarted the program with nothing changing that I can see.

how to edit the schema/properties of an SDF in Map 3D? I need to edit existing properties. I have followed the instructions in 'Help', but even after clicking on 'Edit Schema' in the schema editor, I have no luck. I have been able to add/delete properties but have not been able to edit other things (such as existing property titles, display order, Type etc).
I have about 30 SDF files that were converted from SHP using FME. I know I can manipulate them in FME but each file has different properties and it will take me quilte a bit of time as I am not super familiar with it.
Because ~gasp~ it doesn't work the same as 2011!
What I would like to happen is have the full property menu open when I select more than one line of text and then double click. As it is, the quick properties opens (in 2011 and previous, full properties opened) . I still want the Edit Text window to open if I double click only one line. I have gone into the user interface and customized some of the items I want for double clicking, I know how to do that, but I'm not sure what change to make for the multiple item double clicking. I actually would like the full properties anytime I pick and dbl-click anything, you know, like the old days.
I been working through Ellen Finklesteins AutoCad bible (using AutoCad Architecture 2012) and in the first exercise (quick start, drawing a window) I was going ok until I had to edit the title block and no matter what I tried in AutoCad Architecture 2012 I could not find a way to edit the title block. Maybe I should have bought a book that was specific to AutoCad Architecture 2012.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a site plan from another .dwg that I copied with base point and inserted into my .dwg as a block. To edit this block in my .dwg I Rt. Click-Edit Block in Place, then use the Refedit Toolbar to save my changes. It seems each time I edit the block the linework, circles, etc. are duplicated; resulting in several duplicate objects stacked on top of each other within my block. I exploded the block, used the drawing cleanup tool and it found 37,000+ duplicate objects to delete! This happened before in another .dwg. I am running AutoCAD Civil3D Land Desktop Companion 2009, I also have an EaglePoint plug-in that we use to download our data.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe installed ACA 2012 a few weeks ago on computers running Windows Vista Business 64-bit. On one of our machines, the Detail Component Manager was working fine and now when we go to insert an object the insertion fails with a *cancel* appearing on the command line.
I have checked all of the file paths and folder permissions and everything is fine. Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client & Extended is installed as along with Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 SP1.
At my office, we are experiencing a major malfunction with AutoCAD and server based files. I believe it is due to a server restructuring that occurred last week and we are having troubles since then.
Basically, on some drawings, all I need to do is select a HATCH object (of any size) and AutoCAD crashes. The same behavior is exhibited when editing an MTEXT object or, say, a dimension TEXT. I was also able to recreate the crash by typing STYLE, trying to edit the text STANDARD template, and essentially anything having to do with "simplex.shx."
I've got a problem following playing around (Typical, isn't it?). Architecture 2011 allows editing property sets from external objects through the host drawing (i.e. change a room number of a property set attached to a space xref'ed in from another construct). This obviously has to put an editing lock onto the xref to prevent data loss in case somebody else works on the xref in the meantime. This editing lock is removed when I close my host drawing. However, the lock is immediately restored when I re-open the host drawing.
How can I release the xref file lock again after editing the property sets in my host drawing?
I use to copy over a layer into a file. as a smart object, transform it. Then if I needed to replace the image. I would double click and the contents would open as a .psb file. I could then replace the image and save it and it was updated in the main comp file.
Now, if I double click I just get Camera Raw? If I choice edit SO same thing. Replace content lets me choose another file, but I don't have the open .psb which I could work on before saving it back.
What am I doing wrong now to not get the .psb to open and edit?
I embed a few raw files as smart objects when preparing pages for wedding albums. When I edit those smart objects (resize, move, etc) both my systems have 3 or 4 second lags with each change.

I was using a custom size of artboard in illustrator, but I now I want to change it to A4 size for printing. However, when I change it to a A4 size artboard, the size of objects on that artboard remain unchange. As a result these objects do not fit the new size of artboard. Are there any way that I can change both the size of artboard and objects at once?

After editing I choose to close and CC asks if I want to save the file.This is exactly like CS6 does but now in CC I am aked for a place on disk to save and the content of the original file is not updated.Is this normal behaviour or am I missing something?
Right now, the only way I know of being able to see Civil grading objects (surface contours, spot elevations, slopes, etc) while using plain vanilla AutoCAD is to explode everything and export to a lower version.
I'm trying out a trial of AutoCAD 2013 to test things, and my Civil drawing shows up as boxes/text when xrefed into another drawing without doing the task above.
I'm looking for a more efficient way to see grading using AutoCAD (not Civil). Civil is expensive, and I'd like to downgrade the drafters who don't know how to use the Civil functions (and never will), but still need grading to show as a dynamic xref in the background of the drawings they're working on. Problem is, if I have to explode and export my drawing every time I want to update the grading xref in their drawing, it wastes more time than I'd like.
Is this the only way and I have to live with it, or am is there an easier way that I haven't dug up yet? I know I'm not an expert at Civil, so I may be going about this all wrong.
When editing block in-place, not onely objects in the block, but also other objects (just drawn normal in modelspace), is affected by the commands.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to create DXF in AutoCAD 2012, Civil 3D 2012 and Lt 2012 and every time I try to open the DXF after creating it, it comes up with:
Error in APPID table
DXF rear error on line 21308
Invalid or incomplete DXF input - drawing discarded.
I've tried saving it various DXF formats: 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2010, and all show up with the same error.
just tested. no good. don't do it.
just a friendly warning. stick with 2013+win8
or
2012 + win7.
crashes all the time editing alignment/profile. (better). and corridors. (very bad).

I have windows 8 on new asus laptop N56VZ. Installed civil 3d 2013 with no problems (i see some people have problems with installing) but it doesn't work normal. It crashes every time i try to edit an alignment, old or new.
I had windows 8 beta on an older asus laptop and civil 3d work there normally. Then I upgraded it to win 8 and it started crashing like described.Today i bought that new asus n56vz with windows 8 and it is crashing.
I'm not finding any way to add a profile to an alignment using .net api.
Is com the only way?
I can get at pvis via .net, so seems off they would leave out ability to add profiles.

Just had to repair my installation, now I am unable to use any Civil 3D commands, anything with "AECC" in front of it is coming back with "unknown command"?
